OG RYAN KEENAN

Note positive: Ottimo atleta, ha mostrato agilità e velocità laterale nello scivolamento, buoni piedi e bilanciamento, intelligente, lavoratore duro e competitivo.

NINERS TO HONOR TRYOUT PROMISE

One of the contestants in a reality show that debuted on March 27 was hoping to get a tryout with an NFL team. Even though the program, titled The Great American Dream Vote, was cancelled by ABC after two sub-2.0 ratings performances, a league source tells us that the 49ers, who were lined up to give the guy a tryout if he had won the contest, will give him a tryout anyway.

Per the source, 43-year-old Jim Davis, who has said he can bench-press more than 500 pounds and run the 40 in 4.5 seconds, will get a look-see from the Niners on April 20, in conjunction with the team's assessment of local players who are not expected to be drafted on April 28 and 29.

The premise of the show was to let ordinary people make the case for the fulfillment of their dreams, with the studio audience and viewers whittling down the contestants, in American Idol style. The show was hosted by Donny Osmond.

Hey, maybe one of the contestants had a dream that he would witness the most public of Donny Osmond's many humiliations. If so, the dream has been realized.
Commenti sparsi sui forum niners:

I dont care how hold he is, start him over Kwame.

at 212 lbs?!?!?maybe for Derek Smith?

We should do a sign and trade deal with him.
Sign him and trade Kwame

We won't sign him - the Redskins are offering more money  :lol2:

E questa è la sua scheda:

Jim Davis
College Professor, Lisbon Falls, ME
Dream: To be the oldest NFL rookie

This 43-year-old marine, pastor, and father of 3 knows the odds are stacked against him, but that isn't stopping his dream. Jim is training to play at least one down in the NFL, though he never played in high school or college. His dream is a two-day tryout or a place on the Practice Squad to either prove or disprove his ability based on skills and not age. He is a member of the Army National Guard and with half his unit serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, he says it would be an inspiration for them as well. This 212-pound player can bench press 500 pounds and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds at a CFL tryout last year. Everyone asks what keeps driving him, and he says "HEART... I will not give up until this dream comes true."

49ers | Nolan wants Gore to receive fewer touches in 2007
Wed, 4 Apr 2007 19:18:55 -0700

Matt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan is planning to keep RB Frank Gore fresh throughout the 2007 season. Nolan said he hopes Gore will touch the ball fewer than his 312 carries in 2006. "It would be nice to get somebody in there who could take some of the load. There's a lot of wear and tear on a running back who runs like he does. He doesn't shy away from too much and he's not a huge guy, although he's stocky and sturdy. He takes a lot of punishment."

Alex needs an outside threat,” said new offensive coordinator Jim Hostler when I talked to him at Santa Clara. (I also wrote on this interview for The Examiner on Tuesday.) “Vernon Davis can supply a deep threat because of his speed, but that will be in the middle of the field. Alex needs that guy on the outside. Joe Montana had Jerry Rice, Troy Aikman had Michael Irvin. You can debate whether it’s the quarterback who makes the receiver or vice-versa, but you need both."

The 49ers have signed free agent Ashley Lelie, who has the ability to be that kind of player but hasn’t shown it consistently. Hostler was an assistant at New Orleans when Lelie came out, so he has some background on the receiver.

“There were five receivers that were highly rated in that draft,” he remembered, “Ashley, Donte Stallworth, Javon Walker, Deion Branch and Bryant. In some ways, we thought Ashley was the most talented of the five, not quite as fast as Stallworth but close. (The Saints drafted Stallworth.) But none of the five has really made it big. Now, they’re on their third team, and Bryant will be on his fourth. There are reasons for that, and they’re not positive ones.

“It’s the mental approach players have that determines whether they make it in the NFL. For whatever reason, these guys haven’t been able to put it together yet.”

So, Hostler is taking a wait-and-see attitude toward Lelie. He’s talked to him and seen Lelie working out at the Santa Clara complex but says, “If he makes it for us, it’s a bonus.”

Hostler is hoping the Niners will also be able to add a wide receiver or two in the draft. In theory, that should be easy to do because there are usually more wide receivers who have the potential to play in the NFL than players at any other position. The trick is finding the right ones.
