I diciotto non-roster invitees: osservati speciali, per me, Kimbrel e Hicks.

On June 4 of last year I wrote the following, pertaining to Tom Glavine’s then recent release:
I don’t think Glavine will hold this against the organization for years to come.  He’ll probably look back on this decision 3 or 4 years down the road and say, “It was the correct decision, if I were GM I’d have done the same thing”. I’m sure of it.
Now that he’s pseudo-admitted the organization is right he’s taken a job as a special assistant to John Schuerholz.

I don’t know why, but he was always my least favorite of the big three. That’s not to say I didn’t like him, I was as big a Tom Glavine fan as the next Braves fan, I just liked Smoltz and Maddux a bit better.

But Glavine was the only one that was drafted and developed by the Braves and is one of the most legendary figures in Braves history. And he belongs in the front office, if for no other reason than to keep something involving the 14-year playoff run around in the organization for that much longer.

The organization is more healthy and stronger now that Tom Glavine is employed by them than they were yesterday when Tom Glavine wasn’t. Plain and simple.

Let’s just hope he doesn’t jump ship when the Mets fire Jerry Manuel or Omar Minaya.
Condivido al 100%, specialmente il boldato (link).

Qualche notizia in breve:

- abbiamo firmato Edward Salcedo per 1,6 milioni di $; ottima firma considerando il valore del giocatore e la pochezza nel ruolo nelle minors;

- Diory Hernandez dovrebbe saltare i prossimi 3-4 mesi a causa di un'opearazione alla spalla in seguito ad un infortunio patito durante la Dominican Winter League;

- nonostante l'esito negativo degli esami dei giorni scorsi, Jurrjens potrebbe iniziare la stagione in DL;

- Dimaster Delgado dovrebbe saltare tutto il 2010 a causa di due fratture subìte a seguito di un incidente automobilistico (in bocca al lupo!);

Go Braves! :forza:

:shocking:

Come non detto. :sbadat:
No interest in Mateo: One of our more knowledgeable bloggers inquired today about the Braves possibly having interest in Wagner Mateo, a 16-year-old outfielder from the Dominican whose $3.1 million agreement with the Cardinals was voided last year because he failed a physical.

But a Braves source have since informed me that they do not have any interest in Mateo.
Finalmente stasera si parte! :01:

Right-handed pitchers Juan Abreu and Kyle Cofield and left-handed pitcher Jose Ortegano were optioned to Mississippi (AA).
The six players who were re-assigned to minor league camp include right-handed pitchers Erik Cordier and Chris Resop, left-handed pitcher Mike Minor, catchers Braeden Schlehuber and Jesus Sucre and outfielder Cody Johnson.

The Atlanta Braves trimmed their spring roster by six players today, optioning two players and re-assigning four others. Left-handed pitcher Michael Dunn and right-handed pitcher Jeff Lyman were optioned to Gwinnett (AAA).

The four players who were re-assigned to minor league camp include left-handed pitcher Mariano Gomez, catcher Orlando Mercado and outfielders Brent Clevlen and Mitch Jones.

Cox said he told Heyward: “I’m delighted to tell you you’re on the team, Jason, simply because you make us a better team.”
