According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, the Jags have reached an agreement with Porter on a six-year deal worth $30 million, with $10 million in guaranteed money. Porter was a chronic malcontent in Oakland, but he definitely has talent. A good Jacksonville offense will be better with him on the team.

Saints finalized a deal to acquire Jonathan Vilma Friday, sending a conditional 2009 pick to New York for him. The Saints checked Vilma out medically Monday, so they must be confident in his ability to recover from knee surgery. If healthy, Vilma is one of the premier middle linebackers in football. We don't know the terms of the pick, but it will be partly based on Vilma's play. Our guess? It's a third or second-round pick that can upgrade.
Grande acquisto dei Saints!

Crumpler a Seattle
The Seahawks are close to signing free agent TE Alge Crumpler, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. He'd reunite with likely 2009 Seahawks head coach Jim Mora. The Titans seemingly weren't impressed with Crumpler after his Thursday visit. There's still reason to believe he can put up borderline TE1 numbers for Mike Holmgren.
