avete il seconda base, ed è uno forte: Josh Barfield da San Diego.
Però avete mollato Kouzmanoff ed Andrew Brown.

Brown fa niente, conta poco. Kouzmanoff però è forte. Però riempie un loro buco (terza base), riempie un vostro (seconda base) e se ne va da posizioni già coperte (1B, 3B, DH).

Direi scambio estremamente equo. Due giovani prospetti forti che coprono buchi importanti per entrambe le squadre...

daccordissimo! anche se nel breve periodo forse è uno scmabio più a nostro favore (anche perchè tutto sommato Kouzmanoff per noi era spendibile)

Barfield ha fatto vedere diverse buone cose a San Diego. E' una buona scelta, secondo me ci guadagnate voi. Come dice Renè cmq sono due buchi che si riempiono per entrambe le squadre. Contenti tutti insomma.

Dal Giappone con furore. Potremmo chiamarla così, nel senso che quest'anno ci prendiamo un giapponese a tutti i costi.
Di Matsuzaka ormai se n'è già parlato tanto, anche gli Indians prensenteranno la loro offerta e poi staremo a vedere.
Su Iwamura la questione è diversa, perchè gli Indians, rispetto alle altre squadre, non sono interessati a lui come seconda base (dove avremmo veramente bisogno), ma pensano al giapponese come 3B in aiuto a Marte e come esterno sinistro/destro.
Un altro giocatore sul taccuino, è Hiroki Kuroda pitcher free-agent di Hiroshima che ha chiuso il 2006 con un notevole 13-6.
Poi ci sarebbe anche il 38enne Masumi Kuwata, che ha speso buona parte della stagione nelle minors con i Tokyo Giants. Kuwata ha un record in carriera di 173-141 con 14 salvezze.

Japanese third baseman Akinori Iwamura was posted by the Yakult Swallows on Monday. The Indians are considering making a bid on him by Friday's deadline.

The deadline for making bids on Seibu's Daisuke Matsuzaka was Wednesday. Although the commissioner's office prohibited teams from saying if they did so, it's believed the Indians did bid on the MVP of the World Baseball Classic.

Right-hander Hiroki Kuroda, a free agent who drew interest from the Indians and several other big-league clubs, signed a four-year, $10 million deal with Hiroshima to stay in Japan. It's believed they have made an offer to free agent right-hander Masumi Kuwata of the Tokyo Giants.

Se arriva Iwamura sarà 3B ed esterno, non giocherà in seconda anche perchè oltre a Counsell siamo vicini a Giles.

Per Matsuzaka c'è da aspettare... :figo:

Ah proposito, i Padres hanno soffiato K2 agli Yankees che lo volevano per Sheffield... :hehe:

Avete ragione entrambi ovviamente, ma ho interpretato male io una notizia che avevo letto circa l'ipotetico impiego di Counsell come supersub dei tre ruoli interni e quello di Giles, per il quale avevo erroneamente interpretato un ruolo di backup per Barfield. Ovvio, che Barfield sarà titolare.

The Cleveland Indians are close to hiring former Rangers manager Buck Showalter as a senior adviser to team general manager Mark Shapiro and manager Eric Wedge, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Friday.

"We're negotiating with Buck and he's negotiating with us," Shapiro told the Plain Dealer.

Previously, Shapiro has brought in former big-league managers Terry Francona and Mike Hargrove as advisers. This time, the stakes may be higher: Shapiro and Wedge are both entering the final year of their contracts, and the Indians are coming off a disappointing season.

Il contratto di Wedge scade nel 2007 con opzione 08/09 a favore del club... su Showalter, Shapiro ha speso buone parole. Staremo a vedere.

EDIT: per il ruolo di closer, sembra delinearsi una volata a due con Borowski e Stanton davanti a Gagne ed Hermanson.
