Sì potrebbe essere solo un "pensiero" da parte della dirigenza. Un pensiero trasformato dalla stampa in "vogliamo sia così" e letto da noi come un "Cherington fa quel che gli diciamo di fare".

Mi auguro sia la lettura giusta.

La cosa che mi spaventa un po' è che invece non ritengano Ben troppo adatto o pronto al ruolo di GM e gli tarpino le ali imponendo scelte dall'alto (atteggiamento, ricordava Gio, nuovo per Henry e co. basti pensare alla questione Crawford).

Pap, a me pareva ovvia la ragione della fuga di Theo, ora ci sono anche le prove.

Pare che si liberino di Shipley. Questa sarebbe una buona notizia piuttosto incondizionatamente. Se il suo posto venisse preso da Minaya, sarebbe davvero una buona notizia. Minaya è un ottimo scout ed ha sempre fatto benissimo in America Latina. Un disastro come GM (come Chuck LaMar), ma nel giusto ruolo farebbe bene. Shipley con poche eccezioni ha fatto davvero male. In più è antipatico.

Me lo dicevi che è antipatico ed arrogante, ma se fosse stato almeno bravo.
Comunque ti credo, tu lo conosci, e se mandarlo via va bene, bene così.
Il problema è che stanno andando a zig zag. Mezza mossa buona ed una pessima, non si capisce più nulla. Io credo che Theo desse molta stabilità e tenesse gli "angeli custodi" al loro posto.

According to a source, Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington spoke with Bobby Valentine a few weeks ago but no formal interview has been been scheduled as of yet. Multiple reports stated that Sox ownership had met with the 61-year-old Valentine and that others in the ownership group will meet with the former Rangers and Mets manager.

The Boston Herald reported that Torey Lovullo will receive a second interview, although a source told WEEI.com that no second interviews have been formally arranged and Lovullo, Gene Lamont and Sandy Alomar Jr. all remain candidates.

Valentine had a 1,117-1,072 record (.510 winning percentage) in 15 years as a manager, and reached the World Series with the Mets in 2000. He also enjoyed a successful career managing in Japan, where he not only led the Chiba Lotte Marines to a championship but became an iconic figure in the NPB.

When appearing on the Mut & Merloni Show on Oct. 6, Valentine hinted that the Red Sox job would be intriguing. "How could it not be a good situation?" he mused. "You would think so."

Si allarga il divario tra "i poteri forti" e la "Nazione" (IMHO).

Nel "vuoto" di questi giorni questo mi era sfuggito:

Veramente sembrava un affare fatto già allora, con alcuni giornalisti che lo davano come ufficiale, assieme a Lowell in Texas. Poi alcune di quelle trattative sono saltate ed è arrivato invece Beltre, tutto nel giro di pochissimo tempo (infatti c'è l'edit). Più che una previsione era una presa d'atto delle notizie che circolavano.
L'affare di Lowell addirittura era già stato concordato fra le due squadre, se non ricordo male, ed è saltato per le visite mediche.

In 15 seasons leading clubs in the majors—including 8 years with the Texas Rangers and 7 seasons with the New York Mets—Valentine has amassed a win-loss record of 1117-1072. While he's had 10 winning seasons compared to just 5 losing ones, some of those were years in which his club was just barely over .500. Furthermore, while he led the Mets to a NL Pennant and the World Series in 2000 (where they were dismantled by the New York Yankees 4-1), he has never led any of his clubs to a division title.

Io spero sinceramente sia solo una roba per far scrivere qualcosa alla stampa. Se così non fosse vorrei però capire cosa pensano di ottenere dando il ruolo a lui. Non è una promessa, non è uno "bravo", è solo uno conosciuto e/ma non so quanto amato (e di certo mi sembra uno che di stats non ne guarda proprio). Vabeh.
