:forza:
Con una trade? No, non credo.

Ni.

Marv Levy wrote:[...] GM Marv Levy admitted there were a couple of positions they hoped to fill before the end of the draft.

"We would love to have been able to be in the position to draft a cornerback," Levy said. "At the time we picked it just didn't fit, given who was there and given the many things we discussed. Yes this is an opportunity now for Ashton Youboty and Jabari Greer and the others on our team to step up. We won't stop looking, but I don't know how much there is in free agency. It's unlikely that we'll make a trade. There were needs we had to fill. Have we fully filled that one? No."
Dick Jauron wrote:Head coach Dick Jauron didn't deny that there are a couple of positions where they still need to make some additions.

"We have numbers that we look at because we know what it takes to go to camp and compete in camp and we'll try to reach those numbers," Jauron said. "We're a little bit light in the secondary right now and little light at receiver."

Day 1
1.(12) RB Marshawn Lynch, California

Ht5-11
Wt215
404.51
PositionRB
Date of Birth4/22/1986
ClassJunior
High SchoolOakland Technical HS (Oakland, CA)
CollegeCalifornia

STRENGTHS
Acceleration
Balance
Tackle-Breaking Ability

AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
Elusiveness

A solid running back with a complete game, Lynch is an athletic football player with good instincts. Has shown consistent progress in all aspects of his game while remaining a dominant feature back. Top fifteen choice who could quickly break into a starting lineup at the next level.

Biography:
Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year last season after posting 203/1,245/9 on the ground and 31/311/4 receiving. Posted nearly identical numbers of 1,246 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns as a sophomore.

Pos:
Explosive ball carrier with terrific size and speed. Runs with good lean, has a burst of speed and does not go down without a fight. Makes defenders miss and possesses outstanding open-field skills. Picks his way on the inside and weaves his way through the traffic. Possesses the speed to cut the corner yet consistently runs north/sound. Strong, breaks tackles and is very tough to bring down. Puts his shoulders into opponents and falls forward when tackled, delivering a blow. Solid pass-catcher who shows himself to be a downfield receiving threat. Gives effort blocking and picks blocking assignments.

Neg:
Not overly creative nor is he truly an elusive ball handler. Stands to improve his route-running at receiver.

2.(34)  LB Paul Posluszny, Penn State

Ht6-1.5
Wt237
404.68
PositionOLB
Date of Birth10/10/1984
ClassSenior
High SchoolHopewell SHS (Aliquippa, PA)
CollegePenn State

STRENGTHS
Aggressiveness
Discipline
Instincts

AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
Pass Coverage Skills

After a slow start to his senior campaign, Posluszny finally picked up the intricacies of inside linebacker in Penn State's 34 alignment and was one of the nation’s best defenders at season's end. A solid player who may not be as good as his headlines would lend one to believe, he is a prospect who could start at the next level in the proper system.

Biography:
Three-year starter awarded All-Conference and All-American honors since his sophomore campaign. Led the team in tackles as a senior posting 116/9.5/3 numbers after 116/11/3 as a junior.

Pos:
Intense linebacker with great instincts. Immediately diagnoses the action, quickly locates the ball and seems to have a sixth sense, anticipating plays before they unfold. Takes good angles to the action and chases to get involved. Collapses laterally to defend the run or picks his way through the traffic to get to the ball carrier. Fires through the gaps up the field in run defense and likes physical contact.

Neg:
Lacks footwork moving in reverse and skills in pass coverage. Gets caught up in the trash and easily blocked from the action.

3.(92)  QB Trent Edwards, Stanford

Ht6-4
Wt231
404.73
PositionQB
Date of Birth10/30/1983
ClassRS - Senior
High SchoolLos Gatos HS (Los Gatos, CA)
CollegeStanford

STRENGTHS
Arm Strength
Release

AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
Accuracy / Consistency
Intangibles

Physically gifted, Edwards has taken a beating the past three years and missed a significant amount of playing time. Could be a steal if he fine-tunes his game and remains healthy.

Biography:
Four-year starter who’s been saddled with injuries since his freshman campaign. Played in seven games as a senior before breaking his foot, finishing the year with 60.3%/1,027/6/6. Junior totals were 62.7%/1,934/7/7, the only year he completed a full season.

Pos:
A nice-sized, athletic quarterback with an NFL arm. Patient in the pocket, buys time for receivers and sets up with solid fundamentals. Locates the open target on the field, zips the ball into pass-catchers’ hands and puts touch on throws when necessary. Possesses a quick release and gets the ball into the tight spots. Airs out the deep pass, letting receivers run to the long throw.

Neg:
Tends to float in the pocket. Stares down the primary target. Needs to improve his pass placement. Durability is a concern.

Day 2

4.(111) RB Dwayne Wright, Fresno St.

Ht5-11.5
Wt228
404.74
PositionRB
Date of Birth6/2/1983
ClassRS - Junior
High SchoolWest Hills
CollegeFresno State

STRENGTHS
Power
Size
Tackle-Breaking Ability

AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
Acceleration
Breakaway Speed
Elusiveness

A very productive football player when healthy, Wright possesses the size, strength and abilities to be an interior runner. The lack of pure speed limits his upside.

Biography:
Second-team All-Conference choice last year after posting career-best rushing numbers of 261/1,462/11 while adding 29/2/1 as a receiver. Started the first two games of the ’04 season before tearing his left patella tendon, which required two years to recover. Totaled 1,038 rushing yards in ’03.

Pos:
Strong, north/south runner who plays with a lot of power. Patient, waits for blocks to develop then finds the cutback lanes. Keeps his feet moving up the field and breaks tackles to pick up extra yardage. Uses an effective straight-arm and is a punishing ball carrier who works to keep runs alive. Solid receiver out of the backfield.

Neg:
Lacks a burst through the hole and possesses marginal speed. Not a creative or elusive runner. Previous medical history is a concern.

6.(184)  S  John Wendling, Wyoming

Ht6-1.5
Wt222
404.49
PositionS
Date of Birth8/6/1983
ClassRS - Senior
High SchoolN/A
CollegeWyoming

STRENGTHS
Closing Speed
Size
Tackling Ability

AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
Change of Direction
Instincts

An imposing-defender, Wendling offers potential as either a conventional strong safety or as a two-deep defensive back. Needs to iron out the rough edges of his game and play with more consistency, yet has the tools to develop into a starter at the next level.

Biography:
Three-year starter awarded All-Conference honors since his sophomore campaign. Led the team in tackles as a senior, totaling 78/1/4. Posted a career-high 89 tackles as a sophomore.

Pos:
Aggressive, smart defensive back with outstanding size/speed numbers. Quick up the field in run defense, physical and works to intimidate opponents. Resilient, stays with the action and plays with a degree of suddenness. Instinctive and diagnoses plays.

Neg:
Does not cover a lot of area in center field and late getting to the spot in coverage. Average ball skills.

7.(222) TE Derek Schouman, Boise St.

Ht6-2.5
Wt247
404.69
PositionTE
Date of BirthN/A
ClassSenior
High SchoolEagle HS (Eagle, ID)
CollegeBoise State

STRENGTHS
Hands
Toughness

AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
Blocking Ability

An undersized tight end who has been relatively effective in college, Schouman has the attitude to succeed at the next level. Will get consideration at tight end, H-back and possibly fullback.

Biography:
Three-year starter and All-Conference selection as a senior after totaling 29/276/4. Junior numbers included 17 receptions.

Pos:
Tough, hard-working tight end who gives effort in all aspects. Finds the openings in the defense, stays on the same page as his quarterback and extends to make the reception away from his frame. Comes away with the difficult grab in a crowd or takes a pounding, yet holds onto the throw. Solid skills in pass protection and works hard as a blocker.

Neg:
Does not play to his timed speed. Marginal strength at the point, falls off blocks and rarely finishes.

7.(239) DE C.J. Ah You, Oklahoma

Ht6-4
Wt275
40N/A
PositionDE
Date of BirthN/A
ClassSenior
High SchoolLone Peak HS (Highland, UT)
CollegeOklahoma

STRENGTHS
Hand Quickness
Intensity/Effort

AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
Strength

A hard working lineman who makes a lot of plays in the backfield, Ah You is a backup at the next level.

Biography:
Junior college transfer who began his career at BYU. All-Conference selection the past two years after totaling 43/10/4 and 45/12/7 as a senior and junior respectively.

Pos:
Productive defender who plays with a nasty attitude. Chases hard to get involved in the action, displays a good head for the game and makes plays down the line of scrimmage. Nicely works his hands to protect himself. Plays with a good degree of quickness and displays a burst of closing speed.

Neg:
Not stout at the point, can be handled by opponents and has tackles broken. Struggled with injuries in the past. Will be 25 years old before the start of the NFL season.
