Ecco le dichiarazioni complete che Carroll ha rilasciato a Startribune...The Vikings also agreed to terms with quarterback Kyle Wright of Miami (Fla.); cornerbacks Brandon Sumrall of Southern Mississippi and Marcus Walker of Oklahoma; safeties Travis Key of Michigan State, Husain Abdullah of Washington State and Marcus Griffin of Texas; defensive end Martail Burnett of Utah; defensive tackle Leger Douzable of Central Florida; kicker Steven Hauschka of North Carolina State; receivers Nate Jones of Texas and Darius Reynaud of West Virginia; linebacker J Leman of Illinois; center Tim Mattran of Stanford and tackle Drew Radovich of Southern California; and running back Albert Young of Iowa. Mattran is from Chanhassen and went to Chaska High School.
Here are highlights from their conversations:
On John David Booty adapting to pro football: "He's been taught by pro coaches, and the [USC] system is as close as you can get to what everybody else is doing. They're not going to do anything more complicated than what we've done, so he understands coverage principles and all that kind of stuff. So I think he's going to fit in fine. It's just a matter of getting the rhythm and the system down and make sure that he's got his reads right and all of that. He'll have a normal learning curve for a young quarterback coming in with a lot of background. It shouldn't be too big for him."
On Booty's leadership skills: "Two-time captain at SC, that's a big deal. Not too many guys have been two-time captains before. He was actually chosen captain by his teammates his junior year before he had ever played a game, so they already took to him. Hard-working, dedicated ... He's all of the right stuff."
On comparing Booty to former USC quarterbacks Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart: "He’s an extraordinary throws, he’s really got tremendous natural accuracy. The reason he came to SC is he watched Matt Leinart and Matt Cassel battle it out in spring football when he was still in high school and he said, 'Shoot, I can throw better than those guys.’ He was right. At that time he was more accurate and just has a natural way of moving the ball around. Whether he’s in the pocket or he’s on the move or off play-action stuff. He’s a tremendous passer. So, he’s going to fit beautifully. You can’t expect John to do a lot of running around, that’s not his style, he’s a classic NFL pocket guy. He won’t have any trouble with the system or picking things up or being able to throw the throws they want to throw.”
On becoming an understudy with the Vikings: "He had to do it for a couple of years behind Leinart, so he's been in that role before until he waited his time. He was very patient and very focused and tuned in. His brothers played in the league some, and he just knows. He understands how this all works. He'll compete like crazy but he'll understand, too. So I think he's a great guy for you to get."
On Booty not being drafted until the fifth round: "It happens where it happens. After a number of quarterbacks went I’m sure teams weren’t just looking for a QB, but that really doesn’t matter and John knows that too. It’s what you do with the opportunity that you get. John’s revved up and ready to go. I saw the interview (with ESPN) where he said he was hoping that it would happen with Minnesota. So that’s a great deal for both sides.”

The Vikings placed DE Kenechi Udeze on the non-football injury list today, officially ruling him out for the season so that he can focus on recovering from an acute form of leukemia.
Under NFL rules, the Vikings are not responsible for paying his 2008 salary because his “injury” is not football-related. But coach Brad Childress said today that the team will continue to pay Udeze, who is scheduled to earn $807,500 this year.
“What he can do is focus on getting well,” Childress said. “He’s done a great job with that so far. He’s been positive. He’s been upbeat. What this does is obviously clear his mind of any financial issues, and the organizaton, particularly [owner Zygi Wilf and his family], have taken care of that.”

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80878caf&template=without-video&confirm=trueThe Minnesota Vikings cut ties with former first-round pick Erasmus James on Friday, essentially tying a bow on a monumentally disappointing 2005 draft.
The Vikings waived James after he failed to pass a physical and now have hardly anything to show for a 2005 draft that was supposed to shore up several weak spots in the post-Randy Moss era.
Minnesota chose James out of Wisconsin with the 18th overall pick, envisioning him as the pass-rushing defensive end they had sorely lacked since the days of Chris Doleman. But after notching four sacks in 15 games during his rookie season, James had a series of serious knee injuries that derailed his time with the Vikings.
James tore the ACL in his left knee in Week 2 of the 2006 season. After a long and arduous rehab, James returned to the Vikings and played sparingly in six games last year. But he suffered a similar injury to the same knee in Week 13 against Detroit and again was placed on injured reserve.
After his second injury, coach Brad Childress said he expected James to make a full recovery. James also attended the four days of "organized team activities" this week and participated on a limited basis.
"We decided to waive Erasmus and we wish the best for him in the future," Childress, who was not with the team for the 2005 draft, said in a statement issued by the team.
