Certamente dato che sicuramente Abreu rifiuterà. E anche nel caso (molto molto remoto) che alla fine accettasse non trovando nessuno disposto a dargli il multi-year non sarebbe un problema.
La prima decisione incombente è se esercitare l'opzione su Marte. E' onerosa (6 milioni, ma vado a memoria), ma dato che i soldi non sono un problema è una cosa da fare.
Poi dobbiamo incrociare le dita e sperare che I-Rod sia FA di tipo B, a quel punto si potrebbe parlare col giocatore (una specie di gentlemen agreement) e capire se l'eventuale offerta di arbitrato verrebbe declinata. In quel caso otterremmo una scelta supplementare al prossimo draft.
Parlare del resto è ancora un po' difficile, praticamente tutti i big FA sono nostri possibili obiettivi...

Assolutamente d'accordo su offrire l'arbitration a Abreu. La rifiuterà quasi sicuramente.
Dovremmo avere Abreu, Marte, Mussina e Pettitte free agent di tipo A, mentre Rodriguez è di tipo B. Giambi invece non dovrebbe rientrare in nessuna delle due categorie. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/10/type-ab-free-ag.html.

L'arbitration a Rodriguez la offrirei solo nel caso di un accordo. Invece la offriremo a Pettitte e Mussina, anche se sarà solo pro forma.
Per quel che rigurda Marte, si potrebbe anche offrigli l'arbitration e prendere eventualmente le scelte, oppure esercitare l'opzione e scambiarlo, come si era fatto con Sheffield. Dovrebbe avere un buon valore di mercato.

Salve a tutti, dopo una lunga assenza sono tornato. Non ho mai smesso di guardare il baseball ovviamente anzi, ho attentamente seguito (ahimé) l'intera stagione, sono stato più generalmente lontano dal forum di playit per lungo tempo per motivi tecnici (attacco virus di livello 5) e di tempo (studio).


Vorrei solo commentare che adesso posso dire che in tutta la mia vita non sono riuscito a vedere una partita allo Yankee Stadium...

"Given the circumstances and the money involved, I don't think they were surprises to anybody," general manager Brian Cashman said Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday, Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte was quoted as saying he would like to return to New York next season. Pettitte had said late in the season that would likely be his decision.

"That's what I would like to do, obviously," Pettitte told Houston television station KRIV. "Hopefully, we can see if something happens."

Giambi will receive a $5 million buyout rather than a $22 million salary next season, completing his $120 million, seven-year contract. Pavano gets a $1.95 million buyout instead of a $13 million salary, finishing his $39.95 million deal.

The New York Post is reporting from the general managers meetings that the Yankees are talking with the Brewers about the possibility of acquiring Cameron in a package that might include centerfielder Melky Cabrera, possibly infielder Wilson Betemit and a pitcher.

Cabrera didn't have a very good year last year and the Yankees eventually stopped playing him in the second half and even sent him to Triple-A for a period of time. But he is a switch-hitter who batted better from the left side, which is a need for the Brewers.
