The Cleveland Cavaliers acquired Antawn Jamison in mid-February. They wanted a wingman to complement LeBron James. After 12 NBA seasons, almost all of them as the star on a bad or mediocre team, Jamison wanted a championship.

But the Cavaliers crashed and burned in the Eastern Conference semifinals against Boston and crashed and burned again two weeks ago when LeBron giddily announced he was leaving Cleveland for the Miami Heat.

"I was disappointed," Jamison says Thursday at his basketball camp at Carolina Courts in Indian Trail. "I only got to play with him two months."

Are the Cavaliers your team now?

"If I'm there, yeah," Jamison says.

He laughs.

"They might want to go young, or in a different direction," he says.

Jamison has two years remaining on a $28million contract.

Jamison è uno di quelli che attualmente hanno poca cittadinanza in questa squadra, ma non so chi è realmente interessato ad accollarsi il suo contratto.

Una contender non lo saremo e lottare per arrivare al secondo turno di playoff non serve a nulla. Vedremo come si muoveranno i Ferry e Grant nei prossimi giorni, per ora nulla di buono.

Jamison per forza di cose non può essere al centro dei progetti dei nuovi Cavs. Scott ha gia ufficialmente(e giustamente) dato a JJ il posto di 4 titolare, dicendo che all' ex NC sarebbe invece probabilmente spettato il ruolo di sesto uomo.


Per una discreta contropartita potrebbe sicuramente partire, ma considerando che ha solo 2 anni di contratto non è il caso di svenderlo ora.

Cavaliers Acquire Sessions and Hollins from Minnesota

CLEVELAND, OH - July 26, 2010 - The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired guard Ramon Sessions, center Ryan Hollins and Minnesota’s second round pick in the 2013 NBA Draft from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for guards Delonte West and Sebastian Telfair, Cavaliers General Manager Chris Grant announced today.

“In Ramon, we’re excited to add a young, multi-dimensional guard, and with Ryan, we’re adding a young, athletic center. We think both Ramon and Ryan are really good fits for this team. We’re also happy to add another asset for the future with the additional draft pick,” said Cavaliers General Manager Chris Grant. “At the same time, we’d like to thank Sebastian and Delonte and wish them well in the future.”

Sessions, 24, played in all 82 games (one start) during the 2009-10 season, averaging 8.2 points on a career-high .456 shooting, 2.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 21.1 minutes per game. His 3.1 assists per game ranked 8th among all reserves last season. Prior to signing with the Timberwolves before the 2009-10 season, the 6-foot-3 guard played his first two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks. He posted career highs in scoring, assists and steals during the 2008-09 season, averaging 12.4 points on .445 shooting, 3.4 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.1 steals in 27.5 minutes per game in 79 games (39 starts). In the 39 starts, he upped his averages to 15.1 points on .444 shooting, 4.2 rebounds, 7.6 assists and 1.3 steals in 33.7 minutes per game. Sessions finished the 2008-09 season ranked among the league leaders in assists-to-turnovers ratio (8th at 2.97) and assists per game (18th at 5.7).

The South Carolina native set the Bucks franchise record in assists with 24 while scoring 20 points against Chicago on April 14, 2008, also becoming the first player in Milwaukee franchise history to have at least 20 points and 20 assists in a game in the process. Sessions scored a career-high 44 points on Feb. 7, 2009 versus Detroit and on 17 occasions in his career has recorded double figures in assists. In his three-year career, Ramon, pronounced “ra-MAHN”, has averages of 10.0 points on .449 shooting, 3.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists in 24.4 minutes in 178 games (47 starts).

Hollins, 25, set career bests in nearly every statistical category during the 2009-10 season. The 7-foot center averaged 6.1 points on .558 shooting, 2.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 16.8 minutes per game in 73 games (27 starts). The 7-foot center scored a career-best 19 points on two occasions during the season (Nov. 25, 2009 vs. Denver and Jan. 29, 2010 vs. the Los Angeles Clippers) and averaged 9.2 points on .610 shooting and 3.7 rebounds in 22.8 minutes per game in his 27 starts. Over his four-year career, he has averages of 3.9 points on .541 shooting, 2.2 rebounds and 0.5 blocks in 11.6 minutes in 205 games (31 starts).

West averaged 8.8 points on .445 shooting, 2.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 25.0 minutes per game in 60 games (three starts) during the 2009-10 season. In 150 career games (93 starts) with Cleveland, he averaged 10.3 points on .450 shooting, 3.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 29.7 minutes per game.

Telfair, acquired by the Cavaliers on Feb. 17, 2010 from the Los Angeles Clippers in a three-team trade, played in four games with Cleveland, averaging 9.8 points on .457 shooting, 1.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 19.5 minutes per game. Over his six-year career, he has averages of 7.9 points on .390 shooting, 1.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 23.6 minutes per game in 392 games (181 starts).

Un pensiero va anche a Delonte West che nel giorno del suo compleanno ha iniziato a scontare la pena* che gli è stata inflitta per gli eventi dello scorso anno ed è stato scambiato.
E' stato un dei giocatori che hanno vestito wine and gold negli ultimi anni a cui mi sono affezzionato di più e non posso che augurargli le migliori fortune sia dentro sia fuori dal campo.

Invece secondo me Sessions è un ottimo play, soprattutto perchè è stato scambiato per quasi nulla..... è giovane ed ha un' ottima visione del gioco.
Non bisogna prendere in considerazione l' ultimo anno trascorso a Minnie, visto che partiva dal pino unicamente perchè il coaching staff riteneva più importante far crescere Flynn piuttosto che far giocare il play in quel momento più pronto........
Non è un acquisto che cambia da solo le sorti della stagione, ma è un sicuro upgrade!!

Sessions è buono davvero, Hollins meno ma ha un contrattino che scade a breve.

Mo Williams secondo voi può avere mercato? L'anno prossimo da 9,3M passa a 8,5 ed in questi anni al fianco di LBJ ha visto salire le sue quotazioni. Jamison anche a quanto dice lui, potrebbe partire presto ma non so a chi possa interessare. Se da questi due riuscissimo a ricavare qualcosa di buono si raddrizzerebbero parzialmente le sorti di questa offseason.

Comunque obbiettivamente gran presa Sessions e Hollins, acquistati per niente in pratica (Telfair si è mai visto in campo a Cleveland?!):
Sessions: uno dei play più promettenti; però nasce subito spontanea una domanda: esce dalla panchina come cambio di Mo oppure giocano assieme?!

Hollins: io sinceramente non lo sottovaluterei così tanto. Da quando è stato ceduto dai Bobcats è sempre andato in miglioramento. Specifichiamo, soprattutto uno da highlight più che da grandi cifre però il suo lo può dare.

Non iniziamo però ad avere troppi 4?!? (Hickson,Varejao,Jamison_lo so che può giocare anche 3_,Hollins)

Personalmente valuto in maniera molto positiva questa trade.

Sessions è un ottimo giocatore, una delle poche guardie "first pass" rimaste nella lega. Ai Bucks quando ha avuto spazio ha fatto molto bene. Ha messo a referto anche qualche prestazione "monster" dal punto di vista statistico (44pt 12a 5rb;20pt 24a 8rb), numeri che lasciano naturalmente il tempo che trovano e non sono la discriminante principale per apprezzare il 24enne ex wolves.
Hollins per quanto limitato è pur sempre un settepiedi(l' unico a roster) che corre bene il campo, quindi potrebbe ritagliarsi un suo spazio nel nostro nuovo sistema.
Ed ha arrivata anche una seconda scelta(2013).

Per ottenere cio non abbiamo praticamente dovuto rinunciare a niente dal punto di vista tecnico. Delonte è brutto dirlo ma in questo momento è solo un contratto non garantito e infatti sarà quasi certamente tagliato da Minnie. Telfair è una talento mai sbocciato, è in scadenza e si dice che i timb potrebbero rilasciare anche lui...


Quindi per Grant buona la prima .


Mo al momento non sembra sulla lista partenti. Scott aveva gia ventilato la posiibilità del doppio play. Il nostro 2 a Ramon(che sono anche grandi amici dai tempi dei Bucks) offensivamente si possono completere a vicenda e hanno le qualità per coesistere nel gioco che vuole proporre Byron.
Secondo me per un ottima offerta Williams(un pò a malincuore) potrebbe anche partire. Squadre come i Blazers, Atlanta e non solo hanno mostrato interesse nei suoi confronti ma difficilmente potrebbero/vorrebero mettere sul piatto contropartite di nostro interesse.

I lunghi sono un bel rebus attualmente.

Jamison è l'unico in grado di mettere cifre degne, ma non rientra nemmeno nei piani dei Cavs a quanto pare. Ci manca un C vero, non dico una presenza dominante, ma quantomeno uno che riesca a giocarci. Senza LBJ ad attirare le attenzioni dei lunghi, non penso Varejao o Hickson possano giocarci come durante la scorsa RS. Mancherà anche Z, che aveva il piazzato da onorare ed apriva gli spazi. JJ sta migliorando il suo gioco fronte a canestro, ma è ancora parecchio discontinuo ed in situazioni non dinamiche appare troppo incerto.

L'ideale sarebbe riuscire a prendere una buona SF con Mo Williams ed un C discreto con la cessione di Jamison.

Attenzione a JJ perchè in SL ha mostrato miglioramenti evidenti dal punto di vista offensivo. In particolare nel jumper ,tecnicamente rivisto quasi totalmente ,ma non solo in quello.

Post "autoreciclato" e riassuntivo sulla questione Brown:

Mark Bartelstein (l' agente di Brown) ha dichiarato che ha parlato con il front office dei Cavs, ma non pare che la cosa si sia fatta seria.
Brown vuole rimanere ai lakers i lakers vogliono tenerlo, Kupchak ha dichiarato che rimane ottimista sulla faccenda e che il tutto si dovrebbe risolvere in 7-10 giorni.
L' interesse di Cleveland non pare essere molto elevato e la mia sensazione è che sia principalmente una manovra dell' agente per ottenere qualche $ in più da LA.
Pare inoltre che i Lakers stiano cercando di scambiare Vujacic insieme ad una prima scelta per liberarsi del salario di Sasha. Hanno provato nei giorni scorsi ad offrire il pacchetto ai Cavs in cambio di Delonte e il suo contratto non garantito(naturalmente abbiamo risposto picche e abbiamo ottenuto qualcosina di meglio...).


Personalmente l' idea di rivedere Shannon in wine and gold non mi stuzzica particolarmente, da quando è nella lega non ha mostrato i sensibili miglioramenti che mi aspettavo potesse avere. Ha ancora lacune piuttosto grosse nel ball-handling e nel tiro in particolare e per questo non è riuscito ha trosformarsi in PG da TPO(piano iniziale di PJ quando fu preso) e non sarebbe nemmeno l' uomo ideale per il bk dei Cavs dato che Scott vuole che entrambe le guardie abbiano un buon/ottimo trattamento di palla.
Il suo ruolo ideale al momento è quello di SG che porta energia ,difesa e soprattutto altetismo dalla panca. Quindi per lui ,per voi e per noi spero che rifirmi .
