Patrice Bergeron is out indefinitely with a concussion. Here is the link:

Will you please allow?

Rejected. Please give us a two days old link that states that the player is going to be out for at least two weeks, or wait for yahoo to give him the IR status.

Seriously, this guy will likely be sidelined for much more than 2 weeks. I think there's no reason whatsoever to deny this IR request.

That's wonderful, just give us a link that says so.
"When examined this morning, his condition had improved greatly over last night, and he was released from the hospital," Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said. "There is no timetable for his return to the ice."
This isnt enough, "no timetable" means he might be sidelined for somewhere in between the minimum amount of time (which is 10 days for a concussion) or for the worst amount (which could be the rest of is career). It isn't enough to allow the Injured reserve status, sorry.

Given the fact Bergeron has entirely missed last season and he's definitely prone to this kind of injuries, I find your post pretty amusing.
And for your information, "there's no timetable" doesn't mean a short period of time. It means they (the doctors) still have to define what they're dealing with. Besides, 10 days for a concussion? Do some research on the web before posting this BS.
Seriously.

I find your words pretty amusing, since we're actually sharing a point. "there's no timetable" means there is no timetable. Which, like you said, depends on test results. Which could mean a long time if they are positive, and no time at all if they are negative. The rulebook states clearly the only information we need is a reliable link stating the player is going to miss at least two weeks. I don't think it'll be hard to find a link that says so, and history of the patient doesn't mean jack, this isn't a hospital. You can argue all you want but that still won't change the rules.

It's actually part of my real life job to invite you to do less research on the web, which most of the times could be misleading, and more on a medicine book. :D
Depending on the grade of the concussion you could get back to training on the same day. 10 days of 'no action' is just the procedure on pro sports in north america and most of europe.

Seriously?! I didn't make this IR request until Mik had prompted me to do so!!! You might want to take it up with him.
http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bru ... ck/?page=2
Bergeron, who suffered a concussion against Carolina a week ago, remains at his Boston home.
"I know for a fact that today was better than [Thursday]," said Julien after yesterday's practice at Ristuccia Arena. "It's definitely positive news."
Bergeron had been suffering from headaches earlier in the week. There is no timetable for his return.
What exactly do you think that insinuates?? That his return is imminent? Especially after such a serious concussion injury from last year?
And here's medical literature that will support my argument:
http://www.uptodate.com/online/content/ ... _result#21
We recommend that athletes with a single concussion who have suffered loss of consciousness or who have symptoms of concussion lasting more than 15 minutes NOT return to play until asymptomatic for at least one week (Grade 1C). We suggest that athletes who have suffered repeated concussions that are associated with either loss of consciousness or symptoms for more than 15 minutes NOT return to play that season.
Your concussion guideline that you made up is complete bullshit. You might want to do some better research and think logically.

It could, yes. It wouldn't be the first case of healthcare negligence, would it? Still, that's not the point.
When you have an injured player on the main roster that is not listed as IR by yahoo despite the fact he is supposed to miss around 2 weeks or more, you have a chance to require on the forum the IR status for that player.
You need to ask for it in the apposite thread posting at least one reliable and two-days-old link maintaining that your player is supposed to miss 2 weeks of action or more.
If the link and its content are judged reliable and convincing, you’ll have the opportunity to temporarily drop that player without him being exposed to waivers on the forum even if he is a veteran (>100).
That's the point. Maybe Mik should have prompted you to read the rulebook as well. I also invite you to read page 5 of this thread where a similar request was made, and the IR status was rejected. Different injury, same words, same results. sorry. Take it up with who invented the 'lower body injury' and 'no timetable' thing, that's Lindy Ruff, not me.

A Grade 1 concussion can be treated with rest. The person may return to sports activity on the same day, after examination and after all the symptoms have completely resolved. If another concussion of any severity is sustained on the same day they should not be allowed to do any contact sports until all the symptoms have completely resolved during both rest and activity for 7-10 days.
My bad, I thought the symptom-free part was implied, since Anzer appeared to be already all knowing, and I didn't think I was here for a neurology lesson :D
Btw that's me translating from Robbins & Cotran Pathologic basis of disease 2004 edition. So you might want to keep your personal comments for yourself. Have a nice evening!

Sometimes this really looks like a Mickey Mouse League.
Jovo, you're a smart guy, but I found more open minded people in North Korea the last I time I was there for business.

Care to remind me if this is Bergeron's first concussion?
Also, the rule states the player can be dropped if the source is reliable and convincing. I would say that, given Bergeron's history, it's fairly evident he will be out for a while. I say we put this to a vote.

It's not a matter of being right or wrong, open or close minded. It's a matter of having a precedent. That's why we have been pretty anal about some things.
I actually agree with you, I just can't give you something based on my or your knowledge and not give it to another owner just because their players don't have a 'history'. If we do, anyone could ask for IR for any player with an unsure return date based on this precedent. I honestly don't want to deal with that, sorry.
You can either waive the player since you are so sure he's done for the season, or wait about 24-48 hours before either yahoo gives him the IR status or a reliable link comes out stating how long he'll be out.
