Former Packers running back Ahman Green was back at Lambeau Field today working out for the team, according to an NFL source.

They also had running back Dominic Rhodes in for a workout, the source said.

The 32-year old Green, who is second on the Packers' career rushing list with 8,162 yards and a four-time Pro Bowl selection, has been out of football since Feb. 10, when the Houston Texans released him. Green left the Packers in free agency following the 2006 season and signed a four-year, $27 million deal with the Texans in 2007. He played in only 14 games over two years with the Texans due to injuries. He has been living at least part time in Green Bay for the past six months.

Rhodes, 30, has been out of football since he was released by the Buffalo Bills on April 17. He last played during the 2008 season with the Indianapolis Colts. He split time with Joseph Addai and rushed for 538 yards in 15 games (including four starts).

A quanto pare, secondo una radio locale, pare abbia firmato. Botta di nostalgia pura. Grant avrà un po' più di pepe sul culo, ma credo manterrà abbastanza agevolmente il posto.

ora è ufficiale

Running back Ahman Green has signed a one-year contract with the Packers, an NFL source said.

Green, 32, played seven of his 11 NFL seasons with the Packers from 2000 to 2006 before signing a free-agent contract with the Houston Texans. He now rejoins a Packers team with Ryan Grant entrenched as the starter.

Green's base salary will be the prorated portion of the $845,000 veteran minimum, the source said. It seems likely there also are sweeteners Green can earn through playing time and/or production.

According to another source, the Packers cleared room for Green on the roster by placing running back DeShawn Wynn on injured reserve.

Wynn, who had been playing on third downs, has been bothered by a knee injury since camp and was expected to miss four weeks, according to sources.

For his career, Green (6-foot, 217 pounds) has rushed 2,015 times for 9,045 yards (4.5 average) and 59 touchdowns. He also has 375 carries for 2,865 yards and 14 scores.

UPDATE, 10:21 a.m.: The Packers have confirmed both moves. As usual, they did not specify any terms for Green's deal.

Cito un'arguta affermazione dall'articolo di nfl.com che parlava del ritorno di Green e Tauscher...

"The moves make it seem like the Packers are loading up for a run at the Super Bowl -- the 2004 Super Bowl."  :sbadat:
