Dite quello che volete, io il nome del topic non lo cambio. Con questo titolo siamo arrivati ad una partita dal battere San Antonio. A conti fatti siamo ancora più bravi di molte altre squadre, abbiamo vinto cinquanta gare giocando senza centri (perchè Marks e Armstrong attualmente non sono proprio giocatori di basket) per parecchie partite, senza uno schema che sia uno e con un pagliaccio in panchina.
Se volete considerarla una stagione fallimentare, fate pure. A me sinceramente non sembra. Sotto le attese, sì, ma i problemi di questa squadra esistevano già, ovvero una rotazione dei lunghi cortissima e un incompetente sul pino.
Io sarei incazzato per i 58 punti di scarto con Denver. Quello è inaccettabile, vergognoso, non uscire al primo turno con un'ottima squadra, senza il fattore campo, dopo aver fatto mezza stagione a meno di almeno due giocatori fondamentali.

Hornets team president Hugh Weber said on Thursday that the team will not trade All-Stars David West and Chris Paul just to avoid having to pay luxury tax.

New Orleans is expected to have a payroll of $76 million this season, and the tax threshold is expected to be around $68 million for the 2008-09 campaign.

Chad Shinn, the son of team owner George Shinn, said it is "very unlikely" that West would be moved.

"The luxury tax is something that all teams are concerned about, not small-market teams, not teams in New Orleans, not teams owned by George Shinn, but all teams are concerned about the luxury tax because it is punitive," Weber said. "I think the real question is if we have to go over the luxury tax to be competitive, will we? And the answer is yes. At the same time, you have to ask yourself the question if you don't have to, we won't. ... A lot of the speculation is that (getting under the luxury tax) is the priority, and it's not.

"We are looking to improve in a traditional way. We normally have five or six or seven roster changes a year. That's just the natural chain of events. Chris and David have been key to this team. And I don't see that ever changing. And you talk about guys like Tyson and Peja, and these guys are critical to the core of this team. But I don't want to tie anybody's hands and say Jeff can't talk about or we are not going to talk about (trading certain players). You can't speculate. But I tell you, we are planning to move about with the traditional roster changes that we have and not some blowup breakdown type of process."

Gli Hornets hanno comunicato che le operazioni a cui si sono sottoposti il centro Tyson Chandler e l'ala James Posey sono riuscite perfettamente.

Il primo è stato operato alla caviglia per un'infiammazione ed all'alluce mentre il secondo al ginocchio.

Jannero Pargo's agent continues to speak with the Hornets about a possible return to the club.

"Jeff (Bower, Hornets general manager) and I spoke (Tuesday) about a bunch of things and Jannero was something we discussed and we'll take it a step at a time and see where it goes," Mark Bartelstein said. "There's nothing new to talk about now, but we'll look at it and see what happens.

"I think you could say there's mutual interest. That's fair to say."

Boh, stiamo a vedere, certo è che la maggior parte di questi nomi sono da secondo giro (dove per ora non abbiamo scelte); la nostra scelta (#21) resta comunque una di quelle a più alto rischio cessione.


Edit: Certo che il nostro sito è curato da una massa di babbi: abbiamo provinato Nevill (centro australiano che ha giocato in NCAA, a Utah) e in home page hanno messo una foto dell'idolissimo Joe Ingles (australiano anche lui, ma è una SF e ha giocato in NBL).
Ma un minimo di informazione e cura in più? Brutto?

Chris Paul knows that the Hornets may undergo changes this offseason.
He also sounded like he might welcome some improvements during an interview with the Times-Picayune on Saturday.
"It's going to be interesting to see what happens. ... We obviously didn't win a championship this year, so there may be some changes made. We know we've just got to get better," Paul said.
He feels as though the team's goal is to be playing at this time next year.
"I think (there's a need to improve) just all around," Paul said. "It was such an up-and-down season for us. A lot of people would say that just our bench needs to get better. We all have to get better as a collective unit. Definitely our bench has to get stronger. Our first unit, we get down in a lot of games early, so I say it starts with me."

Gattison ci lascia

New Orleans Hornets assistant coach Kenny Gattison is leaving after six years.
His contract expires at the end of this month. The team says the Hornets and Gattison agreed he could pursue other opportunities.
Coach Byron Scott calls Gattison an integral part of the team's success. The coach said during pre-draft workouts Friday that he does not have a replacement lined up.

Si ok 2 ottimi giocatori, ma nei 2 ruoli che siamo più "affollatissimi":

Play: Paul-Collison-Pargo(che dovremmo rifirmare)-Daniels(che dovremmo scambiare)

Guardie: Butler-Brown-Thorton-Peterson(che a questo punto bisogna assolutamente tradare)

Poi si è capito che riuscire a scambiare Peja sarà praticamente impossibile, quindi la dirigenza vuole sacrificare Chandler; a quel punto la dirigenza dovrà prendere un altro centro titolare e un 4/5 buono a bassi costi.

Comunque cè tantissimo da lavorare e inventare quest'estate...
