New England coach Bill Belichick was fined the NFL maximum of $500,000 Thursday and the Patriots were ordered to pay $250,000 for videotaping an opponent's defensive signals.

The commissioner also ordered the team to give up next year's first-round draft choice if it reaches the playoffs or its second- and third-round picks if it doesn't.

Goodell said he considered suspending Belichick but didn't "largely because I believe that the discipline I am imposing of a maximum fine and forfeiture of a first- round draft choice, or multiple draft choices, is in fact more significant and long- lasting, and therefore more effective, than a suspension."

Dopo aver preso il taccuino e segnato......ecco una notizia inaspettata dopo quello che era successo domenica e le notizie date nei giorni seguenti:

NFL.com reports Friday that Eli Manning will start vs. the Packers in Week 2. Manning's shoulder was hurt in the Giants' loss at Dallas last week and speculation was rampant that Manning would miss some time. "He seemed to throw the ball pretty good," coach Tom Coughlin said. "But that is not for me to judge. That's for others. If you really watch closely, he did the smart thing. He loosened up pretty good and started to get into the velocity throws a little bit later on."

Sorvoliamo su come si è evoluta la questione in Georgia, visto che probabilmente il front office non ne era a conoscenza.
Ma come mi spiegate che un Matt Schaub come questo stava seduto in panchina e Michael Vick a scorrazzare sul campo?

Le questioni sono due: o giocava Vick per questioni commerciali, o Schaub veniva considerato inferiore!
Io opterei per la prima: in fin dei conti a parte l'anno della finale di conference Atlanta non è mai stata una super squadra, ma le partite in sunday night o monday night sono sempre state parecchie (e questo è un singolo aspetto!)
