The drama surrounding Jay Cutler continues. The Broncos quarterback was on the guest list at a roast honoring Broncos trainer Steve "Greek" Antonopulos on Saturday evening at Mile High at Invesco Field. However, Cutler decided against attending.

"With everything that's gone on in the last couple weeks, Jay didn't want to take away from the event," said Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth. "He is making a donation to the cause."

But according to a sourced report late Saturday night on KCNC-4's website, Cutler met face-to-face Saturday morning with coach Josh McDaniels. The source said the meeting did not go well and that is why Cutler did not attend the event Saturday night.

Antonopulos is in his 33rd year as Broncos head trainer.

Proceeds from the roast will benefit Dani's Foundation, which raises money for research and treatment for rare forms of cancer.

domani Jay sicuramente non si presenterà al camp. si sarebbe dovuto presentare ad un altro incontro con GM e JMac, ma quasi sicuramente non andrà neppure qua.

la situazione è molto seria. il camp che inizia domani non è obbligatorio, ma se vi partecipa al 90% prende 100k$ di bonus. i primi camp obbligatori saranno ad aprile.

ora, le spiegazioni possono essere varie:

• a Jay non va bene come ragiona JMac -> trade
• vuole un nuovo contratto

He admitted he wanted Matt Cassel because he said he has raised him up from the ground as a quarterback. He said he wasn't sorry about it.

"At the end of the meeting, he wasn't like, 'Jay, I want you as our quarterback, you're our guy.' It felt like the opposite. . . . Really, I figured we'd hash things out, shake hands, laugh a little and move forward. What happened (Saturday) was the last thing I expected."

"I would love to have a one-on-one conversation," McDaniels said. "I have been trying to get that realized here for the last two weeks. I would still be open to it."

Kowalski says it'll be Eugene Monroe or Jason Smith, likely based on which is willing to take a cheaper contract.
