Niente male come prima sgambata stagionale. Decisamente più note positive che negative.

Up: - il sistema Arians in generale mi sembra già settato e pronto a fare clic
- il drive di Ben è stato...breve ma intenso :figo:
- dai a zio Ced quello che è di zio Ced...Wilson ha preso tutto quello che si trovava a passare dalle sue parti; da escludere il taglio se continua così
- Santonio c'è
- per Walter Young ancora practice squad?

- Kendall Simmons mi è parso un giocatore di football; visto un paio di volte in pull, sembrava....Faneca
- Carey Davis: un bel torello; due belle giocate...lo screen concluso con la tranvata al DB e quella corsa lungo la sideline che s'è sviluppata in maniera speculare a quella di FWP in quel di Detroit
- Gary Russell non è malvagio

- la difesa ha mostrato qualcosa di quel caos organizzato di cui abbiamo parlato su queste pagine, ma la first unit è stata davvero troppo poco in campo per dare un giudizio
- Wood può davvero diventare l'arma totale...non è detto che uno dei tuoi migliori rushatori sia capace di coprire in quel modo un target 15/20 yards dietro la linea di scrimmage
- William Gay, uno di cui non si era MAI detto nulla finora: separa Meachem dal pallone e poi mette a segno l'unico intercetto della serata...teniamolo d'occhio
- Sepulveda molto sicuro; senza strafare, due punt dentro le 20 avversarie e uno lungo con un hangtime infinito...può fare di meglio, ma la scelta è ben spesa
- la cover unit sui ritorni non ha concesso praticamente nulla...Ligashesky continua così

Down: - per Nate Washington vale il discorso inverso a quello di Wilson; sporca il perfect drive di Ben con un drop sanguinoso quando aveva già un piede in end zone...di lui si dice che abbia mezzi fisici e margine, ma stando a ieri sera Ced è dentro e lui è a rischio
- la soluzione al "caso punt/kick off returner" è ancora lontana...il tanto atteso Willie Reid s'è presentato alla Steeler Nation in versione Colclough e quasi ci scappa la frittata; diamo ancora fiducia al ragazzo, ma cominciamo a vagliare il piano B
- e i TE dove sono?

- situazione RB...i back up pronosticati - Davenport e Barlow soprattutto - decisamente una spanna sotto agli outsider Davis e Russell. Se la tendenza è questa spero che coach T valuti la situazione col massimo dell'obiettività senza tener troppo conto di chi ha tot anni di Nfl e chi no
- sbaglio o Max Starks è stato provato anche da LT? Più o meno quando sono venuti i due sack consecutivi :gazza:

Che altro dire: l'anno scorso una preseason da 0-4...può non voler dire nulla, ma è sempre meglio vincere.

starks è stato provato a sinistra...uno dei due sack è decisamente colpa sua...l'altro il QB ha tenuto troppo la palla.
ragionando in modo più lucido nn sono per niente rassicurato dalla OL e, anche se gli starter hanno giocato veramente poco, completa mancanza di pass rush.
vabbè che è preseason, ma se vogliamo vincere la division (cioè battere i corvacci) ancora nn ci siamo

niente sack, ma dopo 30 minuti di football i Saints avevano nemmeno 60 yards di total offense
la linea dei Ravens non è quella dell'anno scorso :gazza:

Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said past success in the league is a plus for a player trying to make the team.
But, he added, "When I look out there, I just see running backs. I don't see guys that have been in (the NFL) five years, six years, one year. Whoever's putting it in the right spot, holding onto the ball and getting physical, those are the guys you get excited about."

Ieri s'è tornati a lavoro a Latrobe. Faneca e Foote fuori a causa di piccoli acciacchi.
Colon ha riassaggiato la first unit da right tackle, con Starks provato ancora da LT con la 2nd.
Il posto del Rosso è stato preso da Kemoeatu...qualcuno su PittsburghLIVE faceva notare che il ragazzino ha un nome da cannibale KEMO-EAT-U :lol2:
Dov'erano i TE domenica? Beh almeno di Matt Spaeth si è saputo che non è mai sceso in campo per un infortunio alla spalla.

) anche ieri Timmons s'è visto gli allenamenti dalla sideline.
Sul campo gli highlights sono stati un intercetto in tuffo di William Gay - questo c'ha il vizietto

- e una bomba di Godsend per Santonio sbucato alle spalle di TAP...non il palermitano, ma sua maestà Troy Aimua Polamalu.

Intanto mi sa che sabato sarà difficile beccare la partita da qualche parte; non la danno su un network nazionale, quindi al massimo si va di play-by-play...se qualcuno avesse altre notizie in merito, mi piemmizzi pure.

Piccolo problemino al piede sinistro per Big Ben alla fine dell'allenamento di ieri. È uscito zoppicando ma pare che non sia assolutamente nulla di grave.

In altre news: per la prima volta nella storia della franchigia quest'anno avremo anche noi la mascotte, che è stata chiamata "Steely McBeam". Ne facevamo volentieri anche a meno, non l'abbiamo mai avuta perchè ci serve adesso?

Non ho avuto modo di vedere la partita...leggendo un pò in giro:

- Ben stavolta s'è beccato subito un sack con fumble e non ha fatto magie nelle due serie giocate

- la linea ha concesso 5 sack, di cui - pare - due da imputare al LT d'occasione Max Starks

- le secondarie hanno fatto un'altra ottima partita, soprattutto nel primo tempo

- Gary Russell 9 x 56, Walter Young ha siglato l'unico TD con una ricezione da 41 yards

- l'eroe di Canton, Carey Davis non compare nelle statistiche...non credo abbia giocato - qualcuno ne sa qualcosa?

- Cedrick Wilson non ha ripetuto la prestazione della settimana scorsa - nemmeno una ricezione all'attivo - ma pare che da ritornatore sia andato meglio di Reid

Uno che l'ha vista:

The Max Starks at left tackle experiment took a hit in Saturday night's preseason 13-9 loss to Green Bay.

Starks struggled in pass protection at left tackle, looking lost at the position this week.

At right tackle Willie Colon looked good, especially run blocking. But that was never a question for him. He did a good job in pass protection as well, but did have a holding penalty.

© Many may have been wondering what happened to Carey Davis, the team's leading rusher in the preseason opener?

The Steelers are apparently happy with what they saw from Davis last week running the ball and wanted to get a look at him as a lead blocker.

They had to like what they saw. Davis, who also had the tackle on the opening kickoff, had an outstanding block to spring Kevan Barlow on a 17-yard run. Later, he was killing guys as a lead blocker for Gary Russell.

Davis has this team made.

That's bad news for John Kuhn, who likely gets cut now that Davis has shown he can play both fullback and halfback.

© Russell is also pushing for a roster spot, but at whose expense?

He likely has to prove that he can play as a third-down back and pick up the blocking duties that entails to have a shot to unseat Verron Haynes, who's an outstanding pass blocker.

He'll probably get his shot at that next week.

© Sean Mahan looked much better at center than Chukky Okobi. I wouldn't be surprised if Mahan gets the start at center again next week in Washington.

He's just a stronger player.

We didn't get to see Mahan getting out in front on any screen plays like Okobi did last week, but I have to believe he can do that as well.

© The Steelers dodged a big bullet when Chris Hoke got leg-whipped by William Gay on a missed tackle in the third quarter.

The initial diagnosis is a hyperextended knee, but it could have been much worse.

Though he's a backup, Hoke could start for a lot of teams. And he's more than capable of giving Casey Hampton a rest at any time or place on the field.

Had Hoke been lost, the team would have been forced to move Travis Kirschke to nose tackle to back up Hampton.

© All that work on special teams and they still don't know how to block on a PAT.

It looked like long-snapper Greg Warren just kept his head down and didn't block anybody on that blocked kick. He also got no help whatsoever from Kendall Simmons, who was lined up to his left, or Chris Kemoeatu, who was on his right.

They all appeared to try to block down on their men.

© Walter Young has been around forever and now has the inside track on being this team's No. 6 receiver this season. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself.

Young has been catching everything at practice and now it's translating over to the games.

At 6-5, he's the biggest of the Steelers receivers and gives the team something none of the other receivers can.

Da quel che ho letto l'infortunio a Hoke dovrebbe essere meno grave del previsto, tanto che si parla di un ritorno agli allenamenti già in settimana.

8 sack in due partite, di cui la metà da sinistra.
Questo, unito al fatto che Timmons non s'è mai visto in campo, che Marvel Smith non è un ragazzino e Starks non è la risposta ed ha comunque solo un anno di contratto, inizia a far sorgere qualche domanda sul perchè la questione "linea d'attacco" sia stata sostanzialmente ignorata in sede di draft - non me ne voglia Stephenson.
Da dire che Smith, come molti dei titolari, ha giocato pochissimo finora...in più si sta ruotando parecchio il personale, quando si sa che la OL ha bisogno più di altri reparti di continuità.
Trai Essex pare completamente scomparso dai radar.
