Comunque credo che il colloquio con Woodson sia stato solo una cortesia fatta ad un ex che ora è a spasso. Il nome Shaw è stato anch' esso accostato ai cavs come diversi altri(es. Sampson).

Michigan State coach Tom Izzo turned the team down on Tuesday, but by Wednesday team officials had moved on. The Cavs continued to talk to candidates throughout their courtship of Izzo.


According to sources, the Cavs are planning a second interview with Byron Scott after he finishes up his duties as an analyst for ESPN during the NBA Finals.

Scott is known to be interested in the Los Angeles Lakers job if Phil Jackson does not re-sign after his contract expires this month. However, a league source said, Scott is interested in the Cavs' job and at the prospect of coaching LeBron James.

With a 33-24 postseason record and two NBA Finals appearances when he was coach of the Nets, Scott has perhaps the strongest resume of any coaches on the market. But while Scott is the highest-profile name currently known to be on the Cavs' radar, the team is not expected to act quickly to offer the position to anyone.

The Cavs are expected to have several interviews over the next week with candidates before offering the position, league sources indicated.

Trade chatter: The Cavs currently don't have a pick in next week's draft but, according to league sources, they have continued discussions to trade for or buy a first-round pick.

To prepare, the Cavs have been working out several potential late first-round and second-round picks in Cleveland. They have also attended several group workouts of potential lottery picks. Usually such trades don't take place until draft day -- which is next Thursday -- or just before.

Cavs to Vegas: For the sixth consecutive summer, the Cavs will field a team for the Vegas Summer League next month. The Cavs are hoping to have 2009 first-round pick Christian Eyenga in addition to guard Danny Green on the roster. They will playing five games starting July 13.

Uniform changes coming: Within the next couple of weeks, the Cavs are expected to unveil slight adjustments to their uniforms and primary logo. The changes will mostly be to the color scheme, as the gold color will be replaced with a brighter yellow.

Credo che Lebron voglia vincere un titolo e cercherà la squadra che gli offre più garanzie a riguardo:
I Bulls in tal senso hanno una star in the makig, alias Derrick Rose, un paio di giovani lunghi affidabili (Noah, Gibson), un paio di veterani solidi (Deng, Hinrich) e molto spazio salariale per firmare lui e un altro giocatore (un lungo con punti nelle mani).
Non tralascerei Thibodeau: se i Celtics sono arrivati a due finali in 3 anni (e con KG sano forse sarebbero 3 su 3) lo devono alla propria difesa... marchio di fabbrica del TT

La non certezza di avere LBJ può essere stato un fattore importante nella scelta Izzo, ma non è stato il solo elemento e forse nemmeno il più importante.

Tra l' altro il mitico coach di MSU prima di rifiutare l' offerta dei Cavs ha anche detto no ai Bulls in maniere molto più sbrigativa.


Il discorso su quanto possano offrire i Bulls che fai è un pò sbrigativo e limitato.
Rose è un giocatore sicuramente in forte ascesa ,ma la cui compatibilità con il prescelto lascia a mio avviso e non solo più di un ?, Deng con James sarebbe di troppo e bisogna vedere cosa riuscirebbero  ad ottenere dall' inglese,  la situazione cap di Chicago non sarebbe poi cosi rosea perchè firmando LBJ  si troverebbero circa 8ml sotto il cap con 7 giocatori a roster.
TT è stato fondamentale per i successi di Boston , ma ha tutto da dimostrare come HC.
Naturalmente si potrebbe continuare con vari elementi positivi e negativi.

Sinceramente tra lui e l' ennesimo assistente tutto da scoprire/formare io non saprei propio chi scelgliere. Per quanto Scott sia scarso da un punto di vista tecnico( oltre all' essermi antipatico ai limiti dell' insopportabile, ma questo è secondario...)  è innegabile abbia ottenuto dei buoni risultati nella sua carriera.

Questo è falso.

Nessuno ha mai offerto a Izzo la panchina dello United. Semplicemente era uno dei 20-30 indiziati per il ruolo dai media, ed è stato FORSE (perché nessuna vera conferma di questa notizia è arrivata) uno dei 10-20 che sono stati contattati in via preliminare e hanno avuto una breve chiacchierata con lo staff Bulls. Ma alla società lui non interessava, infatti nelle prime e uniche dichiarazioni di Paxson e Forman sulle caratteristiche nuovo coach, l'unica cosa chiara era la volontà di cercare un allenatore con una grande esperienza ai PO in NBA e tra un coach da college e uno che è nella lega da 18 anni e oggi si sta giocando l'anello (anche se da assistente) mi sembra che di differenza in tale ambito ne passi!

Lo scoop originale veniva dal sito del "Detroit News" attraverso una fonte di MSU, ma è stato smentito da più parti. Non bastasse questo, è uscita la notizia che il giorno prima di questo rumors lo staff di Chicago era in realtà a Los Angeles per Thibo e oggi sappiamo tutti che non è stata una semplice visita di piacere.

Communication lines are still open between LeBron James and Cleveland Cavaliers


CLEVELAND, Ohio — When Michigan State men's basketball coach Tom Izzo said he did not speak with LeBron James before turning down the Cavaliers' offer to become head coach earlier this week, it shook up some Cavaliers fans.

With James choosing not to take an active part in the Cavs' coaching search, it was assumed by some -- and reported by some media outlets -- the franchise player and the organization were not communicating. With his free agency now just a couple weeks away, that was interpreted as James putting distance between himself and the home team.

But while James does not plan to commit to anything regarding his future until after July 1, he is not operating in a blackout with the Cavs.

According to both a team source and a source close to James, the Cavs and the two-time Most Valuable Player continue to be in contact. Both sides said the communication has been standard for the off-season.

James has met face-to-face with team officials recently, and the Cavs' front office has been in regular contact with Leon Rose, James' agent.

The Cavs have been in contact with all of their potential free agents, including Shaquille O'Neal, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Jawad Williams.

Publicly, the Cavs have declined to discuss their recent communications with James, which fed speculation the sides were not talking.

James has said he would not talk to potential coaching candidates, but it is possible James has been consulted on what types of candidates the Cavs pursue.

James has until June 30 to pick up his player option of $17.1 million for next season, which he is not expected to do, or to sign an extension of his current contract with the Cavs. By letting the contract expire and then starting over with a new deal with the Cavs or another team, James would lose about $1.9 million on a maximum contract over the next three seasons because of the shrinking salary cap.


For this reason, the Cavs are expected to offer James a max extension before July 1 and might already have. However, all signs point toward James declining those choices and proceeding to unrestricted free agency.

Coaching update: The Cavs are planning a second interview with Byron Scott next week and might be drawing closer to offering him the coaching job.

Scott, who has one of the most impressive resumes of coaches on the market, has interest in the Lakers' coaching job if Phil Jackson does not re-sign. But with the champion Lakers in position to threepeat, the general belief is Jackson will look to return if cleared by his doctors.

According to a source, while Scott has long had an interest in coaching the Lakers, he is very intrigued by the Cavs' job and coaching James.

Scott, a former Hornets coach, still is quite close with New Orleans guard Chris Paul, who is one of James' closest friends.

LeBron makes dramatic appearance at Akron rally

AKRON, Ohio (AP)—LeBron James(notes) turned his big bash into a surprise party.

With thousands of hometown fans already gone or leaving “LeBron Appreciation Day” on Saturday, James stunned everyone by walking through a side gate into nearly empty InfoCision Stadium on the University of Akron’s campus— after the event officially ended.

As fans screamed and pushed to get closer to the two-time NBA MVP, James, who lives a short drive from the school, made his way down to the playing field. James was then presented with a gorgeous crystal trophy, which had to be pulled out of a box after being packed away.

“Akron is my home, it’s my life,” James told the crowd after accepting the city’s first Hometown Hero Award. “Everything I do is for this city. I’m going to continue to do great things. I love every last one of you all. Akron is home.”

James was then escorted through a door to the football team’s locker room and waved to fans before disappearing almost as quickly as he arrived.

Before James’ shocking entrance, nearly 4,000 fans celebrated all things LeBron.

They came to honor the local kid, who has put Akron on the map but who will soon decide if he wants to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers or sign with another team. James has remained noncommittal about his future, and is not expected to address his plans before free agency begins on July 1.

The 25-year-old did not commit to organizers that he would be at the event, which was sponsored by local businesses and the city. He did not address free agency during his 10-minute stay, his second public appearance since his season ended with a second-round playoff loss to the Boston Celtics.

James and his agent, Leon Rose, recently met with Cavs officials and have been in communication with the team throughout the offseason.

While making plans to attempt to re-sign James, the team is also in the midst of a coaching search. Earlier this week, Michigan State’s Tom Izzo turned down an offer to coach Cleveland, saying one of the reasons was the uncertainty about James’ future.

The Cavs have had contact with other candidates and hope to interview former New Orleans Hornets coach Byron Scott.

For a while, the closest thing to a James sighting was Danny Hopkins, a 27-year-old from Akron who won a LeBron-look-alike contest.

“People always come up to me and say, ‘Hey you look like LeBron,” Hopkins said. “I can’t help it.”

During the one-hour ceremony, fans listened to proclamations from city leaders and watched a video message from Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel, a former Cavs ballboy who revealed that he keeps a LeBron James bobblehead on his office desk in Columbus.

“Everyone in the state of Ohio wants you to be a Cavalier forever,” Tressel said. “We have great things we can do down the road and we can’t do them without you.”

Hundreds of fans waited on a line snaking around the stadium before the gates opened at 10 a.m. Once inside, they received free T-shirts commemorating the event and watched “More Than A Game,” a documentary about James and four childhood friends on the stadium’s scoreboard.

Several fans sported James’ No. 23 jersey and there were signs pleading with him to re-sign with the Cavs, who can offer James more money than any other team on a maximum contract.

Ken Metz brought a home-made flag with the word “Hope” spray painted on it.

“There’s no way he can leave,” Metz, a 19-year-old from Parma, Ohio, said as he surveyed the crowd. “It’s all here for him. He built his empire here.”

For some in the crowd, the thought of saying goodbye to James is hard to fathom.

“We have watched him grow up,” said Krista Stakleff, who came with her brother, Brandon. “You just feel like he is family. You don’t want to see him go.”

Cleveland Cavaliers update logos to reflect hues in history

Cleveland, Ohio -- Fan response to the retro wine-and-gold Cavs colors and logos are behind the team's move to "update" by retrodrating the Cavs' primary and secondary logos.

A Cavs release today about the changes say the color shifts --  to a deeper wine and brighter gold -- "are truer to the hues that were a part of the team's history from 1970-1983."

"The response from our fans related to our classic uniforms and merchandise has been tremendous over the last several seasons, especially our original wine and gold color mix items. As a result, we're very excited to bring the spirit of the original expression of wine and gold into our brand full-time for the future," said Tracy Marek, the Cavaliers senior vice president of marketing.

The team will incorporate the color updates into all of their branding and graphics, including new uniforms for the upcoming 2010-2011 season. The new uniforms will debut later this summer
