It appears free agent center Mats Sundin is prepared to sign with the Rangers, although he's unlikely to join the club until the last week of December.

Sundin, 37, has made the Blueshirts his No.1 option, with his agent J.P. Barry and Rangers GM Glen Sather having discussed terms of a contract Wednesday evening, sources told TFP.

According to the New York Post, the Rangers are waiting to clear enough cap space to present Sundin with a one-year, $6 million offer.
