Beh, sempre meglio che dover andare negli states anche se speravo in qualche altra località più comoda.

NFL to return to the United Kingdom in 2008

National Football League

The NFL is heading back across the pond.

After playing a highly successful game in London last October, the NFL announced that it would return to the United Kingdom for a regular-season game in 2008 as part of the NFL’s International Series of regular-season games.

“The game in London was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the entire 2007 season,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “The fan interest was tremendous. The passion they demonstrated for our sport that day continued throughout the season, as television viewership in the U.K. has grown by 40 percent since the game. We had an overwhelmingly positive response to the event from all involved – the teams, our sponsors and business partners and of course the fans themselves. We look forward to another spectacular event in 2008.”

Details about the game -– including the venue and competing teams -– are expected to be confirmed during Super Bowl week (Jan. 28-Feb. 3) in Arizona.

In 2006, NFL owners approved a five-year plan to stage a limited number of regular-season games outside the United States. The series kicked off in London on October 28 when the New York Giants defeated the Miami Dolphins, 13-10, before a sellout crowd of 81,176 at Wembley Stadium.

The NFL played its first-ever regular-season game outside the United States on Oct. 2, 2005 at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. A crowd of 103,467 –- the largest for a regular-season game in NFL history –- saw the Arizona Cardinals defeat the San Francisco 49ers, 31-14.

Per il prossimo anno forse i Buffalo Bills 2 partite a Toronto!

Mentre per le prossime partite in Europa la liste delle sqaudre dovrebbero essere :
Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints e Seattle Seahawks sempre in Ottobre!!!

Speriamo almeno anticipino la data, quella del 2007 è stata disastrata dal clima...

Beh, capisco che il clima londinese sia pazzerello, ma andarci l'ultimo week end di ottobre è comunque un rischio alto, penso...

Mi immagino la gioia dei giocatori di Tampa se dovessero giocarsi una loro partita in casa in quel di Londra... :gazza:

Florida? Pioggia? Penso che ricordi l'ultima partita giocata in Florida sotto la pioggia!

Che il rischio fosse alto si sapeva, ma c'è stata anche abbastanza sfiga. E poi comunque non puoi anticiparlo molto perchè hai bisogno del bye dopo. Tra l'altro mi sembra strano che si parli dei Seahawks perché si era detto che avrebbero portato solo squadre dell'East Coast a causa del fuso orario.

Lo fai alla 3, è metà settembre e dopo hai il bye.

It looks like the San Diego Chargers and the New Orleans Saints will be the next group of NFL teams to take their show overseas.

According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, the Chargers will play the Saints in London on Oct. 26. The game will most likely take place at Wembley Stadium, which is where the New York Giants beat the Miami Dolphins last October.

Chargers President Dean Spanos would not confirm San Diego's involvement to the newspaper but said, "We want to go. I'm cautiously optimistic."

Commissioner Roger Goodell is expected to make the announcement official at his Super Bowl media conference on Friday, according to the Union-Tribune.

This will be just the league's second regular-season game played outside North America. The meeting between New York and Miami this past October was the first.

Sarebbe una partita molto divertente da vedere, IMHO. E ci andrei molto volentieri. :gazza:
