As expected Friday, the New York Yankees officially tendered an offer to free-agent pitcher CC Sabathia.

The offer is expected to be six years in length and have a total value of slightly more than the record $137.5 million deal that pitcher Johan Santana signed with the Mets before last season.

Yankees co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner confirmed Friday night at the team's spring training complex in Tampa, Fla., that an offer was made to Sabathia, and that proposals will be forthcoming for pitchers A.J. Burnett and Derek Lowe.

"Yes," Steinbrenner told The Associated Press when asked if an offer was made to Sabathia. "And we're prepared to make offers to Burnett and Lowe."

mi correggo, era su un'articolo del 3 nov su MLB.com e diceva: Though the Red Sox are very high on Padres right-hander Jake Peavy -- general manager Theo Epstein is familiar with him from their time together in San Diego -- the righty has a no-trade clause and continues to make it clear that he'd prefer to stay in the National League
ma, appunto, si parla di due settimane fa.

Sì, e continua a dire che in AL non ci va. A questo punto credo che la possibilità che rimanga a San Diego sia da prendere in considerazione.

Sembra che i Braves stiano spostando le loro attenzioni su Burnett: almeno risparmiamo dei prospetti e otteniamo un giocatore non più giovanissimo e tendente all'infortunio, ma che personalmente ritengo tra i primi cinque in MLB come "stuff". Se riesce a restare sano, con il passaggio in NL, potrebbe disputare veramente un'ottima stagione, speriamo!
Intanto secondo mlbtraderumors i Cubs sarebbero interessati a Big Unit.

We learned yesterday that the Diamondbacks offered Randy Johnson around $2-3MM, while he would've settled for $8MM. Now he's on the open market, and could be a bargain on a one-year deal. The Angels are not interested, but MLB.com's Ken Gurnick says Johnson is high on the Dodgers' list. This would be a fine way for Ned Colletti to kick off his offseason.
