Luke Gregerson (arrivato dai Cards come PTBNL nell'affare Khalil Greene )
75IP, 2.50 FIP, 11 K/9, 3 BB/9. 45% GB.
Mo me lo segno.  :gazza:

PADRES SIGN PITCHER JON GARLAND

The San Diego Padres today announced they have signed pitcher Jon Garland to a one-year contract.

Garland, 30, went 11-13 last season with a 4.01 ERA between six starts with the Los Angeles Dodgers and 27 with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Garland spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Chicago White Sox. He won 18 games in 2005 and again in 2006. He has a career record of 117-102 with a 4.42 ERA over a 10-year career in the Major Leagues.

John Boggs, the agent for Padres star Adrian Gonzalez, told the San Diego Union-Tribune that San Diego would almost surely have to trade the talented first baseman because the team will not be able to afford a contract extension along the lines of what the Twins seem ready to confer upon star catcher Joe Mauer.
“I don’t ever want to speak for ownership because I have no knowledge of what they have and what they don’t,” Boggs told the Union-Tribune. “[But] the feeling we’re getting is more than likely [the Padres] are going to have to trade Adrian Gonzalez because [they] can’t afford him.”
Padres CEO Jeff Moorad did not dispute the statement. He suggested that his team's concern for its deployment of resources means that it must put the "long-term interests of the club" ahead of a single player.
"While I’d be thrilled to have him part of the organization for the long term," Moorad told the Union-Tribune, "the early signals indicate his cost will be greater than our ability to pay.”
The rare occurence of the expected.

And since when is AGon even a top 10 1B guy? I'd much rather have Pujols, Teixeira, Youkilis, Morneau, Cabrera among others over AGon. Guy hits .250. Talking about guys like Lars [anderson] who have 1 off year badly, but acting like AGon will move to a new town and become a .320 hitter is pretty naïve of you.
e ancora
A comparable player in my eyes to AGon is Jason Bay... AGon is just younger giving him higher value
