Informazioni insider mi dicono che Mahan è stato tradato ai Bucs per draft picks to be named later. Non ho ancora trovato conferma sul web, ma la fonte dovrebbe essere attendibile. :figo:

Intanto sono anche stati annunciati i capitani della squadra, scelti ai voti da tutti i componenti della squadra.

The Steelers announced their team captains on Monday, chosen by a vote of their teammates.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wide receiver Hines Ward will represent the offense, James Farrior on defense and kicker Jeff Reed on special teams.
Ward and Farrior have been named captains before, but it's the first time their teammates have chosen Roethlisberger and Reed.

"It's awesome because it comes from them," said Roethlisberger. "I've always tried to be a leader, whether I was captain or not. I'll just continue to be who I am and try to lead this team to victories. It's another step forward."

Reed, who joined the Steelers as a rookie free agent in 2002, is happy to be representing his unit.

"It's a great honor, not only to be a captain but captain of this team," said Reed. "It's tougher for a kicker or punter to be in a situation like that. It shows a lot of respect from my teammates, so it's a great feeling."

Non so per quale motivo ma abbiamo firmato un terzo TE, che va a prendere il posto a roster lasciato da Mahan. Trattasi di tale Sean McHugh, visto l'ultima volta ai Lions.

PITTSBURGH — The Steelers added a third tight end to their active roster today as they signed veteran tight end Sean McHugh to a one-year deal.

McHugh (6-5, 265) spent the past three seasons with the Detroit Lions on both their active roster and practice squads. He was originally drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the seventh round (214st overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft out of Penn State. McHugh was cut by the Titans following their 2004 training camp and signed by the Green Bay Packers, where he spent the entire 2004 campaign.

In 25 career games (14 starts), McHugh has 20 receptions for 277 yards (13.9 avg.). He had his best season in 2007 for the Lions, playing in 15 games (12 starts) and making 17 catches for 252 yards (14.8 avg.).

Qualche info sulla situazione dei nostri RB.

Coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that rookie RB Rashard Mendenhall will return kickoffs this season.
Tomlin isn't sure how much Mendenhall will play at halfback. "We're looking at his preparation this week, his attention to detail in terms of how he executes his assignments, and his level of ball security."

Non sono molto convinto di questa scelta, proviamolo per le prime partite e vediamo come va ma fargli ritornare i kickoffs per tutta la stagione potrebbe essere rischioso.

Inizialmente il nostro "third down back" dovrebbe essere Moore, in attesa di Mendenhall. Nelle situazione di goal line invece non è ancora ben chiaro chi sarà il go-to-guy, molto probabilmente si lascerà l'incombenza a Parker o al massimo al FB Carey Davis.

The Steelers still haven't decided on a goal-line/short-yardage back.
Beat writer Ed Bouchette says that "anything can happen" going forward on the goal line, but doesn't expect Rashard Mendenhall to get the ball there soon after his preseason fumbling. Assuming Gary Russell is inactive on game days like last year, it'll either be Willie Parker or FB Carey Davis.

Su Rashard, nonostante i fumble, non credo proprio si limiterà a ritornare i calci. Spero in almeno una decina di portate.

Beh negli ultimi anni io ricordo anche 4 TE a roster a inizio stagione.
2 di cui uno con un totale di 5 ricezioni al piano di sopra effettivamente era un pò striminzita.
Non si fosse fatto male, Boyd sarebbe entrato nei 53.

Sulla trade Mahan ora sto leggendo di gente preoccupata della nostra depth...se il problema è lo spot di guardia, beh ho visto tutta la pre-season e devo dire che Stapleton s'è dimostrato un prospetto molto interessante; inoltre anche Essex è stato provato da guardia con risultati sorprendenti.
Se invece va giù Hartwig allora la cosa è un pò più complessa, più che altro per la difficoltà del ruolo in sè...e comunque non credo che un Simmons - o lo stesso Stapleton - possano fare peggio del Mahan 2007.

Leggi tutta la schedule, poi con l'occhio risali e alla prima c'è vs Texans e pensi "ok, si vince"...e invece no, bisogna stare concentrati, stringere le chiappe e giocarsi ogni snap. Se devo dirla tutta non ho sensazioni molto positive riguardo alla stagione; ed è sbagliato perchè mi sono imposto di pensare a una partita per volta.

Finisce che quando andrò in campo insieme ai ragazzi - voi magari non mi vedete, ma io sono lì che mi sbatto, urlo, sudo e puzzo - avrò tanta di quella tensione addosso che dropperò un casino di palloni, sbaglierò due/tre assegnamenti, vedrò sfuggirmi rushatori da tutte le parti, snapperò troppo alto o troppo basso, scivolerò mentre sto per calciare e insomma manderò tutto a puttane. Allora mi richiamerò sulla sideline e mi farò un cazziatone, assestandomi un paio di botte sul casco perchè la comprensione mi giunga più rapida, cristallina.

Poi tornerò in campo e sarò Ben che con un passo di danza manda l'end al bar e lancia per un primo down, sarò Santonio che con un double move semina il cornerback, sarò Taz che galleggia dietro la linea prima di schiantarsi su una massa di corpi, sarò Wood che sente l'odore del sangue prima dello snap, sarò Skippy che toglie i ciuffi d'erba dalla sua mattonella preferita lì sulle 40 yards dell'Heinz Field.

Beh ci siamo ragazzi...buona stagione a tutta la Steeler Nation

io son d'accordo sui texans che son sottovalutati da tutti, imho quest'anno avranno un record positivo non sarà facile vincere con loro
