“A big time receiver typically follows the quarterback position. As people have said, with our offense right now, you could put a Randy Moss, and a Terrell Owens, for example, in there. If we don’t protect, and we can’t get them the ball, what you find is the same Randy Moss you saw across the Bay last year, or the same T.O. you find someplace that he’s not getting the ball fed to him. I would love to tell you if those guys were on our squad, they would have the same 1,000 yards each, and be right here and getting that. Before they get their 1,000 yards, they got a guy delivering the ball, they’ve got a running back, they’ve got an offensive line—I’m just saying, the surrounding cast has a lot to do with that. Now, do I think we have the potential for one of those guys in our lineup to do what those two guys have done—because, those two guys are on the high end, as far as what their capabilities are—I don’t believe we have that guy. But other than that, to get them on your roster, you’ve got to draft him or sign him as a free agent, something like that. Before you do that, you have to solidify the things that get him the ball. That’s why, to me, a top-notch running back is typically better than your top-notch receiver, because you can get it to the running back by doing nothing more than turning around and sticking it in his belly. Then you got it, and he gets to do whatever he wants with it. With a wide receiver, you’ve got a lot of things that have to happen. As I said when I first came here, the offensive line was an area I wanted to strengthen from the very beginning. And, it is vastly improved from what it was when I first took the job. But, they’re not producing as well as they did last year. Last year, they produced better. Although, if someone walks in here with that offensive line, we’d say that’s a pretty good group. They have played better the last month or so. They’ve done a decent job. I wouldn’t blame our woes all on them. But again, if you’re going to have a good offense, it starts with the line, because you’ve got to block for the run, and you’ve got to do the pass.”

Poi ti diro': il Moss di Oakland (poco motivato) i palloni li droppava o non arrivava a dropparli perche' non aveva voglia di correre per bene le tracce; da noi avrebbe fatto lo stesso.

In realtà credo si tratti di ogni pallone considerato ricevibile, quindi non sempre viene considerato drop solo quello che arriva tra i numeri.
