come già si sapeva...

The Green Bay Packers have signed T Mark Tauscher and placed CB Will Blackmon on injured reserve. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the transactions Monday.

Tauscher played his first nine NFL seasons (2000-08) with the Packers. He saw action in 122 games, including 120 starts.

Blackmon, a fourth-year pro, had seen action in three games in 2009.

-- Two key starters, LT Chad Clifton and S Atari Bigby, both are taking part in the full workout. It's the first time Clifton has practiced since spraining his right ankle against Cincinnati Sept. 20 and the first time Bigby has practiced since injuring his right knee against Chicago Sept. 13. Their participation indicates that they will be in the starting lineup this week barring any setbacks.

-- RT Mark Tauscher continues to work only in individual drills. He probably won't be exposed to team drills until next week and isn't expected to be active this week.

-- DE Cullen Jenkins and NT Ryan Pickett both took part only in rehab and were not in team drills. It's unclear what their injuries are. Coach Mike McCarthy will address it after practice.

-- LB Brady Poppinga, RB DeShawn Wynn and FB Korey Hall were all absent. It's presumed they are out with the flu, which McCarthy said earlier in the week had hit the team.

"FB Korey Hall will be out "a couple weeks" with a calf injury. Rookie FB Quinn Johnson will be active for the first time on Sunday."

As part of its contract with the NFL NBC does not air a Sunday night game for one week in late October, so as not to conflict with Fox's coverage of the World Series. In 2006 NBC did not air a game on October 22, which was the set date for World Series Game 2. With the change in World Series scheduling beginning in 2007, NBC now does not air a game in order to avoid a conflict with World Series Game 4 (which is the earliest a team can win a series). In those instances, Football Night in America airs as scheduled at 7 PM. In 2007, there was no game on October 28; in 2008, there was no game on October 26; in 2009, NBC is scheduled to have their off week during Week 8 (which falls on November 1)
