As 610AM in KC is correct: Todd Haley is the Steelers new offensive coordinator, sources confirmed.

Rocky wrote:As 610AM in KC is correct: Todd Haley is the Steelers new offensive coordinator, sources confirmed.

edit: riporto un retweet da SteelersDepot Was told that Ben Roethlisber was never notified about the Steelers intentions of hiring Todd Haley until it was a done deal.

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Ben Roethlisberger wasn't notified of the Steelers' hiring of new OC Todd Haley "until it was a done deal."

Re: Smash Mouth Football Baby! - Pittsburgh Style
Omar Khan
comincia a muoversi:
The Pittsburgh Steelers cleared $6.56 million of salary cap space by renegotiating the contract of outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley, a league source confirmed on Tuesday.
....
In 2012, Woodley was due a $3.4 million base salary and had a $5.5 million roster bonus due on the 5th day of the 2012 league year for a cap number of $11.5 million.
On Monday, Woodley agreed to a restructure that lowered his base salary to $700,000. The remaining $2.7 million in base salary was combined with his $5.5 million roster bonus and converted into an $8.2 million signing bonus, which will be prorated over the remaining five seasons of Woodley's contract.
Woodley's cap number in 2012 is now $4.94 million.
Woodley's base salaries in 2013-16 were unchanged, but $1.64 million was added to each year's cap number.
Molto molto bene (cit.)

The St. Louis Rams have requested permission to interview Steelers director of administration Omar Khan for their general manager job, sources told the Tribune-Review today.

I realize we need more room. I am not stating we do not. But, remember a couple weeks ago when people were running all over this site talking about how the Steelers would be gutted to get under the salary cap? They have trimmed $10M and restructured 1 deal while dumping two guys that did not even get to step inside the white lines for half a season.
If Hines Ward restructures, they can open another $3.685M. They can restructure Ben and save $7.5M easily. Timmons has a roster bonus of $4.4M and salary of $2.625M. That is $7M. They can turn that to signing bonus and save $5.6M. Those three alone would open $16.8M more in room and voilà, they are under the cap with some wiggle room and have not cut anyone else.
That is why I stated they could manage it. They have the players signed, can make some moves over time and massage their way out of the cap situation. It is not the gloom and doom many stated.
It just isn't. And, what if the cap actually does what I think it could and come in over $130M. Then what? They have all the room they need to sign Wallace and work with the RFAs and draft picks. It won't be the bloodbath everyone thought it will be UNLESS the Steelers FO simply decides to shed salaries of older players.
I think they should. I think Aaron Smith, Farrior, and potentially even Hampton should be viewed as players that should and could be released. They have been great for this organization but the cost has out paced the production and, at some point, you have to move forward. Those three alone are right at $11M in savings.
Working 2 more deals, 1 salary reduction, and three cuts gets you $27M in space.
Then, you have Foote to play LILB until someone takes the job. You need a couple NTs. You have the OL returning (good or bad) and have some room to make some purchases.
