Più leggo Cotchery come quinto WR meno capisco il rilascio di Hines. Non ne aveva veramente veramente più, di birra in corpo?

Cotchery non accetterà mai di fare il quinto WR, tra l'altro vuole un contratto pluriennale mentre gli Steelers offrono per il momento solo 1 anno. Credo aspetteranno di risolvere la grana Wallace, ma è molto difficile che Cotchery torni in black 'n gold.

O resta lui o si prende un altro veterano - che può essere Plax se non vuole i 3 mil $ che gli hanno dato i Jets l'anno scorso - o si prende un altro ragazzotto al draft. Io do per scontato che Wallace resti a Pittsburgh, PA. Perchè altrimenti cambia parecchio e uno come Cotchery, anche sentendo gli apprezzamenti ricevuti dallo staff e da Beniamino, ritorna sicuro.

As of today, I am no longer a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. I leave the field and Steelers with no regrets, and am grateful to have played for such a tremendous organization. I feel truly blessed to have spent my entire professional career in the best town, playing for the most loyal fans who have loved and supported myself and my family.

The last 13 years of our lives have been special because of the people who cheered me on, and I am truly fortunate to have been a part of the Steelers, the City of Pittsburgh and the Steelers Nation. You have opened your arms and your hearts to us as a family and we will never forget that. Your support, enthusiasm, love and dedication are gifts I will carry with me my entire life.

I may no longer be on the Steelers active roster, but I will always be a Steeler and will never forget the people who made it all worthwhile -- the fans, the Rooneys, the front office, the equipment guys and trainers, my teammates and family. Se l'obiettivo è tenersi qualche munizione di riserva per far fronte alle possibili offerte per Wallace, beh contrariamente alla tradizione è possibile - da parte mia auspicabile, anzi - che non tutti e sei ricevano la proposta contrattuale di rito.
Ad esempio, io Foster lo terrei un attimo lì, così come Johnson. Bronco sì e Foster no perchè il primo è anche il centro di riserva. Capisco che una guardia titolare a poco più di 1 mil è un vero affare, ma se pigli un ragazzotto tosto al draft - again Cordy Glenn o magari Zeitler al secondo giro - il primo anno lo paghi meno e probabilmente gioca anche meglio.
Johnson perchè onestamente qualunque GM in Nfl riuscirebbe a raccattare dalla strada un tizio che sappia fare quello che fa lui. Poi se gli lasci testare il mercato, dubito ci sia la fila per prenderli...eventualmente, quando la situazione Wallace si sarà un minimo chiarita, potresti anche avere l'opportunità di riportarli alla base...se proprio li ami alla follia.

PS: in offseason abbiamo aggiunto al roster un certo Trevis Turner da Abilene Christian, 6-7 per 330lb. La butto lì giusto per...del resto i vari Foster, Stapleton da dove son venuti?

Da quel che leggo sul topic generale, questa differenza tra i numeri di, ad esempio, Steeler Depot e PFT deriverebbe dal fatto che la Lega ha punito Redskins e Cowboys per come hanno "front-loadato" i contratti nell'uncapped year, scippandogli parte del cap di quest'anno e ridistribuendolo alle altre franchigie

Casey Hampton has restructured his contract, a source tells Mac's Football Blog.
There was no way the Steelers could pay Hampton $4.89 million and have him count $8.1 million against the cap this season. He'll be 35 in September and is coming off ACL surgery. Hampton has agreed to reduce his base salary to $2.8 million and eliminate his workout bonus, reducing his cap hit by $3.09 million.
