Tu che ne pensi?I would like to see Medlen used as a “two inning, late game” guy. As in, Saito and Wagner pitch an inning each tonight. Next night, Hanson goes 7 solid around 110 pitches, Braves up 2. Medlen goes in and gets a 2 inning save. Say, 55 warm ups, 45 appearances, 90 innings. That would help Moylan, O’Flaherty, Saito, and Wagner avoid warm ups and appearances (and also limit Saito’s and Wagner’s “games finished” bonuses and also prove Medlen for future closing or starting).
That leaves Medlen ready to pitch 3 or 4 innings as a spot starter 2 or 3 days after an appearance (and he could probably “stretch out” over about 3 more appearances if “missing starter” can’t get back).
