The Red Sox sent four players to minor league camp on Monday. The team optioned catcher Dusty Brown and infielder Kevin Frandsen to Triple-A Pawtucket, while reassigning non-roster invitees Gustavo Molina and Jorge Jimenez to minor league camp. The moves leave the Sox with 35 players remaining in big league camp.

sembra che Beckett sia vicino ad un rinnovo 68-70 mln$ per 4 anni
se si proteggono bene da eventuali infortuni mi pare un discreto colpo

Righty reliever Scott Atchison, a 34-year-old who spent the past two seasons in Japan, was informed Thursday morning that he had earned a spot in the Red Sox bullpen. The final spot in the 'pen is between Scott Schoeneweis, who is scheduled to pitch Thursday against the Twins in Fort Myers, and Joe Nelson, who will travel with the team to Washington for Saturday's exhibition game against the Nationals.
TJ per Tazawa.
Red Sox pitcher Junichi Tazawa will have Tommy John surgery on his elbow, manager Terry Francona announced Thursday morning from spring training. Tazawa, who suffered a sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament, met with renowned specialist Dr. James Andrews, who will perform the surgery Tuesday at his facility in Birmingham, Ala. The 23-year-old Tazawa was called up to the Sox last August and went 2-3 with a 7.46 ERA.

Su ESPN Boston simpatico giochino. Scegliere il greatest team all time dei Red Sox... Nel mio, a malincuore, non c'è posto per Manny

Peter Abraham, Globe Staff April 2 - A few final impressions before shipping off to Boston early tomorrow morning:
* Terry Francona really likes baseball. I know what you're thinking, of course he does. But it has been my experience that some managers take the job more because they like the fame and the money or they enjoy the lifestyle. But Francona seems to really like the game. He was on the field every day, playing first base during infield drills, hitting grounders to the infielders, watching young pitchers in the bullpen, etc. He strikes me like a guy who would be happy managing a Class A team somewhere.
* A lot of my friends have asked what is the biggest difference between covering the Yankees and the Red Sox. One word: Hair. The Yankees don't allow their guys to have long hair or facial hair beyond a mustache. The Red Sox look like a bunch of bikers and surfers. Either way, it doesn't make a difference in how you play.
* Fans could get free tours of City of Palms before games and the press box was one of the stops. The tour guide would point to the empty broadcast booth and say, "That's where Jerry Remy sits" and people would snap photos like it was the Oval Office.

Beckett quadriennale, 68 milioni.
