There is no place like home, so hockey fans should plan on heading to their team's arena beginning on Oct. 7, when the puck drops on the 2010-11 NHL season.

On Thursday, Oct. 7, the Pittsburgh Penguins will unveil the new Consol Energy Center to regular-season action against their Keystone State rivals, the Philadelphia Flyers.

Also opening the season at home on Oct 7 are the Colorado Avalanche against the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks, the Edmonton Oilers hosting another "Battle of Alberta" against the Calgary Flames and the Toronto Maple Leafs facing their longtime "Original Six" rivals, the Montreal Canadiens, at the Air Canada Centre.

Jason Spezza lascia Ottawa?

According to a TSN report, Ottawa Senators center Jason Spezza "wouldn't object" to a trade, Senators GM Bryan Murray told reporters Monday.

"He said he wouldn't object to it," Murray said. "He didn't come in and say, 'I have to be traded.' He didn't object to the fact that maybe it's time -- the way (he's) been received -- now maybe it's time."

Spezza has been the subject of intense trade rumors since the Senators were ousted from the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the first round.

Spezza inked a seven-year, $49 contract extension in 2007 and has a no-trade clause that kicks in on July 1. He has played entire his career with the Senators since being taken with the No. 2 pick in the first round by the team in 2001.

"I want to be not just the first player to play in the NHL from Florida, but the first player from here to bring the [Stanley] Cup to my hometown,"

Boca teen could make history in NHL Draft
Andrew Yogan could become first player born and raised in Florida to be drafted

Panthers sent forwards Nathan Horton and Gregory Campbell  to the Boston Bruins for defenceman Dennis Wideman, the 15th overall pick in this year's NHL Entry Draft and an undisclosed draft pick.
