Queste sei sconfitte consecutive hanno un solo aspetto positivo, hanno tolto qualsiasi idea di essere contenders in questo anno ai dirigenti Royals.
Per cui cediamo subito Podsednik, Guillen e Farnsworth per poca roba e portiamo su Gordon , Kila e un rilievo giovane ( Hardy? Coleman?). Insomma Pods ,Jose e il professore il 1 agosto spero che non siano piu' a KC.
Cerchiamo di tradare subito DeJesus , ma senza svenderlo dato che ha nel 2011 una club option amichevole a 6M. Leggevo dell'interesse di Giants, Padres e Red Sox nei suoi confronti.
Infine Soria, praticamente sotto controllo fino al 2014 a cifre ragionevoli; insomma cercherei di vendere coloro che non faranno parte della squadra giovane che si presume possa essere a KC tra 2012/2013. Cerchiamo giovani che possano essere utili tra un paio di anni.

Different people see those walks in different ways. Some think Kila’s plate discipline make him an outstanding prospect … especially because he’s a big guy (6-foot-3, 233 pounds) who has shown some signs of big-time power (he hit 37 homers in 124 minor league games in 2008). The feeling — and I’m in this camp — is that his great pitch recognition would translate really well to the big leagues … a younger Travis Hafner comes to mind.
Others, though, think that Kila is TOO patient, TOO passive, not aggressive enough, and that lack of aggression combined with a slowish bat does not project as an every day first baseman (especially because his glove seems quite a bit below average).
The Royals will tell you that they simply don’t have a spot in the lineup for him — Billy Butler already plays first base and the Royals are paying Jose Guillen a lot of money to be the team’s DH. But my point here is not the Royals’ roster management but their judgment. My point here is that the Royals simply do not value Ka’aihue’s talent for getting on base, certainly not enough to find out what they have. They see those walks as more of a negative than a positive. They do not value his talents.

Callaspo finisce agli Angels per il RHP Sean O'Sullivan e il LHP Will Smith. O'Sullivan dovrebbe andare diretto a KC, mentre Smith é diretto in A+.
Poco da dire sulla trade, due prospetti minori con upside limitato. Smith é giovane ( classe 89) e potrebbe riservare qualche sorpresa, anche visto che é stato fatto salire in fretta nel farm system Angels.
O'Sullivan potrebbe fare qualche start vista l'emergenza infortuni, ma probabilmente si prospetta come un rilievo lungo o se va bene un 5th starter

Callaspo andava ceduto, visto che per il prossimo anno in 3B dovrebbe partire Mike Moustakas. Ha avuto un anno non buono finora, battendo .275/.308/.410. La Babip si é normalizzata rispetto allo scorso anno, BB solo nel 5.8% delle PA, la slugging é scesa. Peccato non essere riusciti a cederlo durante l'offseason, ma nel momento in cui il suo valore si era di molto abbassato.

Intanto si evita lo sweep vincendo la terza allo Yankee stadium.

Perdiamo l'ultimo matche della serie da 4 con gli yankees per 12-6.

Segniamo due punti nel terzo grazie a un HR di Podsednik ( ne battera' un altro nell'ottavo) , ma gli Yankees tornano subito in vantaggio grazie a un HR di Granderson, doppio di Teixeira, singolo di Teixeira e doppio di A-Rod.
Da li gli Yankees controllano il match e lo chiudono definitivamente nell'ottavo maltrattando il povero Wood con 5 punti.
