The San Francisco 49ers announced on Wednesday that they have signed first-year DE John Syptak and allocated him to NFL Europe.

Syptak (6-1, 253) was originally signed by Seattle as a rookie free agent on May 1, 2006 out of Rice. He was waived by the Seahawks prior to the start of the regular season and then spent some time on the New Orleans Saints practice squad.
