Re: Philadelphia Phillies 2009 nlds champs
The Phillies announced Thursday they have invited 13 more non-roster invitees to Spring Training to bring their total to 20.
Here is a look at those players(sarò curioso, per motivi diversi di vedere quelli in neretto):
• Phillippe Aumont, RHP: Acquired in the Cliff Lee trade, Aumont split last season between Class A Advanced High Desert and Double-A West Tennessee, where he went a combined 2-6 with a 3.88 ERA, 16 saves and 59 strikeouts in 51 innings (44 games). Penserò che è arrivato per Lee
• Domonic Brown, OF: The organization's top prospect.
• Ozzie Chavez, INF: He hit .259 with 34 RBIs last season with Double-A Reading.
• Freddy Galvis, SS: Galvis hit .247 with 15 RBIs in 63 games at Class A Advanced Clearwater. He missed time in May because of a fractured right ring finger and finished the season with Reading.
• Tyson Gillies, OF: Gillies also arrived from Seattle in the Lee trade. He hit .341 with 50 extra-base hits and 42 RBIs in 124 games for High Desert. He led all Mariners Minor Leaguers with 44 stolen bases. Vedi Aumont
• Tuffy Gosewisch, C: He hit .235 with 21 RBIs in 76 games with Reading and Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
• Kevin Nelson, C: Nelson spent most of last season with Reading. He set career highs in games (53), hits (40), home runs (9) and RBIs (27).
• B.J. Rosenberg, RHP: He pitched for Class A Lakewood and Reading. He went 7-2 with a 0.89 ERA and 19 saves in 37 appearances for Lakewood, earning South Atlantic League All-Star honors.
• Dane Sardinha, C: Split last season between Triple-A Toledo and the Detroit Tigers. He hit .097 with three RBIs in 12 games for the Tigers.
• Joe Savery, LHP: The Phillies' first-round pick in 2007 went 16-6 with a 4.40 ERA in 28 games (27 starts) with Reading and Lehigh Valley.
• John Suomi, C: Spent last season in Kansas City's Minor League system. In 60 games with Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha, he hit .246 with eight home runs and 25 RBIs.
• Ryan Vogelsong, RHP: Vogelsong, 32, has not pitched professionally in the United States since 2006. He spent the past three years pitching in Japan for the Hanshin Tigers (2007-08) and Orix Buffaloes (2009). Arriva praticamente da un altro pianeta
• Ehren Wasserman, RHP: He went 7-3 with a 3.68 ERA in 43 appearances last season with Triple-A Charlotte. In the big leagues, he is 2-3 with a 5.06 ERA in 57 games with the White Sox (2007-08). perchè è nuovo con la ns casacca

Re: Philadelphia Phillies 2009 nlds champs
curiosità........
The Phillies have won three National League East championships, two NL championships and one World Series in seven consecutive winning seasons since they finished 80-81 in 2002. They are 619-515 (.546) in that span, which is the second-best record in the league and the fifth-best record in baseball behind the Yankees (.600), Red Sox (.582), Angels (.568) and Cardinals (.554).
It could be a Golden Age in Phillies history.
Only one other stretch compares. The Phillies won five NL East championships, two NL championships and one World Series in a stretch of nine consecutive winning seasons from 1975-83. They went 791-612 (.564) in that span, which was the best record in the league and the third-best record in baseball behind the Orioles (.587) and Yankees (.573).

Re: Philadelphia Phillies 2009 nlds champs
from Csnphilly.com:
The Phillies have decided that pitching prospect Phillippe Aumont will work as a starter in 2010.
Aumont, who will be in major league spring training camp next month, is slated to open the season at Double-A Reading.
Aumont’s best pitch is a hard, sinking fastball. Phillies scouts clocked it up to 97 mph during the Arizona Fall League. Using Aumont as a starter will allow him to more fully utilize his complete repertoire of pitches, which includes a slider and changeup. Aumont had begun throwing a splitter last season, but the Phillies have asked him to discontinue using the pitch because it can increase the chance of arm injury.
Aumont essentially took Kyle Drabek’s place as the Phillies top pitching prospect after Drabek was dealt to Toronto as part of the package for Roy Halladay. The Phillies have a number of high-potential starting pitching prospects in the low minors, but are thin in the upper levels, where Drabek would have pitched this season. Looper said the decision to move Aumont from the bullpen to the rotation was not a reaction to losing Drabek.

"I think defensive statistics are the most unpredictable stats there are," says Charley Kerfeld, a former big league reliever who now serves as a special assistant to Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr.
"And since I've been here, we don't have an in-house stats guy and I kind of feel we never will. We're not a statistics-driven organization by any means.
"I'm not against statistics. Everybody has their own way of doing things. But the Phillies believe in what our scouts see and what our eyes tell us and what our people tell us."
"That's a clown question, bro."

Re: Philadelphia Phillies 2009 nlds champs
The Phillies announced that Brad Lidge had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, and his status for Opening Day is questionable.
This is Lidge’s second surgery this off season (elbow). This is his third surgery on his right knee since 2007. Lidge missed opening week in 2008 due to knee surgery, and also missed part of 2009 due to knee pain.
Kevin Davidoff of Newsday reports that the Phillies, along with four other teams, are interested in Jose Contreras.
Contreras, 38, had a 4.92 ERA in 131.6 innings with the White Sox and Rockies last year. Contreras would likely relieve, despite spending some time as a starter last year.

Per ora vedo poche notizie buone per il bullpen sarà il nostro punto debole probabilmente anche per il 2010.Phillies wrote: The Phillies announced that Brad Lidge had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, and his status for Opening Day is questionable.

Re: Philadelphia Phillies 2009 nlds champs
news varie dal mondo Phillies....
Arbitrati:
Chad Durbin avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to a $2.125 million contract.
ancora da definire invece
Joe Blanton, SP: $10.25 million. Team offers $7.5 million.
Carlos Ruiz, C: $2.5 million. Team offers $1.7 million.
Shane Victorino, CF: $5.8 million. Team offers $4.75 million.
Situazione Disastro Lidge:
Brad Lidge will miss part of Spring Training due to knee surgery.
Situazione Disastrato Bullpen:
the bullpen is a shell of its former self, and a few youngsters will be called upon to solidify a unit that was mediocre a year ago.
With all of that said, power right handed reliever Scott Mathieson could prove to be an integral part of the pen in 10. If youve followed him, you know about the 96 mph fastball, but youve also heard about the two Tommy John surgeries. His elbow has apparently healed quite nicely, which is easy to detect once you skim his stats from last season.
Mathieson appeared in 22 games last year through three levels of the minor leagues, but hardly missed a beat. He finished 4-0 between the Gulf Coast League, Clearwater, and Reading, allowing just three earned runs over 32 1/3 innings.
Currently, there are three empty slots in the Phillies 2010 bullpen, plus with Lidges newest knee clean out, there may be a fourth when the season opens in D.C. No more Condrey, Myers, Park, or Eyre. Its shaping up to be a completely different crew, but one that can still be potent if all goes well. Mathieson may be inserted into one of the vacancies, and rightfully so. The Phillies have little money left to spend with arbitration cases looming, so the team must take a good, hard look at the youth in the pipeline. Along with Matheison, Antonio Bastardo, Sergio Escalona, and several others have a shot at a spot.

Re: Philadelphia Phillies 2009 nlds champs
Gagne to try out for spot in Phils' bullpen
Former All-Star could return to Majors with NL champs
In hopes of filling some possible holes in their bullpen, the Phillies may turn to three-time All-Star closer Eric Gagne.
Gagne, 34, told a radio station in Quebec on Tuesday that he has a tryout with the Phillies on Wednesday afternoon in Arizona. Gagne, who won a National League Cy Young Award during a remarkable season with the Dodgers in 2003 and holds the record for most consecutive saves with 84, spent the entire '09 season with the Quebec Capitals of the independent Canadian-American League, going 6-6 with a 4.65 ERA in 17 starts.
"I'm very excited to have this chance," Gagne told CKAC Sports, as first reported by the Philadelphia Daily News. "There are many players that I know well on that team, including [former Dodgers teammate] Jayson Werth."
If the Phillies sign Gagne, it would likely be to a Minor League deal with an invitation to Spring Training.
Gagne, a native of Montreal, was pretty much unhittable during his three All-Star seasons with the Dodgers from 2002-04, when he posted a slim 1.79 ERA, a 6.29 strikeout-to-walk ratio and a combined 152 saves.
Elbow problems and eventual Tommy John elbow ligament replacement surgery limited him to just 16 combined relief appearances in 2005 and '06 before he bounced back a bit in '07, posting a 2.16 ERA and 16 saves with the Rangers in the first half of the '07 season.
But Gagne, who was named in the Mitchell Report in December 2007, struggled upon being traded to the Red Sox in July '07 and during his last full season in the Majors in '08. That year, spent with the Brewers, the power right-hander went 4-3 with a career-high 5.44 ERA in 50 games.
This offseason, the Phillies signed right-hander Danys Baez, who has experience as a closer, but the back-to-back National League champions could start the year without the services of closer Brad Lidge (elbow and knee surgeries) and lefty J.C. Romero (elbow surgery).

Re: Philadelphia Phillies 2009 nlds champs
Joe Blanton has agreed to a three-year, $24 million contract extension to avoid arbitration.
Blanton finished the 2009 season with a 12-8 record and a 4.05 ERA. He tossed 195 1/3 innings, giving up 195 hits over 31 starts. At one point during the ‘09 season, Blanton put together a string of 11 straight quality starts.
His contract will pay him $7 million this season, $8.5 million in 2011, and $8.5 in 2012. Another $500 k can be made through innings incentives.
Hamels a livelli 2008
