The Wings have been in hot pursuit of Modano, flying him in from Dallas a month ago and wooing him over lunch and a Tigers game. He also has suitors in San Jose and Minnesota, but has made up his mind.

ma non è vero che è una mossa delk cavolo...
1) White ha 35 anni, è all'ultimo anno poi diventa UFA e ha sempre qualche infortunio.
2) Brashear era un pacchetto omaggio, Rismiller è uno da tener in panca e da utilizzare nei momenti di emergenza. Viene buono per i Chicago Wolves in ottica two-way contract. In termini di cap non cambia nulla o quasi.
3) Ci sono diversi giovani centri da provare, e se non gli si da spazio come si fa poi?

Ovviamente tutto nell'ottica che la squadra di Atlanta è in una fase di rebuilding(che tra l'altro non si sa bene quanti anni fa è iniziata e quando mai finirà  :D ) e non ha tanto da chiedere alla stagione che verrà.

Heritage Classic returns to Canada

Eight years after it hosted the first outdoor game in NHL history, Canada will finally get a second crack at it.

The Montreal Canadiens and Calgary Flames will take part in the 2011 Heritage Classic on Feb. 20 at McMahon Stadium, home to the Canadian Football League's Calgary Stampeders. The League made it official during a warm Wednesday afternoon news conference, which took place on the field that will play host to the NHL's sixth-ever outdoor game.

"Our first regular-season outdoor game was played in Canada, and it's great to be coming back," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said. "As everyone knows, the roots of our game are in Canada. And the roots of our game emanate from frozen ponds and backyard rinks in Canada. When you have a heritage as proud and as strong as we do, you want to celebrate it."

Maxim Afinogenov appears to be on his way to the Kontinental Hockey League, as Yahoo! Sports reports that SKA St. Petersburg is set to sign the Russian winger to a five-year contract. He is the third NHLer to head to SKA St. Petersburg this summer.
