potrebbe rifirmare anche per il minimo salariale no? se fosse legato sentimentalmente alla franchigia

La situazione è complicata; lui ha detto che nel 2007 giocherà, ma non necessariamente a San Francisco e comunque non ci pensa proprio a firmare un contratto con un "garantito" basso ed il resto legato al rendimento. Dal canto suo Megowan, presidente dei Giants, ha detto che Bonds non potrà essere il fulcro della squadra (difficile dargli torto...). Vediamo come andrà a finire anche se francamente mi sembra difficile pensare che possa andare in altre squadre vista la "popolarità" di cui gode fuori da San Fancisco.

Per il resto è vero che abbiamo tanto soldo da spendere ma anche vero che di FA appetibili quest'anno ce ne sono davvero pochi e c'è il forte rischio di strapagarli.
Io sarei contento se arrivassero Zito e Soriano e venissero rifirmati almeno Feliz, Hillebrand e magari Durham oltre a Bonds a determinate condizioni. Poi bisognerebbe trovare un modo per sbolognare Benitez e prendere un closer degno di questo nome (salvo che non si decida di punater sul giovane Lincencum di cui si dice un gran bene).

Bruce Bochy sembra essere diventato il principale canditao alla panchina dei Giants; nel caso la trattativa andasse in porto Bochy potrebbe portare con se' da San Diego l'OF Dave Roberts. Ci sono inoltre rumors che vedono il team interessato a Gary Sheffield.

Bruce Bochy è ufficialmente il 37° manager, 15° nell'era San Francisco, dei Giants. Contratto triennale per lui, le cifre non sono state rese note ma il suo stipendio dovrebbe essere intorno ai 6 milioni di $.

Come previsto non sono state esercitate le opzioni del club per Steve Finley e Jemey Wright mentre sono iniziati i colloqui con l'agente di Pedro Feliz.

con i Padres ha fatto veramente bene. a pelle mi piace ma giudicheremo in season.

Tralasciando il bullpen (che merita un discorso a parte) - spero che Sabean investa bene potenziando l'attacco con qualche 'mazza' di peso.

Qualche rumors preso dal sito ufficiale mlb:

Giants: San Francisco has expressed interest in Texas Rangers free-agent center fielder Gary Matthews Jr., who hit a career high .313 with 19 homers and 44 doubles last season. His father was the National League Rookie of the Year for the Giants in 1973.

A MediaNews report said that Giants officials have twice contacted the younger Matthews' agent. The 32-year-old outfielder is an eight-year veteran and would likely replace Moises Alou in the outfield.

San Francisco is also interested in San Diego backup center fielder Dave Roberts, who has said that he would like to rejoin manager Bruce Bochy, the Giants' new skipper.

First baseman Shea Hillenbrand is expected to return next season, but the club has contacted Nomar Garciaparra's agent, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, which also reported that another possible target could be Geoff Blum, an ex-Cal player and backup infielder for the Padres the past two seasons.

Since GM Pat Gillick was hired a year ago, the Phillies' general manager has been trying to trade leftfielder Pat Burrell. The main obstacle: Burrell's full no-trade clause. To this point, Burrell has indicated that he would waive the clause only in deals that would send him to New York or Boston. The Phillies can add San Francisco to that list. Burrell's representatives indicated yesterday that he would accept a trade to the Giants. That team could ask Burrell to switch back to first base, the position he played in 2000. ... In trade, the Giants might want the Phillies, who are looking for bullpen help, to take closer Armando Benitez ( , ndJ) , who comes with plenty of baggage: a $7.6 million salary for this season, the last on his contract; his bad knees, which limited him to 41 games this season; and a poor reputation as a teammate.

E' scomparso Harmon Burns, senior general partner dei Giants ed uno dei membri originali del gruppo che rilevò la proprietà della squadra nel 1992 evitando il suo trasferimento in Florida.

Tutto ancora fermo per quello che riguarda il mercato dei Giants. Perso Soriano, andato via Stanton gli obiettivi principali sembtrano essere Juan Pierre e Carlos Lee. Vediamo se nei prossimi giorni si riesce a qualgliare qualcosa.
