Ciao ragazzi,
Come ogni anno, questo è per me un momento noioso di football, tra draft e free agent non ne capisco molto e sono anche poco ineressato perchè tutte le situazioni delle varie franchige sono ancora da definire. Volevo chiedervi 1 info di mercato... Sono rimasto a febbraio col vociferare sul "dubbio" Asante Samuel... l'ho trovato ancora in roster ma senza contratto... sapete dirmi quali sono le evoluzioni sulla situazione del fenomeno difensivo della passata season ? Ci sono ancora speranze che resti a Boston? Chi lo sta seguendo? I pats stanno valutando altri cb?

E del tutto probabile che Asante rimanga, ma proprio in virtù di ciò potrebbe andare in holdout in maniera prolungata. Non si è presentato a nessuna delle attività organizzate dal team per la offseason e non può essere multato perchè è senza contratto, deve ancora firmare l'offerta annuale di tag e secondo me non lo farà nemmeno a breve. Nel frattempo è stato preso Tory James, ex Bengals e Raiders.

...anche se trovo la situazione quantomeno curiosa, non credi?... per quel che ho visto io Asante è stato l'arma vincente per i pats un po fuorigiri del passato campionato! Ha deciso con i jets e ha "rischiato" di far tonfare i campioni del mondo nella finale di conference. Sinceramente ero straconvinto di assistere ad una vera e propria battaglia di dollari per soffiarlo a Kraft, ma... buon per i pats!

che faccia le bizze mi preoccupa zero

sono le 'solite' schermaglie che, penso, si risolveranno a meno che qualcuno poi sia così magnanimo da darci 2 first round pick...

e, per ora, non essendo sotto contratto puo' far quel che vuole

Guardando il programma su patriots.com ho sentito che per ora, nel training camp, avrà questo numero...poi si vedrà...sto aspettando con ansia l'ufficializzazione del nuovo numero per far partire l'acquisto della jersey!

The Patriots will open their 2007 training camp Friday, July 27 on the practice fields behind Gillette Stadium. Two practices are scheduled that day -- the first will be held at 8:45 a.m., with the second at 5:30 p.m.

With mini-camp now behind us, here are some final thoughts after watching the three-day practice:

-This receiving corps is going to be scary. Randy Moss, Donte’ Stallworth, Wes Welker and Reche Caldwell would be productive on any team. Throw in Tom Brady and that’s not good news for defenses around the league. In my opinion, the guys listed above are the top four receivers right now, with Jabar Gaffney and Kelley Washington battling it out for the final spot if the team carries five receivers.

-Keep an eye on the Patriots possibly bringing in Chris Brown at some point if he’s still available. When Laurence Maroney isn’t on the field, I don’t have a good feeling that anyone else can carry the load. Just from what we saw at mini-camp, it appears that Sammy Morris is going to be used in a Kevin Faulk-type role. If anything happens to Maroney, the Patriots really don’t have another guy on the roster who can carry the load on the ground. Then again, if this passing attack takes off, it may not matter.

-If Adalius Thomas stays healthy, linebacker won’t be a problem. It’s always fun to complain around draft time that the Patriots need to add a young linebacker, and maybe they do. However, with Thomas’ versatility and the other quality starters on this team, I think the linebackers will be just fine this year, barring a rash of injuries. And if Thomas stays healthy, he could push for NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors.

- Watching him right now, I don’t think Eugene Wilson can make the switch to corner like some other people are suggesting. I’m not talking about lining up at cornerback from time-to-time, I’m talking about starting at corner. As of right now, Wilson doesn’t look to me like he has the speed or instincts to be successful at corner. My guess is he starts the year at safety, just like he always does.

- In six months, anyone who says they still wouldn’t trade a second round draft pick for Wes Welker will probably just be lying through their teeth. Welker looks like he’s been playing in this offense for years. He’s just a perfect fit for this team. There’s no other way to say it.

- And for the last time, Kyle Brady is an absolute beast. In my lifetime, he’s the third biggest man I’ve ever seen in person behind The Undertaker and Patrick Ewing. I have no idea how defenses stop this guy near the goal line. I’m predicting 7-8 touchdowns for Kyle “The Beast” Brady this season.

In effetti dietro Maroney c'è Sammy Morris e poi? Faulk.
Tempo fa si vociferava di problemi alla spalla per Lawrence...gli stessi che ai playoffs l'avevano limitato visibilmente. Se non sono del tutto risolti è probabile che la free agency dei Pats - finora già scintillante - possa avere una coda.
