Ci stiamo avvicinando. ESPN America tratterà benissimo l'evento. Gia da stasera tutti e 4 i Super-Regionals di oggi. FSU ha battutto 9-8 Vanderbilt. Poi TCU ha battuto 3 a 1 Texas.
Più tardi Miami-Florida e Fullerton-UCLA, sempre live.

INDIANAPOLIS - The eight super-regional hosts were announced today by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee.

A minimum of 45 hours of super-regional television will be provided by family of ESPN channels, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. Consult local listings for specific games shown in each area of the country. As many as 15 national broadcast windows could appear on the three ESPN networks from June 11-14.

The following four super regionals will be played Friday, June 11, Saturday, June 12, and Sunday, June 13 (if necessary).

GAMES BEGIN FRIDAY, JUNE 11

TCU (49-11) at No. 2 Texas (49-11)

Vanderbilt (45-18) at Florida State (45-17)

Cal St. Fullerton (45-16) at No. 6 UCLA (46-13)

Miami (Florida) (43-18) at No. 3 Florida (45-15)

The following four best-of-three super regionals will be played Saturday, June 12, Sunday, June 13, and Monday, June 14 (if necessary).

The determination of the Men's College World Series order of first-round games both Saturday, June 19, and Sunday, June 20, will be announced Monday, June 14. The ESPN family of networks and www.NCAA.com/cws will release the CWS game dates and times as soon as they are available.

The 64th College World Series begins play Saturday, June 19, at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska.

TCU ha relativamente poca roba quest'anno. Il migliore giocatore draftato è il ricevitore Bryan Holaday, C (Detroit, 6° giro). Poi Greg Holle, RHP (Milwaukee, 11), Steven Maxwell, RHP (Minnesota, 12), Matt Curry, 1B (Pittsburgh, 16), Tyler Lockwood, RHP (Boston, 25), Paul Gerrish, RHP (Houston, 42). C'è anche Matt Purke, futuro top 10 assoluto (e 14° assoluto l'anno scorso coi Rangers, senza firmare). Altri di alto livello sono Kyle Winkler, RHP e Jason Coats, LF.

Texas ha Chance Ruffin, RHP (Tigers, 1 supp.), Brandon Workman, RHP (Red Sox, 2), Cameron Rupp, C (Phillies, 3), Cole Green, RHP (Tigers, 4), Kevin Keyes, OF (Nationals, 7), Connor Rowe, OF (Nationals, 21), Russ Moldenhauer, DH/1B (Nationals, 24), Tant Shepherd, 1B (Reds, 47). Da segnalare anche il sophomore Taylor Jungmann, RHP top 10 l'anno prossimo, RHP.

Vanderbilt vs. FSU

Vanderbilt non ha più Pedro Alvarez e David Price, ma è una discreta squadra. Sono giovani però, ed i migliori giocatori non erano draftabili. Sono comunque stati draftati alcuni: Andrew Hayes, RHP (Reds, 11), Aaron Westlake, OF (Blue Jays, 22), Taylor Hill, RHP (Indians, 30), Russell Brewer, RHP (Rockies, 31), Andrew Giobbi, C (Mariners, 32), Chase Reed, RHP (Cardinals, 41). Segnalo per l'anno prossimo Sonny Gray, RHP (primo giro) e Jason Esposito, 3B. C'è anche Mike Yastrzemski, nipote di Yaz.

FSU ha avuto John Gast, LHP (Cardinals, 6), Geoff Parker, RHP (Rockies, 9), Tyler Holt, OF (Indians, 10), Stephen Cardullo, 3B (Diamondbacks, 24), Taiwan Easterling, OF (Marlins, 31), Mike McGee, RHP (Diamondbacks, 41). Tyler Holt è stato un furto scelto così in basso e non è male. McGee batte anche ed oggi ha battuto un walkoff HR. Non c'è moltissimo per l'anno prossimo, se non forse James Ramsey, OF.

Cal State Fullerton vs. UCLA (6)

Grande incontro. Fullerton ovviamente ha Christian Colon, SS (Royals, 1), Gary Brown, OF (Giants, 1), Corey Jones, 2B (Tigers, 7), Daniel Renken, RHP (Reds, 25), Kevin Rath, LHP (White Sox, 26), Kyle Mertins, RHP (Braves, 28), Chris Floethe, LHP (Diamondbacks, 29), Carlos Lopez, 1B (Tigers, 37), Billy Marcoe, C (Mariners, 41). Da aggiungere a questa lista Tyler Pill, OF e soprattutto l'eccellente Nick Ramirez, 1B/LHP, gran bel giocatore. Discreto anche Noe Ramirez, RHP.

UCLA ha Rob Rasmussen, LHP (Marlins, 2), Dan Klein, RHP (Orioles, 3), Matt Grace, LHP (Nationals, 8), Garrett Claypool, RHP (Phillies, 11), Matt Drummond, LHP (Orioles, 20), Chris Giovinazzo, OF (Rockies, 21), Erik Goeddel, RHP (Mets, 24), Brett Krill, OF (Giants, 25), Nick Gallego, 2B (Diamondbacks, 27), Mitchell Beacom, LHP (Royals, 36), Blair Dunlap, OF (Orioles, 43). Assieme ad Auburn ha avuto il massimo numero di giocatori draftati. Il migliore però è Gerrit Cole, probabilmente il miglior lanciatore del prossimo draft, ex-prima scelta degli Yankees. Nonostante tutti i draftati, il gruppo dei migliori è giovane. Da segnalare anche Trevor Bauer, LHP, Beau Amaral, CF, Tyler Rahmatulla, 2B, Dean Espy, 1B e Steve Rodriguez, C. In pratica tutta la squadra. Una delle favorite per la vittoria finale infatti.

Miami vs. Florida (3)

Miami ha Yasmani Grandal (Reds, 1), Chris Hernandez, LHP (Red Sox, 7), David Gutierrez, RHP (Twins, 18), Scott Lawson, 2B (Rays, 29), Iden Nazario, LHP (Cardinals, 30). Per i prossimi anni interessanti anche Harold Martinez, 3B, Nathan Melendres, CF e Michael Broad, DH.

Florida ha Kevin Chapman, LHP (Royals, 4), Matt Den Dekker, OF (Mets, 5), Tommy Toledo, RHP (Twins, 32), Hampton Tignor, C (Angels, 36), Justin Poovey, RHP (Angels, 41), Matt Campbell, RHP (Reds, 43). Ma hanno una squadra giovane e molto futuribile. Austin Maddox, 3B, è un potenziale freshman dell'anno, ed hanno anche Mike Zunino, C e Preston Tucker, 1B.

Arkansas vs. Arizona State (1)

Arkansas ha un trio di giocatori di altissimo livello più pochi altri di contorno. Zack Cox, 3B (Cardinals, 1), Brett Eibner RHP/OF (Royals, 2), Drew Smyly, LHP (Tigers, 2), Andy Wilkins, 1B (White Sox, 5), Mike Bolsinger, RHP (Diamondbacks, 15), Collin Kuhn, OF (Tigers, 15), Jordan Pratt, RHP (Tigers, 16), Jeremy Heatley, RHP (Marlins, 22).

ASU è una delle grandi favorite (forse LA favorita, per quanto Arkansas sia pericolosissima) ed ha Seth Blair (Cardinals, 1 supp.), Jordan Swagerty, RHP (Cardinals, 2), Merrill Kelly, RHP (Rays, 8), Kole Calhoun, OF (Angels, 8), Josh Spence, LHP (Padres, 9), Drew Maggi, SS (Pirates, 15), Jimmy Patterson, LHP (Rays, 18), Raoul Torrez, 2B (Diamondbacks, 21), Xorge Carrillo, C (Padres, 23), Jake Borup, RHP (Phillies, 23). Tanta roba per l'anno prossimo con Zack MacPhee, 2B, Riccio Torrez, 1B, Johnny Ruettiger, CF e Zach Wilson, DH.

Alabama vs. Clemson

Alabama ha Jimmy Nelson, RHP (Brewers, 2), Josh Rutledge, SS (Rockies, 3), Ross Wilson, 2B (White Sox, 10), Jake Smith, 3B (Phillies, 15), Tyler White, RHP (Tigers, 20), Justin Woodall, LHP (Rays, 26), Jason Townsend, RHP (Pirates, 31), Clay Jones 1B (Tigers, 32). Non è una grande squadra onestamente.

Clemson ha Kyle Parker, OF (Rockies, 1), Mike Freeman, SS (Diamondbacks, 11), John Hinson, 3B (Phillies, 13), Jeff Schaus, OF (Indians, 27), Casey Harman, LHP (Cubs, 29), John Nester, C (Athletics, 39). Solo l'interbase Brad Miller è uomo da primi 5 giri l'anno prossimo. Questo incontro è decisamente in chiave minore rispetto ad Arkansas-ASU o UCLA-Fullerton.

Oklahoma vs. Virginia (5)

Oklahoma ha Danny Black, 2B (Marlins, 14), Zach Neal, RHP (Marlins, 17), Garrett Buechele, 3B (Rangers, 18), Jeremy Erben, RHP (Diamondbacks, 22), Jason Chowning, RHP (Astros, 28). Non è una grande squadra, anche se le mazze di Tyler Ogle, C, Cameron Seitzer, 1B e Cody Reine, OF, non sono male. Discreto anche Chris Ellison, CF.

Virginia è nettamente favorita ed ha Jarrett Parker, OF (Giants, 2), Phil Gosselin, 2B (Braves, 5), Robert Morey, RHP (Marlins, 5), Kevin Arico, RHP (Reds, 10), Dan Grovatt, OF (Pirates, 11), Tyler Cannon, 3B (Indians, 12), Tyler Wilson, RHP (Reds, 35), Kenny Swab, C (Braves, 35), Neal Davis, LHP (Phillies, 36). Ci sono anche Danny Hultzen, LHP, futuro first rounder, e Steven Proscia, 3B.

South Carolina vs. Coastal Carolina (4)

South Carolina ha Sam Dyson, RHP (Blue Jays, 4), Whit Merrifield, OF (Royals, 9), Blake Cooper, RHP (Diamondbacks, 12), Bobby Haney, SS (Giants, 22), Steven Neff, LHP (Royals, 23), Parker Bangs, RHP (Royals, 31, uno dei migliori nomi del draft), Jordan Propst, RHP (Royals, 49). Saccheggiati dai Royals. Christian Walker, 1B, ha battuto Bryce Harper nel Power Showcase, mentre Jackie Bradley Jr. è un buon CF.

Coastal Carolina è nella Big South, ossia la conference di Matteo D'Angelo. Ha Cody Wheeler, LHP (Diamondbacks, 5), Rico Noel, OF (Padres, 5), Scott Woodward, 3B (Athletics, 15), Austin Fleet, RHP (Giants, 16), Chance Gilmore, OF (Dodgers, 25), Keith Hessler, LHP (Diamondbacks, 28), Jim Birmingham, LHP (Giants, 33). Rich Witten, 1B, Tommy LaStella, 2B, Taylor Motter, SS ed Anthony Meo, RHP, hanno prospettive future di essere draftati.

Ho visto la partita e sono rimasto impressionato da Purke. Solo 3 hits subite e 1BB concessa. Possibile top 5 pick nel 2011?

Se è un Freshman non potrà essere draftato fino al 2012, giusto?

Leggo che sara' eleggibile dopo il suo anno da Sophomore. (Ho letto anche qui, pezzo interessante sul draft 2011). Non conosco le regole che definiscono i criteri dell'eleggibilita'. Ricordo che lo scorso anno Chris Dwyer é stato draftato dai Royals da Clemson pur essendo solo un freshman.

E' presto ma per il draft del prossimo anno al momento direi Rendon, Cole e Purke.

però mi pareva che se uno va al college (uno serio eh, non uno JUCO) non può essere draftato per almeno due anni (frosh e sopho), però mi pare c'entri anche l'età...aspettiamo l'esperto :D

Per chi va in una "four year institution" - cioè un college normale, non uno JuCo - sono eleggibli gli Jr, i Sr e coloro che, pur essendo magari sophomore (o addirittura freshman) hanno già compiuto 21 anni di età.

Ha detto bene Luca. Quindi Purke sarà eleggibile già l'anno prossimo, ma essendo sophomore, è probabile che le sue richieste siano piuttosto alte (come d'altra parte erano anche l'anno scorso da senior liceale). E' nella stessa situazione di Zack Cox quest'anno.

Dai JC invece si può essere draftati tutti gli anni.

Per il draft dell'anno prossimo molto dipende anche dai liceali, comunque al momento c'è Rendon su tutti e difficilmente verrà spodestato.

Texas prevedibilmente sta battendo TCU, guidata da Taylor Jungmann. Se vince, poi ci sarà Brandon Workman nel rubber game. Il pitching di Texas è profondissimo e solo UCLA è paragonabile in materia.
Una volta neutralizzato Purke (ossia una volta persa la partita contro di lui :lol2: ) Texas è rimasta favorita grazie ai pitchers.

Anche UCLA probabilmente rimane favorita contro Fullerton per lo stesso motivo, ma lì è più dura perchè Fullerton è più forte di TCU (quando non lancia Purke).

Nei Super-Regionals, Florida sta battendo Miami 2-0. Se finisse così, Gators alle CWS.

Texas ha impattato con TCU, mentre UCLA e Fullerton sono sul 2-2. UCLA rischia di brutto a questo punto, perchè se Fullerton vince va alle CWS.

Ma con 6.2 IP di shutout, 2 on and 2 out, Florida toglie il partente e va dal closer. Primo battitore ed è una bomba in campo opposto! 3-2 Canes!

Eric Byrnes è peggio come commentatore che come giocatore. E' stato zittito di brutto una volta quando gli hanno detto di non dire fesserie e di tenere certe cose per sé (ha parlato di un giocatore che era andato al bagno). Poi il fuoricampo l'ha chiamato un "oppotaco with lettuce and cheese". Ridatemi Joe Morgan!

Nono inning bellissimo. La difesa dei Canes è vergognosa. Hernandez (draftato dai Sox) non vincerà, e Miranda ha la BS, ma la difesa è stata mortale.

3-3 adesso, basi cariche nella parte alta del nono... veramente bella nonostante tutto.
