la cosa che mi preoccupa + che avrebbe allenato Bollinger proprio al liceo.....The NFL's 2007 High School Coach of the Year is being announced today, the selection is from Grand Forks and he was nominated by a Minnesota Viking.
Mike Berg, who coached at Grand Forks Central for 28 years until retiring in 2006, wins a trip for two to next month's Super Bowl in Arizona, $5,000 for himself and a $10,000 grant for Central's football program.
Berg was nominated by Vikings quarterback Brooks Bollinger, one of Berg's former players.
In his nomination essay, Bollinger described Berg as "a great man [who] taught me a lot about believing in yourself and overcoming adversity... [Coach Berg has] impacted thousands of kids' lives."
In the late 1990s, Bollinger started every game at quarterback for Central since ninth grade.
On his coaching philosophy, Berg said, "My role as a coach is to provide structure and an environment that sets high expectations for everyone involved ... I look at our program as perhaps the most relevant learning experience that many of our young people will have in their lives, and an opportunity to practice personal responsibility on a daily basis."
A blue-ribbon committee of sports leaders appointed by the NFL makes the selection.
The award was created in 1995 by the NFL and its teams to honor coaches who "profoundly impacted the athletic and personal development of NFL players." This year, nearly 100 NFL players submitted nominations. All grants are awarded by the NFL Youth Football Fund (YFF).

Pare che stiamo cercando di assumere un'ex allenatore di High School per suonare la sveglia dei nostri QB presenti, e a quanto pare pure futuri...

Vikings' Peterson named 2007 Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year
NFL.com
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is the 2007 Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year, Diet Pepsi and the National Football League announced today.
During the 2007 season, Peterson shattered all Vikings rookie rushing records and set an NFL record for rushing yards in a game with 296 against San Diego on Nov. 4. Peterson led the NFC and was second in the NFL in rushing with 1,341 yards, a total that ranks as the second-most yards in a season in Vikings history. Peterson helped the Vikings set a new team record for rushing yards in a season with 2,634, and, along with RB Chester Taylor (844 yards), set a new team record for rushing yards by a tandem with 2,185. A threat as a receiver and a kick returner, Peterson amassed 2,021 combined net yards to rank second in Vikings history behind Herschel Walker's 2,051 in 1990. In Week 9 at San Diego, Peterson set the single game rushing record (296 yards) and scored three touchdowns, repeating his three touchdown effort at Chicago during Week 6 when he ran for 224 yards. Peterson, who attended University of Oklahoma, was nominated for seven Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week awards, winning three times.
Nearly 440,000 fan votes were submitted for the 2007 Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year on NFL.com and via Sprint wireless service from January 3 through January 28, shattering last year's total of 363,500.
Peterson was one of five finalists for the honor. The other finalists were wide receiver Dwayne Bowe of the Kansas City Chiefs, running back Marshawn Lynch of the Buffalo Bills, offensive tackle Joe Thomas of the Cleveland Browns and linebacker Patrick Willis of the San Francisco 49ers.
The five finalists were selected for their outstanding performances throughout the 2007 NFL season. Each week, five nominees were chosen for Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week and NFL fans voted for the winner on NFL.com and via Sprint wireless. Those results were used to help determine the finalists.
This is Pepsi's sixth year as the official soft drink sponsor of the NFL and the third year that Diet Pepsi will present the NFL Rookie of the Year award.

Vikings player diagnosed with cancer
Vikings starting defensive end, Kenechi Udeze, is fighting leukemia.
Udeze’s doctors are still trying to determine what grade of leukemia he is dealing with.
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS was the first to report the diagnosis, which has hit his Vikings teammates hard. He is still undergoing tests and it could be several weeks before the severity of the cancer is known.
Udeze is a former No. 1 draft pick out of southern California. Last year he played in all 16 games with 53 tackles – 33 of them were solo grabs.
Leukemia is a cancer of the blood that starts in the bone marrow.
Udeze's agent, Ethan Lock, would not comment on the diagnosis.
