Interessante al numero 12. Miguel Cabrera.

Sarebbe bello scrivere dei nomi di giocatori con 5 anni o meno in MLB che secondo noi andranno nella HOF e vedere fra 25 anni chi effettivamente ce la farà.

Dopo due anni dire Pedroia alla HOF è certo prematuro, ma se dovessi scommettere potrebbe essere uno dei "giovani" sui quali lo farei, insieme con Ellsbury.

The Red Sox have formally announced the signing of Japanese righthander Junichi Tazawa

The 22-year-old Tazawa reached an agreement with the Sox on a three-year contract earlier this week, and the Globe's Amalie Benjamin and Tony Massarotti have learned that the the total value of the contract is $3.3 million.

Tazawa will receive a $1.8 million bonus, with salaries of $450,000 in 2009, $500,000 in '10, and $550,000 in '11. The Sox retain his rights as a pre-arbitration eligible or arbitration eligible player until 2014.

The Red Sox confirmed the length of the deal but did not disclose the financial terms.

The pitcher, who has drawn some comparisons to former major leaguer Shigetoshi Hasegawa, elected to forgo a professional career in Japan so he could play in the United States.

Though Tazawa was pursued by several teams and offered more money by at least one --the Texas Rangers -- the pitcher is said to idolize Boston's Daisuke Matsuzaka and reportedly was interested in pitching only for the Sox.

Tazawa joins the Red Sox organization after a four-year amateur career with the Nippon Oil ENEOS of the Japan Industrial League.

This past season, Tazawa was 13-1 with five saves and a 0.80 ERA in 21 games,11 starts. He struck out 114 batters and walked just 15 over 113 innings.

Hai ragione, alla fine c'era un link ad un altro articolo: The Toughest Call, mi pare che Pedro Martinez fosse citato in quel pezzo.

In effetti oggi Pedro è 214-99, ma al momento di quel pezzo era 194-79 ed era 33enne, quindi prevedendo una cinquantina di W coi Mets si poteva pensare che sarebbe finito nella HOF.
Come detto oggi è "solo" 214-99, la pct. di W è comunque strepitosa, più tutte le altre stats, ma poichè è andato 17-15 in 3 anni ed ha 36 anni oggi non so se abbia tante chance di finire nella HOF. Certo che avere 3 Cy Young ed una WS e 3000+ K potrebbe valere molto. Vedremo.

Per ciò che Pedro ha fatto e significato per Boston sicuramente spero che lo ammettano nella Red Sox HOF e certamente lo faranno.

a meno di infortuni gravi: Mauer, Papelbon, Chamberlain, Hamels, Wright, Hanley Ramirez
se continuano a lungo ad alti livelli: Pedroia, Sizemore, Fielder, Braun, Howard, Holliday, Lincecum
longshot: Verlander, Matsuzaka, Felix Hernandez, Russell Martin

Ellsbury ce lo vedo solo se dura abbastanza da superare le 9000 rubate. ma già dall'anno prossimo questa cosa potrebbe cambiare...

è vero che la "durabilità" è tenuta molto in conto, negli ultimi anni ha avuto un drastico calo però non vedere Pedro un domani nella HoF davvero mi lascerebbe perplesso
poi sembra che faccio sempre discorsi anti-yankees, non è mia intenzione (:D) ma allora, a quel punto, parlare di Mussina nella HoF è assurdo (sul sito MLB lo danno già negli historical players, si è ritirato ufficialmente? non hanno perso tempo)

E' un bel giochino, davvero interessante.

Su Pedro - anche a me piacerebbe vederlo ammesso al primo colpo. Ma molti votanti guardano soprattutto il numero di W e se lui arrivasse "solo" a 220-230 potrebbero storcere il naso in parecchi e non votarlo subito.

La "notizia" di oggi (ieri, anzi): Sox could sign Varitek AND trade for catcher.

Ecco, ci avviciniamo alla soluzione migliore. Tenere Tek per uno o due anni ed affiancargli il catcher del futuro (Saltalamacchia?).
Magari mantenendo Cash sul roster, almeno inizialmente, per ricevere Wakes.

Resta da vedere chi deciderà del futuro di Jason...
Tek, Boras o magari Heidi stessa?
