Credo che Vick se salta un anno ha finito di giocare a "grandi" livelli nella NFL.

Dipende. Se non lo mettono in galera, e se alla fine risulta innocente, oppure meglio ancora riesce a fare il "pentito", le sue chances le ha. Agli americani piacciono un casino i pentimenti, Bush ci ha vinto le elezioni, ammettendo pubblicamente di essere stato un alcoolista.

Se salta un anno Petrino al Draft dell'anno prossimo sceglierà il suo ragazzo del college,Brian Brohm.
Lo ha allenato a Lousiville e credo che sia stato proprio Petrino a dirgli di fare la stagione di senior perchè al primo anno non poteva sceglierlo.
Ad Atlanta per me se salta un anno è finito.

Long before a grand jury indicted Michael Vick Tuesday in a federal dogfighting case, Vick's performance on the football field often competed for attention with his conduct outside the arena. Vick settled a lawsuit last year by a former girlfriend who said he knowingly gave her a sexually transmitted disease. But the case was closed in such secrecy that the woman's lawyer can't even say why he can't comment on it. Vick surrounded himself with unsavory associates, two with criminal records for drug trafficking. After two friends with Vick pocketed someone else's fancy watch at the Atlanta airport, the owner said a Falcons executive offered him money to keep Vick's name out of a police report. It's clear the Falcons missed several opportunities to curtail Vick's erratic behavior, from his brushes with the law to his obscene gesture directed toward booing fans last season.

Speaking on ESPN, the Atlanta Journal-Constituion's Steve Wyche said that the Falcons could possibly release Michael Vick this week.

There would be some nasty cap consequences, but its at least an option. Vick could also be suspended by the team or receive a leave of absence. With training camp looming, look for a decision to come down by Tuesday or Wednesday. Vick isn't likely to attend camp.

con i soldi che prende....i Falcons non possono pagare una cifra simile per tenere in giocatore a roster ma inattivo, se il problema fosse solo per un anno forse lo terrebbero, ma se la cosa si trascina.....avevano anche pensato di tradarlo, ma nessuno sembra intenzionato, magari per qulche pick al prossimo draft, solo che farlo adesso non ha senso....

dario, non funzione così... Anzi, è l'opposto... Tagliandolo i Falcons riceveranno un cap hit molto più alto dello stipendio che dovrebbero pagare al giocatore. Se lo tagliassero non sarebbe per motivi economici quindi...
Intanto Vick ha assunto come suo avvocato Billy Martin che, fra le altre cose, fu l'avvocato di Monica Lewinsky.

Commissioner Roger Goodell has ordered Michael Vick of the Atlanta Falcons not to report to the team’s training camp pending the completion of an NFL review of his recent indictment by a federal grand jury in Richmond, Virginia, for allegedly participating in an interstate dog-fighting enterprise.

Commissioner Goodell informed Vick that the review would be completed as soon as possible and that Vick’s full cooperation is expected.

In a letter to Vick today, Commissioner Goodell said: “While it is for the criminal justice system to determine your guilt or innocence, it is my responsibility as commissioner of the National Football League to determine whether your conduct, even if not criminal, nonetheless violated league policies, including the Personal Conduct Policy.”

Vick will not forfeit his preseason pay during his excused absence from training camp.

Commissioner Goodell also directed the Falcons today to withhold any contemplated team discipline regarding the Vick matter until the NFL review is completed.

ma cosa vuol dire che Goodell dica a Vick, anzi, ORDINI a Vick, di non presentarsi al Camp?!? O ha violato la Policy, allora lo penalizzi, oppure non l'ha fatto, allora casomai sono i Falcons a potergli suggerire di non presentarsi al camp, visto che - tra l'altro - sono loro a pagarlo.

Messa cosi', la cosa diventa un brutto precedente IMHO. Goodel come McMahon?

Questo è poco ma sicuro.
Vick intanto è già colpevole di aver mentito al commish,come ha fatto vedere China,dicendogli a New York durante il Draft che lui con quella storia non c'entrava niente.

Ripeto: o ritiene che abbia violato la policy - allora impedire di partecipare al camp e' poco - oppure non e' cosi', allora la cosa giusta sarebbe fare moral suasion sui Falcons, in modo che siano loro a non far partecipare Vik al Camp. Cosi', i Falcons si trovano a dover pagare un giocatore che pero' per decisione di Goodell non puo' allenarsi insieme agli altri. Che cacchio di situazione e'? E soprattutto, a questo punto dove arrivano i poteri del Commissioner? In base a cosa potra' in futuro decidere che un giocatore partecipi o non partecipi a "manifestazioni NFL"?

Ripeto, non sono "a favore" (ne' "contro") Vick, ma questo uso del potere di Commissioner mi pare pericoloso, e poco edificante. La frase

e' corretta: determinalo, poi applichi le eventuali sanzioni. Non viceversa.
