Boston Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek has a player option for $3 million to return to the Boston Red Sox in 2010. But if he chooses to move on, the New York Mets are not a possibility.


Questione Free Agency:

The talked Wednesday of how the New York Mets apparently have no plans to break the bank to sign an elite free agent.

Adam Rubin of the Daily News reported that the asking price of outfielders Matt Holliday and Jason Bay is expected to be too high for the Mets. The plans instead call for the Mets to sign a left fielder from the "second tier" of free agents.

Si parla di un interessamento a Mike Cameron per il left field. Inoltre si accenna ad un interessamento nei confronti di Bengie Molina per quanto riguarda la posizione di catcher.

Infine il sito del NY Daily News parla di una possibile trade che coinvolgerebbe 3 teams, i Mets, i Cubs ed i Jays. Castillo finirebbe a Chicago, Bradley a Toronto e Overbay nella Grande Mela.

Ultimissima cosa: JJ Putz e Gary Sheffield sono diventati Free Agents.

Per quel che riguarda Varitek, si è letto che i Mets stanno sondando il mercato per un catcher d'esperienza, Jason con la mazza è quasi nullo ma se fosse utile per far crescere Thole? non saprei...  :penso:

Putz sano e a cifre ragionevoli potrebbe essere per voi interessante nell'attesa di capire cosa ne sarà di Lidge...

Minaya ha parlato con Boras di Hollday e Cora. Ovviamente per il secondo non dovrebbero esserci problemi mentre per il primo la prima richiesta dovrebbe avvicinarsi al contratto che ha ottenuto Tex lo scorso anno, in quanto Boras ritiene i due giocatori molto simili. Mi pare che sia onestamente una cifra esagerata per un seppur molto bravo esterno. Magari con il passare dei giorni ridimensionerà un po' le sue richieste anche se poi se gli Yankees lo vogliono sono in grado di sborsare quelle cifre...
