Molto interessante questo pezzo su AJ Burnett ma soprattutto sui Blue Jays.
In particolare la riflessione sul General Manager JP Ricciardi.

It’ll be depressing if the Jays pass on 2009 but after last season, I hope Ricciardi will not be the man making the big decisions in 2010-11 otherwise that window will close while he worries about the Jays in 2016.

sì, però non concordo sul fatto che il 2008 fosse l'anno dei Jays...avevano un infield di poco conto in termini offensivi ed un pitching staff decente: l' intramontabile Halladay, l' ottimo giovane Marcum, la sorpresa Litsch (che cmq l'anno prossimo dovrebbe regredire di un bel pò) ed un Burnett ad intermittenza.
Non certo una squadra derelitta, però neanche minimamente comparabile ai panzer Yanks e Red Sox...
Magari nel 2010 potranno finalmente competere per i playoffs, ma prima la vedo un pò grigia.

beh tasco un pitching staff decente da te non me l'aspettavo, reduci da una stagione con una tra le migliori 2/3 rotazioni in AL, forse in ML, e dal 1°, 2° bullpen in AL, non per me, ma per i numeri e per chi ci capisce, è un pithing staff "decente"?????? Linfield in attacco era pure normale, ma perdere Hill e Rolen a sprazzi non ha giovato di certo, il 2008 ERA lanno dei Jays, senza se e senza ma, i vari pitagorici e previsioni di vittorie ne sono la conferma.
il 2009? nebbia...

Anche vero però che lo era a posteriori.... chi si aspettava un anno così di Yanks e Sox? Poi vabbè, i Rays sono stati una sorpresa per tutti, ma io settimana scorsa riguardavo il lineup della prima partita della stagione... Non era il lineup di una contender, ma neanche di una squadra che poteva superare NY o RS. Poi la rotazione è stata fantastica, il bullpen ottimo, ma se condo me OLTRE le previsioni anche di chi dirigeva la squadra. Se a questo aggiungiamo un pò di partite buttate via insistendo troppo sui partenti e un pò dove l'attacco era assente ingiustificato....

Perfetto.

E' irrazionale pensare che tutto vada sempre bene. Cioè, se Litsch va bene oltre il pensabile, è anche normale pensare che qualcuno possa infortunarsi o andare peggio del pensabile... ad esempio Hill si è fatto male.

E' chiaro che se si analizza la stagione pensando: "beh, se quelli che hanno giocato bene avessero tutti giocato in questo modo e nessuno si fosse infortunato e quelli che hanno giocato male avessero invece giocato bene..."
Ma è assolutamente chiaro ed ovvio che non funzioni così. Un ragionamento del genere può essere applicato a tutte le squadre.

Poi è altrettanto ovvio che a volte ci siano stagioni "perfette" (tanta fortuna, niente sfortuna, nessuna controprestazione) ed a volte stagioni "disastrose" (tanta sfortuna, niente fortuna, tutti in slump), ma in realtà sono quasi sempre nel mezzo... ed in una stagione media, il roster di Toronto era da playoffs? Per me no.

È morto, a 75 anni, Ted Rogers. Era proprietario dei Blue Jays dal 2000.

Spiace per lui. Ci saranno ripercussioni sulla squadra?

Intanto rumors sostengono che, se Burnett non dovesse tornare all'ovile, il payroll (attualmente sui 99milioni) non verrà confermato ma semplicemente abbassato di un 10-12 milioni....

felicissimo dell'arrivo in AAA, e se non è catastrofico in MLB usciti dallo ST, del mio quasi omonimo Clement, vado a scrivere 2 o 3 cose a casaccio sui Jays, invitandovi a portare loro sempre il dovuto rispetto :gazza:
