As the New York Knicks and New Jersey Nets battled to sign LeBron James(notes) in formal sit-downs with the free-agent star, a nasty feud unfolded over a bold Nets marketing campaign that targeted the shadows of Madison Square Garden.

Knicks owner Jim Dolan was so angry over a bigger-than-life 227-foot billboard of Nets owners Jay-Z and Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov on the Eighth Avenue side of the Garden that sources say Dolan called Jay-Z and declared the mural was “intimidating to his employees.”

The billboard shows Prokhorov and Jay-Z standing next to each other with the words “The Blueprint for Greatness” across the image.

The Nets are moving to Newark, N.J., for the 2010-11 season and have targeted 2013 to move into a new Brooklyn arena. Prokhorov has declared one of his missions as owner will be to turn Knicks fans into Nets fans. The Russian billionaire has infused a swagger in the Nets organization and it’s clear the franchise is willing to take on the neighboring Knicks on every front possible.

Actually I have information that Lebron is going to be joining Nets 4th of July. My work gives me contacts and I was told there is something huge going down in NY with Nets. What else could it be. I wasnt told Lebron name exactly,but a wink wink type of feel from my boss.

Its fine you dont believe me, but there will be a celebration. They are adding another allstar also to the Nets. Now,I was told 2 stars to Ny and its the "big one". I guess my boss refers to Lebron as the big one.

I guess it could be Knicks, but I was told a certain hiphop company is going to be there and I wont name names,but I put 2 and 2 together to get Nets.

I wasnt told about 2nd star. Personally I have knowledge of Bosh agreeing to sign and trade terms with Miami tonight. So it isnt Bosh. It could be Boozer,Amare,Carmelo. Lebron wouldnt bother bringing in anyone else . Expect Nets to clear some capspace soon to make this happen at once. Both stars sign on same day.

I know Bulls,Heat,Knick fans will be mad, but Net fans have a right to know whats about to happen.

I think the Lebron celebration will tie in together in NYC with fireworks.

Mi tuffo nudo in fontana, se accade. L'impressione e' che Prokhorov sta facendo un gran lavoro sottobanco, e non solo per James.. Il fatto che non si sia parlato nei giorni scorsi di eventuali scmabi per Harris o Humphries pero' mi smentisce parzialmente. vediamo stanotte, anzi domattina, si sapra' tutto...

io penso che LBJ giocherà coi nets.
Bisogna solo vedere se vuol aspettare il 2012 o venire subito.

PS. se va ai nets ho qualche chance di vincere una maglietta
