D'altronde aveva fatto il bravo ragazzo per troppo tempo, un' uscita di testa come ogni buon ricevitore NFL che si rispetti possiamo anche perdonargliela.

Se fosse stato un mestierante qualsiasi, e quindi facilmente sostituibile, sarebbe già sulla porta di uscita, ma uno come lui penso che i Giants faranno di tutto per recuperarlo, come fecero i Vikings dopo l' arresto di Moss o i Cowboys dopo l' episodio non troppo chiaro di Owens un paio di anni fa.

Il problema è vedere cosa ne pensa Goodell e che punizione deciderà di applicare.

Giants suspend Burress, officially ending season

The Giants placed wide receiver Plaxico Burress on the reserve/non-football injury list on Tuesday, officially ending his season. The team also fined Burress and suspended him for four games for conduct detrimental to the team for multiple and repeated violations of club rules.

Burress met individually today with Giants president John Mara, general manager Jerry Reese and head coach Tom Coughlin, according to a release from the team.

“As we have said since Saturday morning, our concern is for Plaxico’s health and well-being,” Mara said. “This is an important time for him to take care of his body and heal up and also deal with the very serious legal consequences and other issues in his life. When I spoke with Plaxico he expressed great remorse for letting down his teammates.”

“The decision we made today regarding Plaxico’s roster status was based on the examination of Plaxico by our team physician,” Reese said. “Dr. Rodeo believes Plaxico would be out at least four to six weeks with the gunshot wound. I had two conversations with Plaxico today, and it was obvious that he understood the magnitude of this situation. He knows that we are here to support him and help him get healthy.”

Tutto molto prevedibile, vista anche la posizione in cui si trovano i Giants. Tra l'altro credo che se l'aspettassero un'ennesima bravata di questo tipo da Burress, l'estate scorsa quando gli fecero firmare il prolungamento del contratto inserirono una clausola che nel caso di un eventuale taglio avrebbero recuperato circa $23 mln dei 35 totali dell'estensione.

The Giants reportedly constructed Plaxico Burress' $35 million contract extension in such a way that a substantial amount could come off the books if the team cuts ties with him.
The Giants could clear $23 million off their payroll if they cut or trade Burress after the season.

Insomma, come dicevo oggi credo che non lo rivedremo mai più con la jersey dei Giants.

Jerry Reese, il GM dei Giants, afferma che se Plaxico risolverà i problemi con la giustizia e sarà più "responsabile" le porte per tornare in squadra l'anno prossimo saranno aperte.
