Dallas Mavericks: We All Nowitzness

Late last night, Marc Stein reported that the Los Angeles Clippers were working with the Mavericks on a possible deal involving Lamar Odom. The snag on the deal, which apparently still stands, is that the Clippers would like to find a taker for Mo Williams, who is owed $8.5 million next season(if he doesn't opt out, which he has been vocal in saying he would not do). That Dallas is shopping Lamar Odom is hardly news, but the inclusion of the Clippers would be a bit of a twist. Odom, of course, was drafted by the Clippers in 1999 and spent four seasons there.

Currently, Dallas has until Friday night to trade Odom, or simply waive him. The latter would result in a $2.4 million cap hit for next season, which owner Mark Cuban would probably like to avoid, given the uncertain nature of the Mavs' cap situation and offseason strategy therein. Both Odom and the Mavs have been working on possibly extending the deadline past July 1st, which Odom's agent, Jeff Schwartz, is apparently amenable to, but this has not happened yet.

One of many significant points about that deadline extension is that it could open the door for Odom to return to the Lakers, if a deal to the other LA team falls through. One thing to note is that if Odom is waived, and I believe my information is correct here, he could not return to Lakers until after December 10th, since he was traded one year ago at that point.

At various points the past month and a half, we heard stories about Dallas trying to package Lamar Odom as a semi-legitimate trade chip, but it seems the bloom on that rose has either left or was simply just a mirage.

Nelson said the club plans to pick the best player on their board regardless of position.

"Where we're picking, we're hopeful that we're going to get a guy that's going to be a rotation player," Nelson said. "There's a little of everything. It's interesting. There's point guards all the way to centers, so it's kind of a full mixed bag of tricks.

"We'll certainly pull the trigger on the guy that we think makes the most sense and has the most upside, not really with an eye on a position or position-specific."

boh, draft strano, io sarei andato su Sullinger visto sfumato il sogno Marshall.
buona la trade down perché alla 24 c'era ancora tanta roba da prendere, ma Cunningham non lo conosco proprio. Non vorrei facesse la fine di Baubau e DoJo.

e già..anche perchè liberarsi di una scelta finalmente buona dopo diversi anni per liberare il cap già libero non so quanto senso abbia..e se dwill come sembra rimane ai nets chi prendiamo? a quel punto penso broy potrebbe essere un forte candidato.. ma poi chi altri???siamo scoperti in praticamente tutte le posizioni..come play spero nn nash (con tutto il bene che gli voglio), ma nn possiamo presentarci dicendo di ricostruire/ringiovanire e poi avere kidd (se rimane) e lui..

Mo Williams Agrees To Trade To Jazz

Mo Williams has decided to pick up his player option for the 12-13 season and accept a trade to the Jazz, according to a source.
The Jazz, Clippers and Mavericks had agreed upon a three-team trade to send Williams to Utah, Lamar Odom to Los Angeles with Dallas acquire cap
savings.

Per me per Deron è ancora tutta da decidere. E lo dico a malincuore forse abbiamo un minimo vantaggio noi al momento per via dei soldi in più che possiamo offrire ma lui mi sembra ancora abbastanza indeciso. Tra 48 ore finalmente il drama avrà il suo termine, intanto oggi incontra la delegazione di entrambi (ed è già un buon segnale per Dallas, e mi fa riflettere per i Nets..anche perchè non vedo che senso ha un ulteriore incontro quando sono due anni che provano a convincerti)
