you just cant say enough about osullivan. we havent had a performance like that in years...and with 8 sacks. ive been saying all along...both lines are a total disaster. i thought they did well to draft there...but both picks are at the bottom of the depth chart.
how do you not get a starter in the first 2 rounds with such bad starting lines????
are you telling me that the 30th best college player in the country couldnt crack those horrendous
lines?
again and again, nolan's talent evaluation - minus willis - has been god awful up and down the line.

most of these guys have been here awhile and every team with any kind of pass rush just shreds them. smith never had time...not that he wouldve known what to do with it.

where is rachal? jennings is a joke. snyder, heitmann, wragge...average to below average. obviously some of these guys are not NFL starters.
how many sacks did they give up last year? 60?
and this year already? 13?
i mean, cmon!

with any kind of protection this offense could actually be something. that kind of protection wont cut it down the road. osullivan will get killed and then where will we be?

and dont even get me started on the defensive line?
how does nolan - a defensive guy - run things for 4 years and end up with no nose tackle or DT of any talent at all?

thats the anchor. teams just kill the middle of that line. 100 yard rushers every week.
with a stouter defense - nolan's specialty, supposedly - and any kind of o-line, this team is playoff bound.

it all starts with the line - after the QB.

Ah, sono in striscia di 3 compleanni con vittoria dei niners (quest'anno e l'anno scorso regalo anticipato).

Puo' darsi che questo commento non sia molto sbagliato, pero' il talento lo valuta McCoso, non Nolan

Anch'io condivido. Comunque JT sta giocando bene, ho visto solo spezzoni di partita quando potevo, ma non è male come credevo.

...la O-line è un problema che però verrà sicuramente "accentuato" dal pass happy sistem che Martz ha installato.
L'articolo di Maiocco mi pare dicesse in soldoni che degli 8 sack 2 sono attribuibili a JTO che ha cazzeggiato troppo (aka la linea aveva tenuto per il tempo necessario)... ne rimangono 6 che non sono bruscoli.

Il talento sarà modesto ma come risposta non mi basta. La linea del 2006 (ottima) nel 2007 fece letteralmente schifo. Solo colpa di una condizione approssimativa del centro Eric Heitmann, reduce da una frattura alla gamba e solo ora recuperato al 100%? Solo colpa di Joe Staley? Non credo proprio, alla fin della fiera fu il migliore (solo vittimizzato da Strahan a NY, per il resto ok). La risposta è complessa e riconduce tutto all'offensive coordinator dell'anno scorso.

Quest'anno Martz "chiede molto" (alla linea, qb, hb e Wr) ma già dopo due partite possiamo dire che ne vale la pena (basta confrontare i total offense del 2007 in casa con Arizona e @ Seattle con quelli di quest'anno... scusate la semplificazione...) se vogliamo muovere la palla.

Sicuramente bisogna fare meglio e pregare che JTO rimanga intero.

Però bisogna anche dire basta agli spostamenti di ruolo... nelle altre franchigie (quelle NON allenate da Nolan) una dept chart di una OT ha una sua fisionomia e la si cambia solo per infortuni o per cause di forza maggiore.

Noi dall'anno scorso:

- spostamento di un T al secondo anno (Staley) dal lato destro al sinistro. Ma Staley dove giocava al college? Boh...
- spostamento di un T sempre rotto (e che mi ha rotto) (Jennings) dal lato sinistro al lato destro... visto che è sempre rotto immagino si volesse dare continuità al delicato ruolo di LT e con Jennings si è visto che non è possibile. Quindi Staley deve reimparare tutto. Al secondo anno. E Jennings si "rompe" comunque anche dall'altra parte... ma vaff.. (a proposito: infortunio reale o diplomatico? cmnq. con Sims se ho capito bene siamo andati decisamente meglio)
- spostamento di un LT a LG (Snyder) per sostituire Larry Allen.
- sostituzione di Baas con Wragge a RG visto che immagino Baas non abbia ancora recuperato.

Quindi Staley paga il noviziato del ruolo, Jennings non ce la fa (ma riusciamo a tagliarlo a fine anno? fanculo il contrattone che gli han firmato... è 'na condanna...), Wragge deduco andasse decisamente meglio come sostituto che titolare, Baas deve recuperare il terreno perduto (cos'è? una scelta da secondo giro? mica abbiamo buttato anche questa?) ed è rimasto solo Heitmann al suo posto...

... ci sono peccati originali (Jennings) che generano disastri a cascata (e la colpa iniziale di quel contratto basta e avanza) però draftare gente altissima nel primo giorno di draft (lo facciamo da tre anni) e poi scoprirli o bidoni o incognite (perchè non giocano) mi lascia molto perplesso... ho capito che McCoughlan drafta meglio di Donahue & Ericson: ma ci voleva decisamente poco.

Per torrisone: al college Staley arrivò come TE (all'HS aveva il record sui 200 metri: 21.9  ), poi aumentò di peso e passo a RT nel 2004, poi giocò LT nel 2005 e nel 2006, che potesse essere spostato a LT visto le poche garanzie offerte da Jennings se ne parlava già l'anno scorso. Tra l'altro Jennings è reduce da un ottimo TC e invece sta facendo schifo. Snyder invece mi sembra abbia sempre giocato guardia, mentre Baas paga l'infortunio che l'ha tenuto fuori per tutto il TC perché Wragge ha giocato molto bene e gli ha sostanzialmente tolto il posto visto anche che non si voleva toccare la "chimica" dell'interno della linea che si era creata tra Snyder-Heitman (che l'anno prossimo sarà FA e non dovrebbe essere confermato per far costo a Wallace)-Wragge.
Che la linea era un punto di domanda si sapeva, e giocare nel sistema di Martz non l'aiuta di certo: si devono stringere i denti e andare avanti.

Ma Lawson ha ancora problemi fisici? Leggevo in offseason che questo doveva essere il suo anno, al ritorno dall'infortunio dello scorso. La stagione in cui avrebbe dato un upgrade notevole alla passrush dei Niners e aiutato Willis. Vedo due gare abbastanza anonime per il momento..
