Per ora è solo una voce, comunque a noi un secondo giro ci servirebbe come il pane e Lynch è uno dei pochi giocatori "non starter" che hanno un qualche valore. In altri siti si è parlato di trade anche per Donte Whitner.

Questi i primi tagli di off season:

According to the Buffalo Bills' team website, the new regime at One Bills Drive released seven players on Tuesday: TE Derek Fine, DE Jermaine McGhee, LB Ashlee Palmer, DT Marcus Smith, S John Wendling, WR Justin Jenkins and C Marvin Philip.

It looks as though the new regime isn't going to keep many players around that are only special teams contributors, being that they let go of Palmer, Wendling and Jenkins. All three were key contributors on the team's coverage units under former special teams coordinator Bobby April.

The team had significant investments in two of these players, as Fine was a fourth-round pick in 2008, while Wendling was a sixth-round pick in 2007. McGhee, Smith and Philip were placed on IR prior to the season beginning. Palmer is not a good schematic fit for the team's new 3-4 defense, and Jenkins may have been the casualty of a numbers game at receiver.

a questo punto pare ovvio andare alla prima con un OT:

Butler Retiring: The Bills released a statement today announcing the retirement of Brad Butler. The offensive lineman informed the team today his career is over. He missed most of last season after suffering a knee injury early in the season after switching from guard to tackle. Butler is considered to have a career in politics after football as he has been preparing for life after football all along. He previously interned for Jack Kemp. Still his retirement is a surprise since he's only been in the league four seasons and may have been a starter once again this year. He had 39 career starts in 42 games.

Giusto per ricollegarmi al discordo 3-4 vs 4-3. Non sono un grossissimo esperto di Difesa (non che lo sia di attacco...  ), ma la frase che conclude questo articolo preso da NFL.com apre una chiave di lettura interessante.

Il termine "modern" è, IMHO, l'elemento fondamentale per analizzare la difesa 3-4 e la difesa 4-3. Il nuovo modo di attaccare delle squadre dove si vedono sempre più pass-first team e sempre più single-back formation, rende fondamentale la presenza di un LB in più (o almeno di un uomo in più che sia in stance a due punti).

Quando si gioca una 3-4 ci si espone alle corse centrali. Mettiamoci anche nella condizione ideale di avere un fenomeno come NT che blocca due OL. Un terzo OL (di solito una delle due guardie) riesce a salire al livello dei LB. Se poi ci fosse anche un FB a colpire l'altro ILB, il RB potrebbe andare in 1vs1 con le safety. Se poi il NT non riesce a tenere impegnato due uomini, la situazione è ancora più complessa perchè i due ILB si trovano obbligati a gestire due OL che vanno a bloccare. Inoltre, i due OLB possono sì aiutare, ma hanno un angolo di pursuit pessimo e si troverebbero spesso a recuperare sul RB anzichè affrontarlo frontalmente.
Affrontare una 4-3 rende più difficile correre centralmente in quanto nella migliore delle ipotesi per l'attacco un solo OL riesce a salire al secondo livello, e i due LB sono più vicini all'azione di quanto non siano gli OLB nella 3-4. Persino i Colts, con dei DT pessimi, riesce a "contenere" le corse centrali...  :sbadat:

A livello di gestione del passing game avversario, la 3-4 permette di cambiare continuamente l'aspetto della difesa davanti al QB e permette soluzioni più esotiche a livello di blitz. Poi la pressione sul QB può essere portata da 6 giocatori con continuità (solo il NT è quasi sempre invischiato in una battaglia di trincea). Inoltre, in caso di formazioni spread, uno dei due OLB si può adattare molto bene a coprire uno slot.

In una 4-3, l'aspetto difensivo è pressochè identico. I due OLB non sono portati ad uscire dai tackle in quanto la competenza principale è chiudere nel mezzo. La pressione sul QB può arrivare solo da 5 uomini perchè i due DT sono invischiati in lotta di trincea. E per portare pressione costante ci vogliono due DE con i controcazzi...

Visto che gli attacchi attuali lanciano sempre di più, che il FB è scomparso e che le dive centrali stanno sparendo dai playbook, chi ha la possibilità passa alla 3-4. E le squadre che devono ricostruire provano a partire con questa "nuova" filosofia di gioco. In attesa che qualcuno cambi ancora la storia di questo sport.

Da qualche parte ho letto che l'assenza di CAP oltre a permettere di spendere quanto si vuole permette anche di risparmiare quanto si vuole, speriamo che Wilson non colga la palla al balzo
C'è anche da dire che gli ultimi anni senza CAP hanno coinciso con i nostri quattro Super Bolw :mirror:

Intanto abbiamo firmato il primo FA il RT Cornell Green mi limito a constatare che viene da una delle OL più disastrate dell'intera lega.

Bills Sign Green: The Bills have filled one of their holes at offensive tackle by signing their first free agent. They announced this evening that they have signed Cornell Green to a multi year deal. Reports say it is a three year deal worth reportedly $9 Million. Green visited with the Bills today and has 11 years experience playing tackle in the NFL with extensive starts on the right side in Oakland but he also has experience at left tackle.
