Things are heating up on the Kyle Turris trade front. Sources indicate a deal could come down today.

a proposito di concussions e protezioni, riporto paro paro da hf:
The number of concussions in the top division in hockey has increased dramatically.
Now, SVT Sport reveal that Swedish scientists have developed a protective helmet that might halve the number of injuries.
- But hockey helmet manufacturers seem more interested in design and comfort, says Niklas Steenberg from the research.
The technique is called Multi-directional Impact Protection System, or MIPS. It is a sheath of plastic on the inside of the helmet. The technology is already used in the equestrian and skiing, among others.
- We believe that we could prevent more concussions with this technology, says Niklas Steenberg, CEO of the researchers' own company MIPS AB.
- But so far seems to helmet manufacturers in ice hockey to be more focused on design and appearance, more than security.
The technique has been developed at KTH and Karolinska Institute, for 15 years, and based on protecting the brain in side impact, or anything but straight shots from 90 degrees.
- We use the same technology as the body itself. The helmet slides easily into place the cover just as the brain is protected by the brain substance, says researcher Peter Halldin at KTH to SVT Sport.
The research is partly based on analysis of head injuries from more than ten years. In addition, the researchers had access to the donated brains.
- Thus have we been able to analyze results of various injuries, says Dr. Svein Kleinev at KTH.
SVT Sport has had contact with the great hockey helmet manufacturers and the interest is mixed. The technique can be used within a year, according to the manufacturer, but it is also questioned because many injuries to the head is done without the helmet is affected.
- It absorbs blows to the helmet but not in direct hits to the face, admits Peter Halldin.
That MIPS technology would affect the look of hockey helmets denied by the researchers:
- Appearance and comfort is not affected and the additional technology weighs just 30 grams, says Niklas Steenberg.
But yet you have no queue outside the Royal Institute of Technology, where all helmet manufacturers to take advantage of technology?
- No, we do not, but we see it as a challenge now to educate and inform
New helmet prevents common head injuries
Many people seriously injured in equestrian and bicycle accidents, although they carried a helmet. That's because today's helmets do not protect against one of the most common injuries. But a new Swedish invention can now change that.
TV4Nyheternas reporter Mats Beckman has met the founders of the new helmet.
- We get a lot of serious head injuries and then I think there should be some system where we reduce the damage further. And takes into account the impact forces is really going on in the injury moment, says Hans von Holst, a neurosurgeon at the Karolinska Hospital in Solna.
Damage despite helmet
von Holst is a brain surgeon and have often seen riding, bicycle, moped or motorcycle accidents resulted in serious head injuries despite the fact that the victim had a helmet on his head. The helmet protects against impact due to the head. But when you bail with a horse or motorcycle you usually thrown forward and hit the slopes with speed.
- Then move the brain - it turns around its own axis. And that makes some of the nerve fibers do not keep up with this acceleration phase and then wear those off. Then it will be permanent damage, explains von Holst.
Mimic the head-house system
Hans von Holst addressed the Royal Institute of Technology for help to design a helmet that is able to dampen the rotation of the empire against the brain. Now the scientist Peter Halldin at KTH found the solution to the problem.
- What we really have is that we have emulated protection in place in your head, that is to say that the brain can slide a little bit against the skull. So we had only one idea on how to implement this in a helmet.
Reduces the battle
On the outside looking Peters helmet like most others, but there is a big difference.
- Turns we are wrong, you can outer shell move about 10-15 mm, and thus reduces to the power that would otherwise have been propagated through the helmet right into the head.
Peter is now hoping that his invention will become standard in all new helmets and he has already agreed to a deal with riding helmets, with one of the biggest producers.
- Great, great, says Hans von Holst.
- It is a perfect solution to a medical problem.
Swedish hockey has suffered several head injuries during the season. Now select Örebro first team in Europe to test a new helmet - designed to prevent new damage. On Friday, used it for the first time in the match - but on Thursday workout had the players secretly testing. - It was really nice head. It feels good to get helmets that will be really safe, says Emil Kåberg to HockeyExpressen.se.
Hockey Autumn in Sweden was characterized by head tackles and head injuries.
These incidents have succeeded each other and created a heated debate about security.
Now the company Easton developed a helmet in a better way to protect players' heads at the tackles.
The helmet should provide a good stability and be more prone to knocks.
Orebro test first
On Friday meets Örebro Rögle in the hockey league.
Orebro will then become the first team in Europe to test the new helmets - but already on Thursday got the players secretly testing.
During training used the new headgear for the first time.
- It's European debut. It's produced because it was so much concussions in recent years, says Örebro materials manager Hakan Tiderman to HockeyExpressen.se.
Trainer Peter Andersson was pleased with the test.
- I get the idea that players like them. I myself have tried and it is turned off is that they are incredibly lightweight helmets. To be hockey helmet so I felt they also ****ing beautiful, he says.
In what ways do they differ when compared to other helmets?
- It is seamless and that's what makes it better protection against concussions. If you look on the outside, it's not so bright but very dull. It will be fun to try in the match also, he says.
Kåberg satisfied
It is now supposed to Örebro to use their new helmets for the rest of the season.
Emil Kåberg think it is good that the club try something new.
- It feels good to get helmets that will be really safe. It takes less time out there and is tougher, so it may be necessary. It's been a lot of concussions during the year, he says.
Training in all its glory - it is only when it gets tough duels in a match that the players will notice the helmet really makes any difference.
- Yes, it slams not just on training sessions, they expose themselves not very well for those bangs. So we'll see what happens, says Emil Kåberg.

Stasera Washingoton contro Colorado.

Sinceramente, a me fa proprio cagare!
