Ci portiamo sul 3-1 battendo Chicago 121-98. Per la serie "Numeri che mi dà fastidio leggere...": giornata in ufficio per LeBron che chiude con 37 punti, 11 assist, 12 rimbalzi, 11/17 al tiro e un buzzer da centrocampo in 36 minuti. Discreto anche Antawn e il 3/4 di Shaq. Per il resto ovviamente siamo al 'tutti bravi'. Dispiace solo per la completa esclusione di Z dalla rotazione, garbage-time a parte, ma credo sia giusto così. Anzi, benino JJ che conferma di meritare qualche minuto in più. Powe addirittura fuori dai 12... Comunque Cavaliers veramente guardabili oggi, ottima risposta alla sconfitta nella partita precedente, anche se non credo che gara-3 da sola possa bastare a far cambiare tendenza, soprattutto in caso di partite punto a punto, dove saremo sempre al palla a James e via andare...

Nel secondo tempo(fino a quando c'è stata partita). Nel primo siamo stati ancora troppo molli in difesa, ma va bene cosi...

Premetto che il 23 mi sta un po' sulle balle (senza discuterne il talento), ma vogliamo parlare del JUMPSHOT da metà campo?  Ma invece di darlo a lui tutto sto DNA, non si poteva darlo un po' in giro?!

LeBron puzzled by elbow injury

CLEVELAND (AP)—LeBron James’ ambidexterity makes him special, perhaps the most skilled basketball player on the planet.

James can drive, dribble and create with either hand. It’s not widely known that James writes with his left. He never shoots free throws that way.

He did Tuesday.

Bothered by a puzzling injury that numbs his elbow, James curiously launched and missed a free throw left-handed in the closing seconds of Cleveland’s 96-94 playoff win over Chicago, adding some unexpected late-night drama to the Cavaliers advancing to a second-round matchup against Boston.


James revealed afterward that the elbow has been troubling him for weeks. He underwent treatment Wednesday and is expected to have further testing done before Saturday’s Game 1.

X-rays and an MRI taken on Monday showed no obvious structural damage, but clearly something is wrong with James’ elbow, which he has covered recently with a padded, protective sleeve.

“I don’t know, honestly, what’s going on with it,” James said after finishing one assist shy of a triple-double in Game 5. “I’ve done tests to try and figure this thing out, but it almost feels like you hit your funny bone and it kind of numbs up for a little bit.

“It bothers me more because I don’t actually know what it is. We’ll figure it out. I’ve never had a problem with my elbow before.”

A Cavs spokesman said the team will provide a medical update after James is evaluated. The team did not practice on Wednesday, giving the puzzling injury another day’s rest.

James said he isn’t concerned about the elbow and doesn’t think it’s serious.

If so, then why did he refuse to discuss his elbow when asked about it before the game?

If it’s no big deal, then why did he and the Cavaliers essentially hide the injury for weeks?

And, if it’s not serious, then why does it seem to be getting worse?

The Cavs are counting on James to be himself in what promises to be a physical series with Boston. The Celtics, written off as too old and on the decline entering the postseason, look ready to challenge the league’s best team after easily dispatching the Miami Heat in five games.

After being outplayed in long stretches by the scrappy Bulls, the Cavaliers have enough to worry about as they prepare for their second series in three years against the Celtics. Throw in James’ injury, which flared up in Games 4 and 5 against the Bulls, and there could be cause for some legitimate concern.

Maybe as troubling as James’ elbow was his decision to shoot his second free throw—arguably his biggest of the season—lefty with 7.8 seconds to go.

When he stepped to the line, the Cavs were leading 95-92. James then calmly drained his first free-throw attempt, but seconds after the ball went through the net, he began shaking his right arm, hoping to get some feeling back before his second shot.

James briefly looked at Cleveland coach Mike Brown and asked if the Cavs had another timeout. They had one left. But with the Quicken Loans Crowd raging, coach and player failed to communicate.

“I couldn’t hear him,” Brown said following the game. “Apparently, he wanted to take a timeout to get his elbow stretched or looked at or something like that. I did not pick up on it at that time and so he shot the free throw left-handed.”

Poorly. The shot clanged off the right side of the rim, missing so badly some thought he may have been trying to miss intentionally. But James later said he chose to shoot left-handed because his right arm was numb and he felt the Cavs were in control with a four-point lead.

“If I had to make it, I’d have tried it with my right hand,” he explained.

It’s hard to imagine a player like James, who prides himself on his knowledge of the game, believing a four-point lead was safe. There was still plenty of time for the Bulls to push the ball up the floor, score, foul and extend the game by putting the Cavs at the line.

It didn’t work out that way. It could have.

James has a flair for the dramatic. Whether accentuating a dunk with a dance move or overplaying a minor injury, he’s always putting on a show. He is, after all, an entertainer.

“I do my job,” he said when asked about always drawing the spotlight. “I show up to work and I try to do my job at a high level individually and be the leader I am on and off court. As far as the dramatics, I guess it comes with how I do my job at a high level. Am I apologizing for that? No.”

Come si presenterà Shaq a questa post season?

Bene, è in forma. Ha aperto e chiuso la serie molto bene, in mezzo c'è stato il prevedibile rodaggio fisico(la mano infortunata) e tattico.



Era Jamison il giocatore giusto per questi cavs?

Si la sua capacità di allargare il campo e le altre sue altre molteplici armi offensive vanno ad incastrarsi alla perfezione con quanto c'era gia. Tutto questo era intuibile ma solo ora può essere confermato in quanto finalmente abbiamo potuto schierare la squadra/rotazione tipo.

oh,comunque non per dire,ma dopo Gara2 avevo sollevato dubbi circa il reintegro e le prestazioni di Big Z...bè,le ultime 2 se l'è fatte in panca con un DNP.
Contro i Bulls serviva decisamente di un più un Hickson,data la sua mobilità ed esplosività. Poi siamo ricorsi spesso allo "smallball" con Jamison-James-Moon-West-Williams...soluzione utile per creare situazioni di instant offense e un attacco sicuramente più dinamico,ma dubito che contro i Celtics e (soprattutto) i Magic lo vedremo spesso. Magari contro Boston con Perkins in panca e Davis (più piccolo) in campo potrebbe essere una buona alternativa.

CLEVELAND (AP) -- LeBron James has joined one of the NBA's most exclusive clubs.

Cleveland's superstar was voted the league's MVP for the second straight year, a person familiar with the announcement told The Associated Press on Friday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the league has not announced the results of the vote.

James, who averaged 29.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.6 assists this season, will receive the trophy Sunday at the University of Akron. The presentation by commissioner David Stern will come in front of Cleveland's fans. The Cavaliers play the Boston Celtics on Monday in Game 2 of their second-round playoff series.

James is the 10th NBA player to be the MVP in consecutive seasons. The 25-year-old star joins Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Moses Malone, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan and Steve Nash. Russell, Chamberlain and Bird won it three times in a row.

James' win was expected after he had the finest season of his seven-year pro career. What remains to be seen is his margin of victory. Last season, James received 109 of 121 first-place votes, winning in a landslide in voting by a nationwide media panel of sports writers and broadcasters over Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant, who won the award in 2008.

The Plain Dealer of Cleveland first announced that James won the award.

For the second straight year, James will accept the award in his hometown. A year ago, he went back to Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, his alma mater, for a ceremony in the school's gymnasium that was attended by family, friends, former teachers and the student body.

As a high school star, James played many of his games at Rhodes Arena on Akron's campus. James also holds his summer basketball camps at the university and the Zips are coached by Keith Dambrot, who coached the All-Star for a time in high school.

James, paired this season with center Shaquille O'Neal to help Cleveland win its first NBA title, led the Cavaliers to 61 wins in the regular season and the top seed in the playoffs. Cleveland's lineup was constantly changing because of injuries, but the Cavs could always count on James, the first forward in league history to average more than eight assists a game.

James delivered nightly jaw-dropping highlights, many of them coming at the defensive end on chase-down blocks. His value was never more obvious than when he sat out the Cavaliers' final four games, and they lost each one.

Despite playing with a strained and bruised right elbow, James averaged 31.8 points, 9.2 rebounds, 8.2 assists, 2.4 blocks and 1.2 steals as the Cavaliers eliminated Chicago in the first round of the playoffs.

"I give a lot of credit to my teammates, the coaching staff and my family," James said last week when asked about winning a second MVP. "It solidifies a lot of hard work and dedication I was able to put in the offseason to try to get better as an individual and bring it to this team."

Last season, when James won for the first time, he accepted at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in his hometown of Akron.

James played numerous high school games at Akron's Rhodes Arena, is a supporter of the Zips basketball program and head coach Keith Dambrot, and holds his annual Nike camp for the top high school prospects at the university's facilities.

NBA Commissioner David Stern is expected to formally give James the trophy before Monday's Game 2 against the Boston Celtics at The Q.

At age 25, James becomes the second-youngest to win back-to-back MVPs. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was a couple of months younger when he won his back-to-back award in 1972. The others two win back-to-back are Steve Nash, Tim Duncan, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Moses Malone, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell and Abdul-Jabbar. Only Bird, Chamberlain and Russell ever won the award three years in a row.

Siamo scesi in campo con approccio ed  intesità totalmente inadeguate a questo tipo di partita. Fino a metà gara siamo stati in completa balia dei verdi con Rondo e KG sugli scudi.
Nel secondo tempo però qualcosa è girato. MO si è preso la squadra sulle spalle(14punti nel terzo quarto) e ci ha riportato in partita ma soprattutto abbiamo iniziato a difendere con una determinzione ed una continuità che non si erano mai viste in questi PO. Nel finale siamo ricorsi ancora a qualche isolamento di troppo ma avevamo più energie di Boston (anche grazie alla nostra profondità superiore) e l' abbiamo portata a casa.

Dobbiamo continuare su questa strada, possiamo ancora salire di livello.
