Ehi Phillies tu quei soldi l'investiresti sul rilievo o sullo Starting??
ti risponde Amaro da mlb.com:
Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said Tuesday at Citizens Bank Park that he still has a couple things on his wish list:
• A left-handed reliever.
• A starter.
Amaro said the Phillies "probably have finished the negotiations" with left-hander Scott Eyre, whom they offered a Minor League deal. Eyre was 5-1 with a 1.61 ERA in 61 appearances since he joined the Phils in August 2008, but he also is coming off elbow surgery. Amaro said Philadelphia offered Eyre the Minor League deal for protection from the surgery.
"I don't believe he'll be a Phillie next year," Amaro said.
But Amaro said he will explore opportunities for lefty relievers because there is some question whether left-hander J.C. Romero, who had elbow surgery in October, will be ready to start the season. He could begin throwing in the middle of the month, but Amaro said he is behind closer Brad Lidge, who also had elbow surgery and also might not be ready to start the season.
Free agent left-handers Joe Biemel and Will Ohman are possibilities to take Eyre's place.
Amaro added that left-hander Jamie Moyer, who is slated as the team's fifth starter, also might not be ready to start the season. He is having the meniscus repaired in his right knee Monday. If he is not ready to start the season, Amaro said Kyle Kendrick, Andrew Carpenter and Ryan Vogelsong, who spent last season pitching in Japan, would be candidates for the fifth starter's job.
And because of the uncertainty surrounding Moyer, Amaro would like to add more depth to the rotation. He has talked with the agents for Ben Sheets, Chien-Ming Wang and others, but they seem unlikely to sign unless their asking prices drop significantly. Amaro said he also has spoken to Brett Myers' agent, which is noteworthy only because Amaro said immediately after the season that Myers would not return.
That said, Amaro said he doesn't see much likelihood that Myers will be back.
The Phillies have had interest in right-hander Miguel Batista in the past, although it is unclear what the market is for him. Amaro also said he will leave the lines of communication open with Pedro Martinez, although it seems their prices are far apart.
If Amaro can't find a pitcher or two willing to take Minor League deals, Baez would represent the final move of a busy offseason.

Fantabaseball from PhilliesNation.com:
-Here is a complete hypothetical: The San Francisco Giants are looking for a new left fielder. The Phillies have one in Raul Ibanez. They also have a pretty capable backup in Ben Francisco.
The scenario: The Phillies trade Raul to SF for some more prospects to stock the system (throw in one of their top-notch relievers, too). Francisco plays left for the Phillies for a year (not the worst thing in the world) and the Phillies save money that will enable them to pay Jayson Werth, and possibly Shane Victorino, on a long-term contract. Ben Fran keeps the position warm for Dominic Brown in 2011 and the Phillies will have a top notch outfield for at least the next five seasons.
In no way am I calling for Raul to be traded. Like I said, it’s a complete hypothetical for those looking to keep Werth and Victorino around for several years. I think Ibanez is slightly overpaid and hinders the Phillies from locking up other players, but I do think a healthy Raul is a huge key to the success of the team in ‘10. The Giants are reportedly looking at Johnny Damon for left field, or, moving Mark Derosa there and signing Adam Laroche for first base.

Jamie Moyer is going under the knife once again. The 47-year old will have his right meniscus fixed and is doubtful to return for opening day. Moyer had surgery in the latter stages of the 2009 season to repair a sports hernia, then was admitted to the hospital over Thanksgiving due to a blood infection. With Moyer’s surgery looming, the question then becomes: “who will be the fifth starter.” The in-house options include Kyle Kendrick, Andrew Carpenter, new aqusition Ryan Vogelsong, and possibly, Joe Savery. Kendrick has the upper-hand, and may have been the favorite anyway, although Moyer was going to get every opportunity to win the job.
Carpenter may be more of a relief pitcher and Vogelsong was in Japan a year ago. Savery is still in the mix after having a sub-par season at both double and triple A. I don’t mind Kendrick being the fifth guy if they can’t find a FA to jump into the mix in spring training. He’s better suited as a #5 than he was a few seasons ago as the Phillies #3.

In compenso dovreste aver firmato Ehren Wassermann.

P.S. Myers agli Astros....in bocca al lupo!
