The Buccaneers joined the list of teams interested in the Bears' disgruntled outside linebacker, according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network. If Monday is any indication—Briggs was mentioned in Internet trade rumors involving the Bucs, Giants, Broncos, Bills and Redskins — the speculation about his future will continue to fly up until this weekend's NFL draft.
The interest of the Bucs, who hold the No. 4 pick in the draft, is unexpected given the team signed former Colts linebacker Cato June in free agency to play weak-side linebacker — the same position Briggs plays in the Bears' similar scheme. Briggs also has experience playing middle linebacker.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Contrary to what you might have read in cyberspace, Lance Briggs shouldn’t go to the post office and fill out a change of address card just yet.
Asked about Internet rumors that a handful of teams including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have expressed interested in trading for the disgruntled linebacker, Jerry Angelo revealed Tuesday that the only offer the Bears have received was the one from the Redskins several weeks ago.
Linebacker Lance Briggs has been selected to two Pro Bowls in four NFL seasons.
“I haven’t had anyone call me personally outside of Washington about Lance,” said the Bears general manager. “I’ve not heard anything official from anybody. We had our talks with Washington. I haven’t talked to Washington in a while. Those are rumors and I really can’t speculate on rumors.”
The Bears designated Briggs as their franchise player in February, one year after he declined a lucrative long-term contract extension. Although guaranteed a one-year deal worth $7.2 million, he’s upset that he wasn’t permitted to become an unrestricted free agent and has threatened to sit out at least part of the season.
Because Briggs is a franchise player, the Collective Bargaining Agreement allows the Bears to field offers for the four-year veteran but prohibits them from initiating trade talks.
With the draft only a few days away, a deal with the Redskins remains a possibility. But nothing is imminent at this time.
“I don’t know, I really don’t,” Angelo said. “Could it happen? It could happen. But I can’t sit here and put a percentage on it one way or another. I’m not in control of that. They would have to pursue that.
"In the event that they do, then we would certainly listen to anything that we feel will make us a better football team.”
The Bears declined the Redskins’ initial trade offer after Briggs’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, paraded the linebacker around the NFL owners meetings in Arizona, trying to orchestrate a trade.
“I personally didn’t like the way the whole thing was presented and I let Washington and his agent know that,” Angelo said. “I didn’t like the way it came down. I was very turned off by that.
“We are a profession and there are certain ways that you do business, but we’re over that. That’s not a big deal or any kind of deal breaker. There was a lot of hype going on at the time. But again, that’s behind us and we’re moving forward.”
Briggs’ harsh rhetoric has turned many Bears fans against him. But that doesn’t mean that the two-time Pro Bowler can’t rebuild some of the bridges he has burned.
“I feel he can come back here,” Angelo said. “Lance is not a bad person. Our fans are very emotional about the Bears and wanting a player to feel proud about being a Chicago Bear and wanting to be a Chicago Bear. I’m understanding of that. They are very passionate.
“Lance is looking at it from the business side of it, as is his agent. I am understanding of what they are saying and the things he is going through. Ultimately, he is a football player and right now he is a Chicago Bear.”
Although Briggs is not participating in the team’s voluntary offseason conditioning program, coach Lovie Smith is confident that the linebacker will play for the Bears again in 2007.
“When he’s supposed to be here and he’s not here, that’s telling me he doesn’t want to be here,” Smith said. "He hasn’t done any of that. He hasn’t missed anything that’s mandatory. All these workouts right now are voluntary.
“To me, Lance’s situation is that he’s a part of our ballclub and I assume Lance Briggs, No. 55, will be out there the first game. Once he has to be here, he’ll be a part of it. That’s how I’m looking at Lance Briggs.”

Forse il taglio di Shelton Quarles centra qualcosa.
Quello già lo sapevo infatti ipotizzavo uno spostamento di Brooks in mezzo, ma ci sarebbe anche Ruud che ha fatto vedere di poter sostituire egregiamente Quarles.
