Sinceramente mi sembra strano perché ricordo molte dichiarazioni al tempo di Nolan su Willis, mentre qualche mese fa avevo letto che Singletary quando vide Willis non era convinto che fosse forte, poi aveva saputo la sua storia personale e quindi si era convinto che sarebbe stato un ottimo giocatore proprio per questo.
Comunque, secondo me, non bisogna giudicare solo i titolari per dire se al draft si sceglie bene, anche i panchinari, specie in difesa, hanno la loro importanza (anche in relazione a dove vengano scelti).

--Bad news for the 49ers: As expected, the Rams slapped the franchise tag on safety O.J. Atogwe, taking away an option for the 49ers to pursue in free agency.
--Good news for the 49ers: The Buccaneers decided to franchise receiver Antonio Bryant. Although the 49ers will look at wide receivers in free agency, there was absolutely no chance they would have pursued Bryant. That means the Bucs are not placing the franchise tag on safety Jermaine Phillips, and he could be somebody at a position of need that the 49ers will make an attempt to sign.

Jermaine Phillips legevo pero' che gioca SS mentre a noi servirebbe una FS. Potrebbe ricoprire al melgio anche l'altro ruolo?

Premesso che sono "esperto" di college così come sono "esperto" di cinese antico, costruzione di igloo, e manicure di tigri albine...

Sanchez è sicuramente ben allenato
braccio non è male (potenza)
ha le misure fisiche per l'nfl

gioca in un sistema abbastanza farcito di buoni giocatori
ma non mi sembra precisissimo sotto pressione nel medio corto (non che sia un disastro, intendiamoci)
Ha dimostrato di essere abbastanza injury prone (cosa che la nostra linea probabilmente evidenzierebbe)
ha giocato solo un anno da titolare
esce dallo stesso sistema che ha partorito i numeri di Leinart
Poi gli altri 9999999999999 che ne sanno di più sicuramente sanno fare un'analisi molto migliore.
Però credo che il punto non sia solo se è un QB NLF ready, ma se cambierebbe le sorti della squadra. Ecco, questo no, non credo sia quel tipo di QB (come non credo nessuno in questo draft), quindi il punto diventa:
alla 10 prendi un QB che, oltre a essere rookie ti dà come Hill se non meno, oppure prendi chi ti serve realmente, a costo di lasciare scappare il 2-3° QB del draft?

Io non ho mai visto Sanchez e ne capisco molto meno dello zio qui sopra, ma un QB alla 10 non lo voglio!

Principalmente per me:
1) Mi piace Hill e voglio lui titolare.
2) Sanchez ha fatto solo una stagione intera di cui alcune partite abbastanza anonime ed altre veramente ottime, un pò discontinuo ma è normale per uno al primo anno da starter.
3) Pure Carroll che lo conosce benissimo gli ha vivamente consigliato di restare un altro anno per migliorarsi, dopo che si è reso eleggibile il coach di Southern Cal ha detto che ha fatto una cazzata in parole povere.
4) C'è il rischio che sia abbastanza injury prone dato il fatto che ha saltato qualche partita ad inizio stagione perchè si era tipo slogato il ginocchio ed ha giocato tutto l'anno con un bel tutore e in qualche partita ho visto chiaramente che sentiva ancora dolore. Mi pare che nella stagione precedente ebbe problemi alla spalla invece.
5) Ha una grandissima squadra attorno che l'ha aiutato a far crescere l'
hype verso di lui, ha avuto grande talento offensivo a disposizione (non è una ragione volevo solo menzionarlo questo punto)
6) Molti dicono che ha un release abbastanza lento (qualcuno invece no), insomma in pratica è prematuro perchè ha giocato solo 20 partite al college.
7) Il suo carattere desta qualche dubbio dato che è stato denunciato per sexual assault nel 2006. Magari è una cazzata magari no.
8) Non è il tipo di giocatore che prendi e lo butti subito dentro alla Ryan, durante l'anno ho letto che sarebbe un QB che bisogna fare crescere alla Rodgers passando quindi un bel pò di tempo in panca.
9) Riassumendo manca di esperienza.
Poi ci sarebbe qualche punto a favore come il braccio e la sua diciplina a studiare le squadre durante la settimana ma io non lo voglio quindi non lo scrivo.

Ho lo stesso dubbio. In quella posizione ci serve assolutamente uno che crei big plays.
Lo può fare al meglio Phillips? Lo scopriremo solo se lo firmeremo. :D

So che tutti siete di idea opposta ma prendere alla 10 un bel LT e rimandare Staley a destra personalmente mi riempe di gioia.
Ma una cosa che probabilmente mi è sfuggita, si continua con la difesa ibrida = ne carne ne pesce?

Staley come LT ha fatto bene quest'anno. Sinceramente preferirei prendere qualcuno già esperto come RT e andare avanti così senza stravolgere di nuovo tutto.
Intanto ha parlato anche Singletary (e sono sempre di più le possibilità che Smith ristrutturi il contratto e rimanga a giocarsi il posto con Hill):
it sounds as if he fully expects Alex Smith to return. He said the 49ers are in "no hurry" to sign a veteran quarterback to join in the Shaun Hill vs. Smith competition. Also, when he spoke about selecting a quarterback in the draft, he spoke in terms of getting a youngster later in the draft who can be developed.
Also, it seems to be a major priority to find a running back to share the load with Frank Gore. DeShaun Foster was the No. 2 back last season, but he rarely played when Gore was healthy.

Singletary: That is important to a lot of people. To me, the most important thing we have at that quarterback position is competition. I think going into training camp, of course, I could say, 'Shaun Hill is our starting quarterback going into training camp.' But what does that really say? It says he's going to compete for the job. To me, at the end of the day, I think the most important thing rather than say Shaun Hill is the starter, is making sure whoever we have at the quarterback position, we have the best guy on the field and gives us the best chance to win. That's the most important thing that's going to come out of our quarterback situation.
Q: Is the two-man competition (Hill and Alex Smith) what you're looking at or are you going to bring in others to add to the competition?
Singletary: I think there are some things we have to pay attention to. We're going to work that out. Hopefully, Alex is back and that adds competition. Maybe we get somebody in the draft on down somewhere if there's a guy there we think we can bring in and develop. We have a chance to develop a guy for down the road, then it creates a good situation for us and that's something that's something that's important to us and important for our future going forward. So we're excited about that, but we're taking it one day at a time.

We feel Shaun Hill is pretty stable and we're excited about what Shaun did this past season and what he can bring going forward. I think we're going to look at all the options as we go forward and make the best decision.

Singletary: I'd say, thank God we're at this time of the year. We're probably going to add some depth to that position. There are some good backs in the draft and very excited about the possibility of getting another guy to help share the load.
Su Staley:
Q: Would you consider moving Joe Staley back to right tackle if you pick up a player better suited to play left tackle?
Staley: I think it's going to come down to whether we get something in free agency or get something in the draft that will cause us to sit down and figure out how we can find the right spots for our guys. With Joe, I don't know if that's going to be right tackle or left tackle. We'll figure all that out.
